Felda's shareholding in FGV increases to over 90 pct, plans for delisting
KUALA LUMPUR (July 30): The Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) has received valid acceptances for all the remaining ordinary shares in FGV Holdings Bhd and has acquired the offer shares representing 91.73 per cent of the total issued shares of FGV as of 5pm on Tuesday.
FGV said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia that Felda holds more than 90 per cent of its shares and does not intend to maintain FGVís listing status on the Main Market of Bursa Securities.
It added that this offer is still open for acceptance until 5pm Aug 15, 2025 and Felda encourages all shareholders who have not yet accepted the offer to do so before the deadline expires.
'Bursa Securities will suspend the trading of the FGV shares immediately upon the expiry of five market days from the final closing date in accordance with subparagraph 16.02(3) of the Listing Requirements,' it added.
In 2020, Felda triggered a mandatory takeover offer after increasing its stake in FGV from 33.66 per cent by acquiring shares from Retirement Fund Inc (KWAP) and Urusharta Jamaah for RM658 million.
FGV, which made its debut in 2012 at RM4.55 a share, raised RM10.5 billion in one of Malaysia's largest initial public offerings. Its share price has since declined significantly, prompting repeated privatisation efforts.
Felda said the acquisition of FGV shares not only paves the way towards a more sustainable and focused Felda Group, but is also in line with Felda's aspirations in achieving the Felda Group's Strategic Plan and Direction 2025 – 2030.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) will consult the Prime Minister's Department to determine the best approach for distributing the RM100,000 allocation to each village in its land schemes, as announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim yesterday. Its chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek said the move aims to ensure the funds are distributed efficiently and achieve the government's objectives. "We will refer to PMD to establish the appropriate criteria for recipients to ensure that the assistance is properly utilised and achieves the intended goals," he said. Also present was Felda director-general Datuk Dr Suzana Idayu Wati Osman. Yesterday, Anwar announced the RM100,000 allocation for each village under Felda to fund development projects decided by the local residents. This initiative aligns with the Madani government's focus on consultation and empowering the people. Regarding the delisting of FGV Holdings Bhd (FGV) from Bursa Malaysia, Ahmad Shabery said it should not be viewed negatively. He said delisting will allow for a restructuring of the company without being constrained by the regulations governing public companies, ultimately enabling Felda to fully own FGV and run welfare activities for settlers more effectively. Anwar had earlier confirmed that Felda would have control over FGV's direction once the delisting process is completed, which will begin on August 28.

MK3D carnival draws 2.1 million visitors, hits RM6.9mil in sales
KUALA LUMPUR: The 2025 Mega 3D Carnival (MK3D), held at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (Mitec) since last Wednesday, has not only achieved its main objective but also gained recognition with seven entries in the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR). Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) deputy director-general (Community Development) Datuk Mohd Banuri Aris said the carnival, which brought together over 1,000 rural entrepreneurs, had successfully attracted 2.1 million visitors from Wednesday until 5pm today, surpassing the initial target of two million. He said MK3D, organised through a strategic collaboration between Felda, the Rural and Regional Development Ministry (KKDW), and the Entrepreneur and Cooperative Development Ministry (Kuskop), also surpassed its RM6 million cash sales target, recording RM6.9 million in transactions over five days. "We are also targeting around RM209 million in business matching. As of 5 pm today, we have achieved around RM200 million, and we are confident the amount will continue to rise before the final count tonight. "This indicates the targets set by the three-dimensional teams have been achieved, making this carnival a fresh milestone in our planning to ensure the sustainability of Bumiputera entrepreneurs under KKDW, the One District One Industry (SDSI) Showcase, and Felda," he told a press conference here today. Mohd Banuri said the collaboration between the three agencies had positively contributed to the growth of the entrepreneurial and green economy in planned and rural areas, adding that MK3D had the potential to achieve even greater success if held again in the future. "Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi yesterday proposed that the programme be held again to provide more opportunities for Bumiputera entrepreneurs to participate. "Insya-Allah, it may be organised in conjunction with the 70th Felda Settlers' Day celebration in early July next year. "MK3D adds value to programmes that were previously organised separately, while also serving as a platform for entrepreneurs to take a new step towards wider, global advancement," he said. The carnival also saw 57 people come together this afternoon in a jaw-dropping feat to pull a 13-tonne bus over 20 metres, earning an MBOR recognition for the Most Participants in a Bus Pulling Challenge. The record was among six MBOR achievements by Felda in conjunction with MK3D, which also included the first synchronised orchestral performance involving 735 musicians and the largest-ever carom competition with over 1,400 players.

Felda communities to boost economy with RM100k village allocation
KUALA LUMPUR: The Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) has unveiled plans to utilise the government's RM100,000 allocation per village to enhance socio-economic development across settler communities. Key initiatives include tourism projects, SME support, and infrastructure upgrades tailored to local needs. In Selangor, Hassan Mukmin Amat, a second-generation settler, proposed developing recreational attractions like an ATV park to boost tourism. 'Sungai Bernam is already popular among anglers, so we can capitalise on that,' he said. In Terengganu, Mat Zain Mat Uyob plans to purchase a tractor to reduce palm oil transportation costs.
