A little unexpected drama from yesterday — and this time, it wasn't from the players. As light rain began to fall, the umpire's chair suddenly slid back.
No damage done, but definitely a moment that had everyone courtside doing a double take.
All part of the Wimbledon charm — even the furniture likes to move around!

On Court 3, top seeds Marcelo Arevalo and Mate Pavic survive a stern challenge from Petr Nouza and Patrik Rikl, clinching the first set via a closely fought tie-break. The Czechs made them work for every point, but the favourites hold firm.
Over on Court 2, 17th seed Karen Khachanov takes care of business and claims the first set against Kamil Majchrzak. Solid and composed tennis from the Russian so far.
Karen Khachanov is just one game away from wrapping up the first set in his fourth-round clash against Kamil Majchrzak on Court 2. The Russian has looked in full control so far, dominating on serve.
Over on Court 3, the top-seeded men's doubles pair of Marcelo Arevalo and Mate Pavic are being tested by Czech duo Petr Nouza and Patrik Rikl. The first set is neck-and-neck and could be decided by a tie-breaker.
Plenty of early tension across the outside courts.
Taylor Fritz [5] vs Jordan Thompson
Fritz has looked sharp this week, but Thompson's gritty baseline game could make things tricky. Expect a battle of big serves and long rallies.
Nicolas Jarry vs Cameron Norrie
Home favourite Norrie will have the crowd behind him as he takes on the powerful Chilean. This one could go the distance!
Linda Noskova [30] vs Amanda Anisimova [13]
A fascinating duel between youth and experience — Noskova's aggressive style meets Anisimova's clean ball-striking. One to keep an eye on.
Centre Court – from 1:30 PM
Sonay Kartal vs Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova
Aryna Sabalenka [1] vs Elise Mertens [24]
Carlos Alcaraz [2] vs Andrey Rublev [14]

Jannik Sinner brings back fitness coach and physiotherapist who played a role in doping ban

World No. 1 Jannik Sinner has rehired fitness coach Umberto Ferrara, nearly a year after firing him over the fallout from his doping case. He has also reappointed physiotherapist Giacomo Naldi, who had applied the banned substance on him. read more World No. 1 Jannik Sinner has decided to bring back his former fitness coach Umberto Ferrara, almost a year after they parted ways due to the fallout from Sinner's positive tests for a banned substance. Ferrara and physiotherapist Giacomo Naldi left Sinner's team last August, five months after the Italian tested positive for clostebol. They played a role in the incident, which resulted in Sinner firing both. Sinner was cleared of intentional wrongdoing by an independent tribunal but the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) appealed the decision at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD After that, Sinner accepted a three-month ban following a settlement with WADA, which was negotiated by his lawyers. WADA said the doping incident happened due to negligence and not deliberate cheating. Sinner had explained that the banned substance entered his system when Naldi applied a spray to treat a cut on his hand. Ferrara later admitted he had given the spray to Naldi for personal use and specifically told him not to use it on Sinner. After Ferrara and Naldi left, Sinner brought in fitness coach Marco Panichi and physiotherapist Ulises Badio in September. But he split with them before Wimbledon this year. Sinner's team explains decision to rehire sacked coach Now, Sinner has reappointed Ferrara and Naldi in a bid to focus on continuity. 'Umberto has played an important role in Jannik's development to date, and his return reflects a renewed focus on continuity and performance at the highest level,' Sinner's team said in a statement Wednesday, July 23. The move comes as Sinner is preparing for upcoming tournaments, including the Cincinnati Open and the US Open. Sinner has had an eventful comeback season. He returned to action at the Italian Open in May, where he lost to Carlos Alcaraz in the final. He then lost a thriller to Alcaraz in the French Open final. However, Sinner avenged his defeats by beating Alcaraz in the Wimbledon final to claim his fourth Grand Slam title.

Jannik Sinner rehires fitness trainer whom he sacked after doping scandal

World No. 1 Jannik Sinner has rehired his former fitness trainer, Umberto Ferrara, with whom he had parted ways last year after holding him responsible for failing two dope tests in March 2024, ahead of the 2025 US Open next month. 'The decision has been made in alignment with Jannik's management team as part of ongoing preparations for upcoming tournaments, including the Cincinnati Open and US Open,' Sinner's team said was quoted as saying in a statement by Reuters. 'Umberto has played an important role in Jannik's development to date, and his return reflects a renewed focus on continuity and performance at the highest level.' Sinner had tested positive for the banned anabolic steroid, clostebol, but was cleared by an independent tribunal after he appealed that the failed tests were a result of accidental contamination. His version was that his physiotherapist, Giacomo Naldi, had used an over-the-counter spray which contained clostebol to treat a cut on his finger and then gave him a massage, which resulted in transdermal contamination. Sinner was cleared by the tribunal in August last year, but sacked both Naldi and Ferrara, claiming he did not feel 'confident to continue' with them after 'their mistakes'. He would later serve a three-month ban between February and May after settling the case with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). In the absence of Ferrara and Naldi, Sinner worked with trainer Marco Panichi and physiotherapist Ulises Badio (a former long-time member of Novak Djokovic's team), during which time he kept his winning charge up, lifting titles at last year's US Open and this year's Australian Open, and also reaching the French Open final. Ahead of Wimbledon, he parted ways with both of them, causing a fair bit of intrigue, which was swept under the rug when he marched his way to the title. He will now restart work with the fitness team that was pivotal in scripting his rise to the top of men's tennis in the first place.
