Beyoncé Speaks Out After 'Terrifying' Tour Malfunction Sparks Concern Among Fans

Yahoo2 days ago
Beyoncé has spoken out after an incident at her homecoming show in Texas over the weekend which left fans worried for her safety.
Those who've been following Bey's Cowboy Carter tour for the last couple of months will know that it ends with a rendition of 16 Carriages, during which the record-breaking Grammy winner flies over the audience in a convertible car.
However, clips from Saturday night's show quickly began doing the rounds on social media, after the Crazy In Love singer suffered a prop malfunction at the end of her performance in Houston, Texas.
Footage shared online from the show saw Bey bringing the performance to an abrupt halt after the car began to tilt, after she was lowered to the ground and finished the song.

A statement posted on Beyoncé's production company Parwood Entertainment's Instagram official page shortly afterwards read: 'Tonight in Houston, at NRG Stadium, a technical mishap caused the flying car, a prop Beyoncé uses to circle the stadium, and see her fans up close, to tilt.
'She was quickly lowered and no one was injured. The show continued without incident.'
Beyoncé then made light of the incident in a post on her personal Instagram, sharing footage from her Houston shows alongside the caption: 'Sittin' sidewayz.'

The following night, Beyoncé skipped 16 Carriages from the setlist, instead performing closing number Amen on stage.
Beyoncé now has just a handful of stops across the United States left on her Cowboy Carter tour, in support of her country-inspired eighth studio album, which was named Album Of The Year at the Grammys back in February.
Much has been made in the press of the fact that the Cowboy Carter tour has not been sold out, although it has received near-unanimous praise from critics throughout its run.

Post Malone falls as stage breaks apart during Arizona concert

NEW YORK — Post Malone toppled off the stage while performing in Arizona this past weekend, when part of the stage broke apart beneath him. Footage filmed by an audience member shows the 18-time Grammy nominee, real name Austin Richard Post, waltzing up toward the edge of the stage holding up a red Solo cup and leaning down to toast with the fan filming Saturday in Glendale, Arizona. Their cups are about to make contact when the edge of the stage cracks off and the 'Sunflowers' singer, 29, topples out of sight, according to the now-viral video. 'I didn't mean to almost break your back,' the clip is captioned. That's a nod to the 'Pour Me a Drink' lyric, 'Yeah I've been breakin' my back,' which is what the Syracuse native was crooning just before he fell. The fan who posted the clip added, 'I am SO sorry Austin. I love you! Such an amazing show.' Billboard reports that Post quickly returned to the stage and resumed his performance at State Farm Stadium as if nothing happened, raising his cup once again to applause. At the time of publication, Post does not appear to have spoken about the incident, at least not on his Instagram. The show is part of Post's 'The Big Ass Stadium Tour,' which is set to head to Europe next month before returning stateside next spring. Post, who recently headlined Coachella, announced the tour back in November. But the year hasn't been all 'Sunflowers' and rainbows for Post, whose ex-fiancée Hee Sung 'Jamie' Park requested full physical custody of their 3-year-old daughter in April. The following month, Post reportedly filed a motion to dismiss his ex's petition.

HBCU Coach's Style Lands Her on Essence Festival Panel

NEW ORLEANS - On the sidelines, Alabama A&M head women's basketball coach Dawn Thornton is more than a strategist-she's a whole vibe. Thornton's presence is impossible to ignore, whether calling plays or calling attention with her bold game day fashion. Her signature looks have racked up over seven million views on Instagram this season alone. Now, the world beyond HBCU basketball is taking notice. Coach Thornton is set to join BeautyCon's highly anticipated "Play the Game, Get the Look" panel at the Essence Festival of Culture in New Orleans on July 5, a celebration of how style, beauty, and confidence intersect-both on the court and in culture. This year's Essence Festival is especially meaningful, marking the 55th anniversary of Essence Magazine under the theme "Made Like This." BeautyCon's platform is spotlighting women from the South who are shaping beauty narratives and pushing back against outdated, one-dimensional standards. Thornton embodies that mission perfectly. "My style is definitely an extension of who I am," Thornton shared. "It's confident, intentional, and sometimes a little extra-in the best way. That's how I coach, too. I'm big on presence and energy. Your preparation is your separation. Confidence isn't just taught-it's modeled. I want my players to always see that in me." For Dawn Thornton, fashion isn't just about aesthetics-it's a form of leadership. Her dynamic looks send a clear message to her HBCU student-athletes: You can be powerful, poised, and unapologetically yourself. "I want my players to know it's okay to stand out, to take pride in how you show up, and to lead with confidence on and off the court," she said. "You don't have to dim your light to lead. There's strength in owning who you are. If I can show up in a bold outfit and handle business, it shows them they can do the same in any space." In an industry where Black women are often pressured to shrink themselves to fit outdated expectations, Thornton refuses. "There's this idea that coaches, especially Black women, have to look or act a certain way to be taken seriously. I don't subscribe to that," she said. "I show up as myself-fully-and I coach with passion and excellence. That alone shifts the narrative." The "Play the Game, Get the Look" panel will dive deep into how beauty trends born in sports culture influence the wider world, especially in Black communities. The conversation will also explore how looking and feeling good feeds into the mindset of winning-on any stage. The connection between Dawn Thornton's HBCU hoops gameday fits and her coaching philosophy is seamless. "Game day is a whole vibe, and my look is part of the energy I bring," she explained. "Sometimes the goal is to make a bold statement. Other times, it's about feeling grounded and confident in my own skin. Either way, it's part of the game plan. How I show up visually matters just as much as how I show up mentally." Essence Festival and BeautyCon will run July 3–6, with daily events from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans. The event promises a vibrant mix of culture, conversation, and community, celebrating Black women in all their power, beauty, and brilliance. Tyreek Hill's messy divorce gets uglier as estranged wife blasts NFL star for trying to ‘silence and intimidate' her

Tyreek Hill and Keeta Vaccaro are continuing to trade jabs through their divorce proceedings. Vaccaro has accused the Dolphins wideout of trying to silence and intimidate her, according to a filing by her lawyers that was obtained Tuesday by the Daily Mail, which was in response to Hill's motion requesting a gag order on their legal battle, originally filed by his attorneys on June 23. 'In terms of purpose, the Husband's motion is a clear attempt to silence and intimidate wife's counsel and control the representation that she receives in this litigation,' Vaccaro's legal team stated, accusing Hill of displaying a 'pattern of coercive control' in the matter. Instagram/Keeta Vaccaro 'The Goose-Gander Rule is instructive, and its application reveals the hypocrisy of husband's position,' Vaccaro's lawyers said. 'He wants to silence the wife's lawyers while his own pleadings disparage and denigrate the wife.' Advertisement The remarks from Vaccaro's lawyers were in reference to Hill's June 23 filing, in which his attorneys, Michael Gottlieb and Christi Bright, asked Miami Judge Spencer Multack to prohibit Vaccaro from making 'denigrating, disparaging and uncivil statements' that may harm his reputation in future filings. 5 Tyreek Hill speaks onstage at the Catching Fire panel at Fanatics Fest NYC 2025 at Javits Center on June 21, 2025 in New York City. Getty Images In her response, Vaccaro's attorneys, Evan Marks and Carolyn West, said the eight-time Pro Bowler wants a special grant for a gag order 'because he is famous' and doesn't want to 'look bad.' Vaccaro also alleged Hill, with whom she shares an 8-month-old daughter, Capri, hasn't paid temporary spousal or child support, among other things. Advertisement 'In the context of Husband not providing exclusive use of the martial residence, not providing use of a vehicle, not providing temporary spousal or child support or attorney's fees pendente lite, not agreeing to any timesharing schedule if it is not 50/50 and other behaviors and demands of Husband, the motion is another example of the Husband's pattern of coercive control, and it must be denied, because there is no legal basis for it,' her filing read. Since filing for divorce from Hill earlier this year, the split between Vaccaro and the Dolphins wideout has only gotten messier. Hill — currently entering his fourth season with the Dolphins amid offseason trade rumors — accused Vaccaro of stealing cash and 'fraudulently obtaining access' to his financial accounts to make unauthorized transfers to herself, her business and her 62-year-old mom, according to the Daily Mail. Instagram/Keeta Vaccaro 'Three days before he filed his motion to enjoin, he filed a pleading in which he alleged, through counsel, that the wife 'has a history of stealing; and related statements, leading to the publication of one article with the headline: 'NFL Star Tyreek Hill Accuses Ex Keeta of Stealing From Him,'' Vaccaro's attorneys wrote. 'Instead of asking this court to enjoin the husband's lawyers from making such statements, the wife is marshalling the evidence that she will present to prove they are false.' 5 Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill (10) practices during mandatory minicamp at Hard Rock Stadium on June 10, 2025. IMAGN IMAGES via Reuters Connect Vaccaro filed for divorce in April, calling her marriage to Hill 'irretrievably broken.' The filing took place a day after police responded to a domestic dispute at their Miami residence, during which Capri was present. Vaccaro's mother, Alesia Vaccaro, said she called 911 because she feared for her daughter's safety after seeing a 'very aggressive and impulsive' Hill throw a laptop on the floor and walk toward the 35th-floor balcony with her granddaughter, according to an incident report. Police said Capri appeared to be in good health, but did notice a bruise on Vaccaro's upper chest. No arrests were made in the incident. The motion requested temporary exclusive use of the couple's home for Vaccaro, along with limiting Hill's access to Capri to 'supervised timesharing.' Advertisement Hill and Vaccaro tied the knot during Miami's bye week in November 2023, after the pair had been engaged since July 2021. Hill has three children with ex-fiancée Crystal Espinal — son Zev and twins Nakeem and Nyla — in addition to multiple alleged children from other relationships.
