Amherstburg man arrested in North Bay after ramming cruisers and fleeing, police say

Police in northern Ontario have arrested and charged an Amherstburg man after he allegedly rammed two cruisers while fleeing officers.
The incident began last week, when police in North Bay, Ont., got a call from the Windsor Police Service about "an active investigation," according to a press release. The man in question already "had an outstanding warrant from a previous North Bay incident," the North Bay Police Service said Friday.
North Bay police found the man in the city, per the press release. "When officers attempted to stop and contain his vehicle using two police cruisers, the accused rammed the vehicles and fled the scene."
Police in North Bay then called in the help of the OPP's canine and other units. "The accused was located and arrested without further incident by Parry Sound OPP and then transported back to North Bay, where he was formally charged," North Bay police said.
The 28-year-old man faces several charges, including cocaine trafficking, flight from a peace officer, failure to comply with a probation order, and dangerous operation of a conveyance.
"This arrest highlights the importance of inter-agency cooperation and the commitment of our officers, who acted quickly and effectively to locate and apprehend a wanted individual who posed a significant risk to public safety," Inspector Scott McFarlane of the North Bay Police Service said in the press release.
Police said the accused was held in custody and appeared for a show cause bail hearing.
