Iran holds state funeral for slain leaders

TEHRAN (AFP)Iran began a state funeral service Saturday in Tehran for around 60 people, including military commanders killed in its conflict with Israel.The proceedings started at 8:00am local time (0430 GMT) in the capital Tehran, with government offices and many businesses closed on Saturday for the occasion."The ceremony to honour the martyrs has officially started," state TV said, showing footage of thousands waving Iranian flags and holding pictures of the slain military commanders.Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, along with other senior government officials and military commanders also attended the event.Of the 60 people who are to be laid to rest after the ceremony, four are children and four are women.
The Israeli strikes on Iran killed at least 627 civilians, Tehran's health ministry said. Iran's attacks on Israel killed 28 people, according to Israeli figures.

Number of Palestinians killed by Israeli forces rises to 21
The number of Palestinians killed across Gaza since early Saturday morning has reached 21 after they were 14 earlier, according to Al Jazeera Arabic. This includes six killed in an Israeli air strike that targeted a tent in al-Mawasi area, west of Khan Younis in southern Gaza.
