Liverpool FC ‘Devastated' as Diogo Jota Dies in Lamborghini Crash
The crash occurred at 00:30 GMT+1 in Cernadilla, Zamora, as the brothers were travelling in a Lamborghini. According to the Spanish Guardia Civil, the vehicle suffered a tyre blowout while overtaking, veered off the A-52 motorway and caught fire.
Both men died at the scene.
Liverpool FC issued a sombre statement this morning: 'Liverpool Football Club are devastated by the tragic passing of Diogo Jota. The club have been informed that the 28-year-old has passed away following a road traffic accident in Spain along with his brother, Andre.'
The club asked for privacy for the family and said it would make no further comment for now.
Just ten days ago, Jota married his long-time partner Rute Cardoso. The couple have three young children. What should have been the beginning of a joyful new chapter has turned into a heartbreaking nightmare.
In a tribute posted on social media, FC Porto, where both brothers played in their youth, said:
'It is with shock and deep sorrow that we extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Diogo Jota and his brother André Silva. Rest in peace.'
Pedro Proença, president of the Portuguese Football Federation, described Jota as 'much more than an amazing player… an extraordinary person, someone with an infectious joy.'
A minute's silence will be held before Portugal's Women's Euro qualifier against Spain on Thursday evening.
Jota joined Liverpool in 2020 for $55 million and went on to score 65 goals in 182 appearances. He helped the Reds win the Premier League, FA Cup, Community Shield, and two Carabao Cups.
His versatility, work rate and lethal finishing made him a fan favourite. Off the pitch, he was known as humble, kind, and deeply devoted to his family. Tags: Car crashFC PortoJotaLamborghiniLiverpool

Real Madrid vs Borussia Dortmund: Preview & Score Prediction
Real Madrid will face Borussia Dortmund in the quarter-finals of the FIFA Club World Cup today in what promises to be a tightly contested clash at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Kick-off is at 9 p.m. Moroccan time (GMT+1), and fans can catch the action live for free on the DAZN website and app. Kylian Mbappé, who made his Club World Cup debut in the last round with a brief 22-minute appearance, could be in line for a starting role. Real manager Xabi Alonso must decide whether to start the Frenchman or continue with in-form striker Gonzalo Garcia, who has scored three goals in four appearances at the tournament. Dani Carvajal and Éder Militão are back in the squad after recovering from injury, but the Spanish coach may be reluctant to disrupt a winning formula, particularly after the narrow 1–0 victory over Juventus in the Round of 16. Madrid arrive in the quarter-finals on the back of a solid campaign so far. They topped their group with a 1–1 draw against Al Hilal, followed by victories over Pachuca and RB Salzburg. The knockout win over Juventus was less flamboyant but underlined Madrid's ability to manage games with control and efficiency. Dortmund, meanwhile, have taken the scenic route. A goalless draw against Fluminense opened their tournament before a dramatic 4–3 win over Mamelodi Sundowns and a narrow 1–0 win against Ulsan Hyundai sealed top spot in their group. They were tested again in the last 16, edging past Mexican side Monterrey 2–1. Key to Dortmund's hopes is striker Serhou Guirassy, who has been in prolific form, including a brace in the last round. Behind him, Jobe Bellingham and Julian Brandt provide creativity, while manager Niko Kovač has brought a disciplined structure to a side that continues to grow in confidence. Predicted Lineups: Real Madrid (3-5-2): Courtois – Rüdiger, Tchouaméni, Huijsen – Alexander-Arnold, Güler, Valverde, Bellingham, Fran García – Gonzalo García , Vinícius Jr Dortmund (3-4-2-1) Kobel – Süle, Anton, Bensebaini – Ryerson, Nmecha, Gross, Svensson – Brandt, Adeyemi – Guirassy. Score Prediction: Real Madrid, with their depth, experience and unbeaten form under Alonso, will enter the match as favourites. However, Dortmund's attacking intent and underdog spirit give them every chance of producing an upset. With a place in the semi-finals at stake, both sides are expected to approach the tie with caution – but it may take a flash of brilliance, or a moment of composure, to settle the outcome. Morocco vs Zambia: When, How to Watch WAFCON Opener
Rabat – The CAF Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) kicks off this evening with host Morocco taking on Zambia at the Rabat Olympic Stadium. The match is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. local time. Fans in Morocco can catch the action live on sports channel Arryadia. Fans can also follow the game online through official CAF broadcasters. This will be a big night for Morocco, who are hosting the tournament for the second time in a row after finishing as runners-up in 2022. In that edition, they reached the final but lost 2-1 to South Africa. Their strong performance helped them qualify for the 2023 Women's World Cup, where they made it to the Round of 16, a historic achievement. Now, with Spanish coach Jorge Vilda, who led Spain to the 2023 Women's World Cup title, at the helm, the Atlas Lionesses are hoping to go one step further and win the trophy at home. Zambia are also coming into the tournament with big ambitions. They finished third in 2022, beating Nigeria in the bronze medal match. This is their fourth WAFCON appearance. This match will be the first time Morocco and Zambia meet at WAFCON. However, both teams reached the semi-finals in 2022. Morocco lost the final, while Zambia beat Nigeria for third place. Morocco played all their matches in Rabat during the last edition and will do so again this year. Zambia, on the other hand, only played one match in Rabat back then, a 4-1 win over Togo. History suggests Morocco might have an edge. In 12 previous WAFCON tournaments, hosts have won their opening match 11 times. Since 2004, every host has won their first game, often without conceding a goal. Morocco will be hoping to keep that tradition alive. Tags: FootballMoroccoWAFCONZambia

PSG vs Bayern Munich: Preview & Score Prediction
Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich will go head-to-head in a blockbuster Club World Cup quarter-final today at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, with both sides vying for a place in the final four of the tournament. The match is a rerun of last season's Champions League group-stage encounter, where Bayern edged a 1–0 win in Munich. But this time, the stakes are higher and the PSG side awaiting them looks way more dangerous. Kick-off is at 5 p.m. Moroccan time (GMT+1) and fans can catch the action live on the DAZN website and app. PSG enter the tie on the back of a commanding 4–0 demolition of Inter Miami in the last 16, a performance that underlined why they remain among the favourites for the title. Joao Neves struck twice, with Moroccan Achraf Hakimi adding a fourth after an own goal from Tomas Aviles. PSG have lost just once in their last 15 matches and are operating with the highest possession and passing stats in the tournament, while also boasting the best defensive record. Enrique is expected to field a largely unchanged side. Ousmane Dembélé returned from injury as a second-half substitute against Miami but may not be risked from the start. Bradley Barcola, Desire Doué and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia are likely to retain their places in attack, while Marquinhos and Fabián Ruiz, both withdrawn at half-time last time out for preservation, should return to the starting XI. PSG's recent record against Bayern is far from flattering. The French champions have failed to score in their last four meetings with the Bavarians, losing each of them. But the narrative may shift, with Enrique's side currently playing some of their most coherent and confident football in recent years. Bayern Munich, meanwhile, arrive in Atlanta having seen off Flamengo 4–2 in the last-16 tie. Harry Kane added two more goals to take his season tally to 41, while Leon Goretzka and an own goal from Erick Pulgar helped end Flamengo's 11-match unbeaten run. Though their group-stage campaign ended in disappointment with a narrow 1–0 defeat to Benfica, Vincent Kompany's side showed signs of recovery and intent in the knockout clash. Bayern's numbers remain impressive. They are joint-top scorers in the competition with 16 goals and lead in pressing metrics, including the most high turnovers and one of the highest totals for final-third passes. But injuries have forced some reshuffling. Alphonso Davies and Hiroki Ito are still sidelined, and while Kim Min-jae is nearing fitness, he is unlikely to feature. Leroy Sané has departed for Galatasaray, while Kingsley Coman is expected to recover from a muscle issue in time to be in contention. This could also be a farewell match for club legend Thomas Müller, who is set to leave Bayern at the end of the tournament. Jamal Musiala, Michael Olise and Serge Gnabry will battle for the creative roles behind Kane, who continues to deliver at a prolific rate. Predicted Lineups: PSG(4-3-3): Donnarumma – Hakimi, Marquinhos, Pacho, Mendes – Ruiz, Vitinha, Neves – Barcola, Doue, Kvaratskhelia Bayern Munich (4-2-3-1): Neuer – Laimer, Tah, Upamecano, Stanisic – Kimmich, Goretzka – Olise, Musiala, Coman – Kane Score Prediction: PSG have the form, momentum and a clear sense of identity under Enrique. Bayern, however, have the history and a forward line capable of punishing any lapse. With Real Madrid or Borussia Dortmund awaiting in the semi-finals, both sides will know there is little room for error. Recent head-to-heads may favour Bayern, but this version of PSG is sharper, faster and more tactically mature. Expect goals at both ends, but Enrique's men should have enough to advance.
