Perak gov't welcomes PAFA's move to sign import players
He said PAFA's decision to bring in foreign players is aimed at strengthening the team in preparation for the 2025-2026 A1 Semi-Pro League season.
'PAFA are currently identifying several foreign players who suit the playing system and salary offers, and of course, PAFA will select the best players to strengthen the team.
'PAFA also have the ambition and vision for Perak FA to succeed in the A1 League and eventually return to the Super League,' he told reporters here yesterday.
Prior to this, PAFA president Datuk Mohd Azhar Jamaluddin had said that 24 players have received offer letters to join the Perak FA team for the 2025-2026 A1 Semi-Pro League and the 2026 Malaysia Games (SUKMA) in Selangor.
He said the association is in the process of scouting for import players and has until August to complete the 30-player squad.

KUCHING (Aug 3): The Sarawak State Muaythai Association (PMNS) is planning to organise the Sarawak Premier Cup Muaythai Championship in September. The tournament to be staged again at Naim Street Mall @ Paragon Bintulu is expected to draw over 300 athletes from all over the world. 'We are hoping to get the strong support from the federal and state governments as well as corporate sponsors to organise this championships,' PMNS president Jumaat Ibrahim told reporters during the PMNS thanksgiving and celebration dinner at a local restaurant on Friday. The dinner was held to celebrate the Sarawak team's achievement at the National Combat Sports Championships (Pre-Sukma) and Muaythai National Grand Prix at the Axiata Arena in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur from July 24-27. Sarawak finished second overall after capturing nine gold, five silver and 10 bronze medals to finish behind Sabah and ahead of Melaka. The state squad was represented by clubs under the KSSC Sarawak banner which included Muaythai Kenyalang Club, Sting Kuching, Phoenix Meranek Samarahan, Bau MT Club, SS Fighter Petrajaya, Singa 30 Miri and Legacy Kuching. They were joined by four other clubs D30 Miri, PS Bintulu, Kilas Petra Jaya and Rentap Kuching who used their own resources. A standout performer was Sukma XXI silver medallist Azhad Haziq Syafaat who won the National Championship Belt in the 75kg–80kg category. Another star performer was Adrynna Thanichaa from Rentap Muaythai Club secured a gold medal and was also crowned Best Female Boxer of the tournament. Jumaat described the championship as an excellent exposure platform for the state's budding talents. He pledged that PMNS will continue to send promising athletes to more exposure tournaments. 'Our main goal remains to retain our muaythai championship title at Sukma Selangor next year. But we're aware it won't be easy as other states are also stepping up their game,' he added.

KUCHING (Aug 2): The Sarawak Muaythai Association (PMNS) is planning to bring back the Sarawak Premier Cup Muaythai Championship this September in Bintulu. With the venue planned at Naim Street Mall again, PMNS president Jumaat Ibrahim said that this year's championship is expected to attract over 300 participants from across Malaysia and around the world. 'We are hoping to get the strong support from the federal and state governments as well as corporate sponsors to organise this championship. 'For the organising of the Sarawak Premier Cup last year, we received funding support from the federal Ministry of Youth and Sports and the State Ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development,' he told reporters during a PMNS thanksgiving dinner on Friday. The dinner was to celebrate Sarawak's outstanding performance at the recent National Combat Sports Championship (Pre-Sukma) and Muaythai National Grand Prix, held at the Axiata Arena in Bukit Jalil from July 24–27. Many of these athletes are still young and relatively new, but they've shown incredible potential to go far,' he said. He reminded the athletes that consistent training and discipline are key to long-term success and reiterated PMNS' commitment to sending athletes to more tournaments for experience. Kelantan Red Warriors' league debut delayed by FIFA transfer ban
KUALA LUMPUR: The Amateur Football League (AFL) has postponed Kelantan Red Warriors' (KRW) first two A1 Semi-Pro League matches due to a FIFA-imposed transfer ban. KRW had submitted a full explanation to FIFA on Saturday — two days before Monday's deadline — in response to a show-cause letter from world football's governing body. AFL chairman Datuk Yusoff Mahadi said the league is giving KRW some leeway to resolve the issue before deciding whether to let them remain in the competition. "KRW received a letter from FIFA about a transfer ban originally imposed on Kelantan FC, as they are seen as the same entity. "FIFA is expected to make a decision on KRW's status by Aug 14. Until then, KRW has been given a chance to respond," said Yusoff on Tuesday, following the 2025/26 A1 Semi-Pro League official broadcaster announcement. "AFL understands KRW cannot register players until the issue is resolved, which means they have no players to field despite the league starting on August 2. "We're giving them time until FIFA decides. As a result, two KRW matches scheduled before Aug 14 will be postponed. We hope KRW can resolve this matter and stay in the league. It would be a shame if they were excluded." KRW, coached by Irfan Bakti, were due to face Selangor FC on Aug 4 and Seoul Phoenix on Aug 10 in their opening two games. A search of the FIFA database shows Kelantan FC are under a registration ban, listed eight times since 2023. The reasons remain undisclosed. FIFA is holding KRW accountable for Kelantan FC's salary arrears, citing the sporting succession rule, which allows sanctions on new clubs deemed to have inherited the obligations of their predecessors.
