Female Leader Oversees Bahrain
Bahrain's role in the region's fast-expanding AI and automation landscape has received a boost with the appointment of Sara Al-Alsheikh as UiPath's Regional Vice President and Managing Director for Bahrain, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia.
She becomes the first woman to hold this position at the global automation company, which is known for helping businesses and governments deploy software robots and AI agents to streamline complex processes.
Regional push includes Bahrain
The move comes as UiPath intensifies its presence across the Gulf, responding to growing demand for AI-powered tools that reduce manual workloads, improve efficiency, and accelerate digital transformation.
Bahrain is expected to play a more active role in this expansion, particularly in sectors such as banking, public services, and energy, where automation is increasingly reshaping internal operations.
Al-Alsheikh, who is based in Riyadh, will lead client engagement and growth strategy across Bahrain, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia.
She brings over a decade of experience from major global firms including HP, IBM, and SAP, and has worked with Gulfbased clients on large-scale technology deployments.
Her appointment marks a milestone not just for UiPath but for the region's tech leadership landscape.
As part of her mandate, Al-Alsheikh will guide the rollout of UiPath's agentic automation platform, which combines AI and human collaboration to automate everything from finance workflows to citizen services.
'My mission is to help our clients reimagine how work gets done faster, smarter, and more autonomously,' she said, describing the company's software as a core driver of innovation across public and private sectors.
Focus on Bahrain's opportunity
With Bahrain included in her portfolio, attention now turns to how local institutions will respond to this regional push.
While UiPath has a relatively low profile in Bahrain compared to Saudi Arabia, its software is already in use globally by governments and Fortune 500 firms to automate operations and reduce administrative bottlenecks.
Al-Alsheikh's appointment is expected to support local adoption, particularly if awareness-building and training are embedded in the expansion strategy.
Her leadership reflects broader Vision 2030 goals shared across the Gulf, which emphasise both digital transformation and gender inclusion.

Car Imports in Bahrain Jump 15% in First Half of 2025 Amid Growing Demand
TDT | Manama Bahrain has imported more than 22,200 vehicles in the first six months of 2025, marking a 15% increase compared to the same period last year, according to official figures. In the first half of 2024, the Kingdom brought in around 19,400 vehicles. The growth reflects rising consumer demand, supported by a booming local market, population growth, ongoing housing expansion projects, and increased consumer lending activity, especially in the auto sector. This upward trend has been building steadily since the end of the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2024, Bahrain recorded the highest annual car imports since 2017, with 44,216 vehicles brought in. Back in 2017, imports had exceeded 47,000 cars. January 2025 stood out as the busiest month in over eight years, with 5,365 vehicles imported — a sign of strong momentum at the start of the year. This surge was fueled by end-of-year promotional offers and credit facilities from banks and finance companies. On the other hand, May 2025 recorded the lowest number of imports in the first half of the year, with just 2,453 vehicles. Industry experts link this dip to recurring seasonal factors such as school exams and the summer holiday period. The sustained growth signals improving consumer confidence and a broader base of younger buyers entering the market. It also highlights the role of stable and flexible customs policies, which are making it easier to import vehicles through Khalifa Bin Salman Port, the main gateway for the Kingdom's commercial goods. Bahrain's auto market typically sees 28,000 to 35,000 new vehicles sold each year, according to local dealership data. In addition to new car sales, the country also hosts a vibrant used car market, with imports primarily from the United States, Japan, and South Korea.
