
Three dead in Ontario cottage country, murder suspect still at large

It has been three days since Ontario Provincial Police responded to reports of gunfire north of Bracebridge.
According to police, officers responded to the call shortly after 8 p.m. on Aug. 1, in the area of Beatrice Town Road. When they arrived on scene, police found a deceased male and a house fully engulfed in flames.
A shelter-in-place was initiated around 9:30 p.m. as officers responded to a potentially armed individual in distress.
The shelter-in-place was lifted early Saturday morning around 1:45 a.m. and there is no longer a threat to public safety.
In a second update from OPP on Saturday, Aug. 2, police identified an individual wanted for murder.
Twenty-nine-year-old Mitchell Gray from Bracebridge is currently wanted for murder. Police describe him as a white male, 5′8″ with light brown hair and facial hair. He was last seen on Friday, Aug. 1.

In a third update by Bracebridge OPP on Sunday, Aug. 3, police said they discovered two additional deceased individuals within the residence that was destroyed by the fire.
Their identities cannot be confirmed until a post-mortem examination is conducted.
In a statement to CTV News, Bracebridge Mayor Rick Maloney said, 'We appreciate the efforts of all our emergency services who responded to this tragic incident, especially our OPP. Our hearts and thoughts are with the family of the victims.'
OPP remain tightlipped on the ongoing death and arson investigation and have not released any additional information.
Police are asking anyone with additional information to contact the OPP or Crime Stoppers.

(File) A 52-year-old woman injured in a collision with a vessel on Lake Nepahwin last week has died of her injuries. The collision took place around 11 a.m. on Aug. 1 and she died in hospital Aug. 2, Sudbury police said. 'According to witnesses, (the) woman was swimming in open water when it appeared that she was struck by a passing vessel,' police said in the original news release. 'The victim sustained significant injuries and received immediate assistance from individuals on scene.' Members of the police's traffic safety unit continue to investigate the collision. 11-year-old killed in off-road vehicle crash north of Capreol
The 11-year-old victim was pronounced deceased after being airlifted to hospital Sunday afternoon. An 11-year-old who was a passenger in an off-road vehicle was killed near Capreol Sunday afternoon when they were ejected from the vehicle. Greater Sudbury police said the tragedy took place on an unnamed road near Portelance Road, north of Capreol. 'Information provided was that two individuals were riding in a side-by-side when the driver lost control of the off-road vehicle and the passenger was ejected,' police said in a news release Monday. 'The passenger, an 11-year-old youth, was airlifted to the hospital. Unfortunately, the youth was pronounced deceased by medical professionals.' The investigation is ongoing, police said by the traffic safety unit. Anyone with information related to this incident is asked to contact police at 705-675-9171.
