Head coach Amorim is looking to freshen up in a number of areas as he aims to build a squad capable of playing to his tactical preferences. Bryan Mbeumo is a major attacking target, while further investment could hinge on an ability to offload some out-of-favour high earners. Rashford's ex-colleague shares advice Timothy Fosu-Mensah broke into Manchester United's first team at the same time as Marcus Rashford, and believes the forward needs to ensure he can find a club where he feels good. The Dutch defender made his Premier League bow on the same day as Rashford, and was speaking as he continues his own search for a new club after leaving Bayer Leverkusen in 2024. 'I just want him to be happy. Everybody just wants him to be happy," Fosu-Mensah told The Independent. "The most important things is for him to feel good, for him to feel happy. Look, the quality is definitely there. Nobody needs to say anything about this quality, because he's a top player.' Rashford looked to be enjoying his football during a loan spell at Aston Villa last term, earning an England recall. However, he left at the end of the season after Villa missed out on Champions League qualification. Dressing room feelings on Mbeumo Matheus Cunha and Joshua Zirkzee both appeared to green-light a move for Bryan Mbeumo with their social media activity. The pair 'liked' a report indicating United are poised to continue talks over a move for the Brentford star. Cameroon international Mbeumo has been eyed by both United and Tottenham. The latter are managed by former Brentford boss Thomas Frank, and can offer Champions League football, but those might not end up being deciding factors. Mbeumo has a year left on his current deal in West London, and Brentford hold an option to extend it until 2027. He is due back in pre-season training if no agreement can be reached before then, but exit talk persists. Onana could leave on loan Manchester United are ready to sanction a loan exit for Andre Onana, according to The Sun. The former Inter Milan star has had ups and downs since moving to Old Trafford in 2023, and a difficult second half of the 2024-25 season has led to increased chatter around an exit. Monaco are said to be among the interested parties, though their financial situation has prompted some doubt over a permanent switch. Philipp Kohn and Radoslaw Majecki shared goalkeeping duties at the Ligue 1 club last term as they finished third and qualified for the Champions League Emi Martinez remains an option to replace Onana if United do move for an alternative. If they are to pursue a cheaper alternative, Botafogo keeper John is said to be an option.

Oscar Piastri ‘probably pushed the limits a bit far' in Austrian GP tussle with teammate Norris
It was the moment the great McLaren battle could have all gone disastrously wrong. Oscar Piastri moved to pass McLaren teammate Lando Norris but locked his wheels and veered perilously close to his championship rival. The Australian regained control to eventually finish immediately behind the British driver in an enthralling Austrian Grand Prix that tightened up the race to the world title. Piastri, who saw seven points chopped off his lead, which now stands at 15, said: 'It was a good battle. A bit on the edge at times and probably pushed the limits a bit far. But that's what we're here to do: try and race each other and try and fight for wins. And that's what we did today. It was close for me, but not quite enough.' The moment, on lap 20, turn four, caused some angst among the McLaren management, who had to deal with Norris's more serious blunder in the previous race, in Montreal, when he collided with Piastri and put himself out of the running. This was not on the same level but team principal Andrea Stella praised Piastri's immediate accountability after the incident. 'As soon as he crossed the finish line, he opened the radio and he said, 'Sorry for the situation in corner four. My bad. I know what I have to do'. We have come out stronger and even more united,' Stella said. Piastri replied: 'I thought it was a fair comment. Locking up and missing the back of your teammate by not a lot is certainly pushing the boundaries. So, even if I hadn't been told anything, I didn't think it was a wise decision to try that one again. So, a fair comment.' The race-long duel made for gripping viewing, a point not lost on Piastri, who said: '[It was] intense. I hope it was good watching, because it was pretty hard work from the car. I tried my absolute best, and probably could have done a better job when I just got ahead momentarily. Norris called it a 'beautiful one-two' finish for the team. 'We had a great battle, that's for sure. A lot of stress, but a lot of fun. A nice battle, so well done to Oscar,' he said. 'Hopefully it was a nice one for everyone to watch but inside the car it was tough, especially when he was in DRS [drag reduction range]. It was a perfect result for the team, a one-two is exactly what we want and we did it again so I'm very happy.' For Norris, this was full redemption after his Canadian nightmare. He said: 'There were a lot of laps where I was looking in my mirrors. We both want to race hard and fair and it goes both ways. We have to put Montreal behind us and behind me for sure. It is something I wish didn't happen but it was nice we could push to the limit here. 'There were some close moments but nothing that would make [team principal] Andrea [Stella] or the pit wall sweat too much.'

Guardiola unsure if Club World Cup will affect City's Premier League campaign
England manager Thomas Tuchel recently said the involvement of City and Chelsea in this summer's tournament in the United States would hand the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal a 'huge advantage' in the title race. Former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has also described the event as 'the worst idea ever implemented in football' because of concerns over player welfare. Guardiola, however, insists City – who face Al-Hilal in a last-16 tie in Orlando on Monday night (2am Tuesday UK) – are focused on rediscovering their best after a frustrating 2024-25 season and claiming the prize. The City manager said: 'I try to relax, enjoy the days here and the good vibes that we have, the competition and we try to win it. 'The most important thing is to recover and find within ourselves what we were. That's my main target in this tournament. 'I want them to feel that this is our path again to be competitive like we have been in eight of the last nine years. 'After this, let's see what happens. Let's see what happens after the final. We will rest for the time the Premier League allow us. 'Maybe in November, December or January it will be a disaster, we are exhausted and the World Cup has destroyed us. 'I don't know, it's the first time in our lives that this has happened. We will see when we come back.' Many, many teams complain about these competitions because they are not here, otherwise they might love being here.' 'It is not the ideal situation but I grew up to understand not to be worried about the situations that I can't control. So no problem.'
