Teaser released for Spinal Tap II as Elton John confirmed for cameo
The brief clip shows an amp being set to maximum as the release date is revealed as September.
The sequel to the 1984 cult film This Is Spinal Tap will see British-US actor Christopher Guest and US stars Michael McKean and Harry Shearer reunite with director Rob Reiner.
A teaser said the film will turn it 'up to 11″ and added that Sir Elton, Sir Paul and US country singers Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood will make cameo appearances.
The number 11 is a reference to Nigel Tufnel (Guest) – the guitarist in 'one of England's loudest bands' – showing off in the original film that his amp goes higher the standard top setting of 10.
Also appearing will be Canadian singer Paul Shaffer, The Nanny star Fran Drescher and British comedians Nina Conti, Kerry Godliman and Chris Addison.
McKean plays lead singer David St Hubbins, Shearer is bassist Derek Smalls and Reiner was the original film's documentarian Martin 'Marty' DiBergi.
In the original, Drescher played Bobbi Flekman of Polymer Records, who criticised the band's album cover for being 'sexist', while Shaffer was Artie Fufkin, also of the label.
The 1984 film poked fun at heavy rock bands for their backstage antics, ridiculous outfits and serious musicians, and was critically acclaimed for skewering the genre.
Nearly a decade ago, Reiner and the actors sued French media group Vivendi and its subsidiary StudioCanal for hundreds of millions of pounds over claims that the studio withheld profits from the film, its music and its merchandise.
They reportedly settled the lawsuit in 2020.
Spinal Tap have briefly performed as a real band, reuniting for a tribute to Freddie Mercury, Glastonbury and environmental Live Earth concerts.
In 2009, the mock group were nominated for Classic Rock magazine's Roll of Honour.
Reiner has also directed The Princess Bride and A Few Good Men, both featuring Guest, and When Harry Met Sally.
McKean and Guest worked together on comedy films Best In Show, For Your Consideration and A Mighty Wind, as well as Chris O'Dowd-starring BBC show Family Tree, which had mockumentary and spoof elements.

The presenter and I'm A Celebrity alum was spotted in a video posted on M&S' Instagram page in which he sported as series of their new summer jackets - and one was a hit With summer finally here, many of us are enjoying days where we don't need to worry about wearing a jacket out during the daytime. But come nightfall, it's inevitable - with the typical British weather - that we'll need a lightweight jacket to keep our arms and shoulders cosy. Vernon Kay has teamed up with Marks & Spencer to showcase a few of its sunshine worthy jackets that'll keep the chill at bay without causing the wearer to overheat - and one jacket in particular has shopping loving it's 'good quality' that rivals some of the more expensive denim competitors. The M&S Collection Denim Jacket costs £50 and comes in both a mid blue shade as well as an ecru. Available in sizes M to 3XL in blue and S to 3XL in ecru, the jacket offers a 'new take on a timeless design classic'. Made with a relatively roomy fit, the garment is made from 'soft yet durable' material that ensures added comfort - especially with its smooth lining. Different to your typical denim jacket look - such as the Levi's Trucker, £120, or Wrangler's Classic Denim Jacket, £100 both of which have more of a loose, rounded fit with stitching and silverware decorating the pockets and buttons - M&S' chore style coat has more of a boxy design with two patch pockets on the chest and two larger pockets underneath near the hem. While Vernon Kay sported a series of different jacket's in the video shared on M&S ' Instagram page (including the Faux Suede Harrington Jacket, £70), shoppers were keen to know where to get the first denim jacket from the website, with many people commenting on the post: "Looking smart Vernon", and "Looking summery and sharp". With a 4.8 star rating on the Marks and Spencer website, the brand's Instagram followers aren't the only ones loving Vernon's look as the jacket has an impressive 4.8 star rating, with one shopper citing: "I chose this jacket because the design took denim jackets to a new level of flair. I was not disappointed and love the look and the feel of it - well made and decent material." Although they did reflect: "A possible quibble is that straight pockets do not make putting my hands in them comfortable. Slanting pockets would be easier but would this significantly alter the design?" "Looks fab great fabric fits like a glove great all rounder jacket," said another happy shopper, while a third added: "This jacket is outstanding. It's well-constructed, stylish, and offers excellent value for money. The sizing is spot on—I'm 5'8" and weigh 68kg, and the small size fits perfectly. It's versatile, too: great for wearing over a T-shirt during an English summer, and can easily be layered over a jumper or hoodie when the weather gets cooler." Someone else said it was a "very good product, half the price of some of its competitors." While most comments had no qualms with the jacket, a small number of people offered up some improvement suggestions. One said: "Good quality in general although collar slightly misaligned which is why it gets 4stars." Another four star shopper said: "Only one inner pocket that is oddly on the right side of the jacket. That's unusable to me especially as it is high up," although they did state how they've been told wearing the jacket makes him 'look younger in it'. Sonay Kartal relaxed in the spotlight as she prepares for Wimbledon's last 16
All eyes are on Kartal as the only British woman to reach the fourth round after Emma Raducanu's brave defeat by top seed Aryna Sabalenka on Friday night. Should she beat Russian veteran Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova on Centre Court on Sunday, the 23-year-old will become the first British woman to reach the last eight since Johanna Konta in 2019. Kartal was back on court on Saturday, playing doubles with her close friend and fellow Briton Jodie Burrage. 'She's definitely got more cameras on her now. I have noticed that,' said Burrage. 'That's expected, you know. 'It was nice to play a doubles match with that atmosphere. It was packed on that court. Unfortunately we couldn't get them going a little bit more because we lost. 'But it was fun. She is taking it like a champion. She loves the limelight.' Kartal rolls her eyes, not for the first time, as her pal gently teases her. But the Brighton pro's run in SW19 has captured the public's imagination, as she found out on Friday evening after her third-round win over Diane Parry. 'I went to the shops and it was a bit tricky,' she said. 'That's something I will have to get used to for the next few weeks. Someone said I should get the vintage polo top that I've been wearing, I don't know if it is possible. Maybe a fire and ice tattoo. I like that – but it would remind me of Jodie!' Kartal found out she will be making her debut on Centre Court on Sunday just before she played her doubles match, and she has no intention of it being her last time this fortnight. 'It's a huge honour to play on that court. A court that you dream of,' she said. 'The way I am looking at it is that it's a slightly bigger Court One. Warming up on Court One a couple of days ago will help me. I will feel much better walking out on Centre. 'I know I am far from finished yet. I have done one week – got another week to go to the finish line. 'There have been some crazy results. I have been given a good spot in the draw, things have opened up. I am excited and will enjoy every second.'
