Ironheart (2025) – Episode 2 Recap & Review

The Review Geek26-06-2025
Episode 2
Despite it being the last thing she'd want, Riri wakes up to find that Natalie is the model for her new AI. She immediately attempts to change that, but she doesn't know how, and she doesn't have the time.
In a matter of minutes, she must leave to meet her new team. On her way out, Xavier invites her to a party with him on the weekend, to which she happily accepts.
Parker Robbins, the Hood, gives her a run-down of the group. Slug is their hacker and one of the most-wanted people in Madripoor. Jeri and Roz Blood, the Blood siblings, are their brute force.
Clown is their pyro specialist. John is Parker's cousin and is responsible for many tasks, like recruiting and driving. Then, he explains their plan to sabotage TNNL, which wants to turn Chicago's freight tunnels into a private highway and negotiate with them. Still, the only thing on Riri's mind is when she's getting paid.
She still needs a few tools for her suit to work, so she orders her AI, now N.A.T.A.L.I.E., to find someone who can sell her the parts. Before that, she doesn't forget to lock the AI to her laptop, so it won't mess anything up while she's away.
To Riri's surprise, her black market dealer is a coward who can't stand up for himself. So she quickly gets him to take her to where he has the parts she needs.
Meanwhile, N.A.T.A.L.I.E. is snooping into Riri's laptop to find her photos with the real Natalie. Inspired by them, it finds a way to hack its way out of the computer. Although it reveals itself to Riri's mother, the woman appears happy to see Natalie once again.
Things are going well for the protagonist as well since she has just arrived at the dealer's hideout. They talk for a minute, and he questions her reason for building the suit, but she doesn't give him a proper answer. As soon as she's ready, she rushes out of there to do the heist.
Riri joins clown and flies right into the tunnel system. The plan is running smoothly until N.A.T.A.L.I.E. hijacks the armor and surprises the girl, which makes her drop the hard drive containing a virus important to their scheme.
They quickly think up a new plan to override and shut down the system, showing they can work well together. Then, Parker blackmails TNNL's leader inside her own car, as the hood allows him to go invisible and hide there.
Before leaving for a team meeting, Riri celebrates with N.A.T.A.L.I.E. However, when a guard spots them, the AI freezes and glitches. Because of that, the girl can't take control of the iron suit and almost gets shot.
Hood saves here in time by shooting the guard's shoulder, giving them time to run away. Later, she asks Clown about their leader, and she says the only weird thing about him is that he has some sort of mark on his back. Riri doesn't get to ask anything about that, as John tells her it's good to stay away from people's matters.
Parker congratulates the whole group for the heist and tells them they'll reach the greatness they deserve. When he's alone, though, the marks on his back start growing like roots, hurting him. His cousin sees that and tries to convince him to stop using the hood, but he refuses. Someone messed with his life when he was younger, setting him on this new path.
The Episode Review
It's an odd choice to have the second episode of your six-episode miniseries focus on Riri getting parts for her armor, but that's exactly what happens. During practically half of this episode, Riri goes after an arms dealer and talks with him. It's not a bad joke per-se, but seeing him being a coward isn't funny enough to justify that. Also, we don't get to learn anything new about Riri or see him doing exciting things with the suit.
Thankfully, her mission does a good job at that. It's fun seeing her flying through the tunnels and thinking up a new plan with the AI. The afterparty also shows the Hood as a charismatic leader.
It's probably the first time in MCU history that seeing a villain for longer without their costume is a good choice. The 'roots' on his back also set the stage for the magical elements of the show and for his motivation, which can be interesting.
Still, it's hard to enjoy his part of the plot. Like in the first episode, their actions almost do not weigh on Riri's mind. The only thing that makes her hesitate is seeing Hood shoot the guard, but she quickly forgets that.
The show tries to put that as the reason she asks about him, but it's not convincing. If she was surprised by his actions, she should be suspicious of the whole group and their motives. She only asks about him to advance the plot.
It's also weird to think that Ironheart doesn't focus more on N.A.T.A.L.I.E. here. Even though she's still grieving Natalie's death, she only has mixed feelings about the AI at the start. Again, as they need to move on with the plot, she accepts its help.
We do get a few emotional moments out of it, but they are few and far between. It's just another sign that the series will have quite a few problems with character work.

Amber Heard thanks her 'supporters' as she wraps latest acting project after Johnny Depp trial fallout

Amber Heard took to Instagram on Saturday to thank her fans as she wraps her final performance of her play Spirit of the People. The 39-year-old superstar — who showed off her toned physique on Friday — posed with multiple bouquets of flowers and added a sentimental caption. 'Thank you to all of my fans and supporters for making this already unforgettable weekend so much more beautiful,' she wrote to her five million followers. Amber added: 'The flowers won't last forever but the memories of all the love and support I received through this will.' She has spent the past several weeks performing at the Williamstown Theater Festival in Massachusetts. Earlier this week the Texas-bred star was showered with support from fans on Instagram as she shared a glowing selfie. Reflecting on her imminent final performance, she captioned the image, 'Lucky to be stealing one final breath before this weekend's final performances. Last chance to see Spirit of the People at @wtfestival!' Her fans expressed their excitement about her comeback in her comments section. 'Amber! We're so proud of you!!!', wrote one person, while another said, 'Wish I could see the play again! You were absolutely incredible in it ❤️❤️❤️ I hope you have a great final weekend with the festival!' Another person gushed, 'Getting to see you live was literally one of the best moments of my life, you're amazing!!' Other notes read, 'Our queen is THRIVING', and 'Beautiful as always and mastering your craft. Keep glowing and growing. ❤️' Three years ago Amber resolved her bitter court case with ex-husband Johnny Depp. She made a sensational return to acting last month, following the birth of her twins in May and her widely publicized defamation trial with ex Johnny. After stepping back into the spotlight, the Hollywood siren was cast as Genevieve in Jeremy O. Harris' play. Amber was previously wed to Pirates of The Caribbean star Johnny from 2015 to 2017, and they were involved in a high-profile defamation trial in 2022. She was ordered to pay the actor $10 million in compensatory damages and $350,000 in punitive damages, which she argued she didn't have. The jury awarded the actress $2 million in compensatory damages for her countersuit against Johnny. She is now a mother-of-three, as she has four-year-old daughter Oonagh in addition to her newborn twins — daughter Agnes and son Ocean.

Comedian and lifelong Dodgers fan George Lopez 'hurt' after team apparently blocked him over ICE criticism

Comedian George Lopez has claimed the Los Angeles Dodgers have blocked him on social media after criticizing the organization for a perceived lack of action over ICE raids in the city. The 64-year-old has been a vociferous opponent of ICE and has called for his beloved Dodgers to stand up more publicly in support of immigrants in the community. When tension around the raids were at their highest, however, the World Series champions came in for criticsm when singer Nezza was apparently told not to sing the national anthem in Spanish before a mid-June game against San Francisco Giants. On July 12, Lopez claimed on social media that the Dodgers - who visited Donald Trump in the White House earlier this year - blocked him over his opposition to the team, something he has now told People he finds 'hurtful'. Last month, he posted a video on social media of him dancing with the upload captioned: 'POV: You just got blocked by the Dodgers'. In a passionate post, he wrote alongside his upload: 'The Dodgers blocked me on social media for my criticism of the team, so they'll take a stand on me, but not on the treatment of the families who called Chavez Ravine Home before they decided to build a baseball stadium where they lived and where their families called home.' View this post on Instagram A post shared by George Lopez (@georgelopez) Chavez Ravine was a Los Angeles neighborhood home to a largely low-income Hispanic community that was displaced to make way for Dodger Stadium to be built. The stadium eventually opened in 1962 as the Brooklyn Dodgers relocated to Los Angeles to make the ballpark their home. Lopez's July post continued: 'Also no comment from the owners (on ICE).What's happening everyday to the families of the people who are being treated like they don't belong? If anyone doesnt belong it's the Dodgers. 'Maybe since the Dodgers have stayed silient on the issue of the treatment and enforcement of ICE on the Latino Community, maybe at the next fan fest or homestand they can have ICE Agents or these bounty hunters dress up as the visiting team and during the 7th inning stretch they can remove fans, since their loyalty to the team means nothing to them.' The Dodgers, who have been offered the chance to comment by Daily Mail, have not yet spoken publicly about Lopez's claims. But the team did donate $1million in support of families of immigrants impacted by ICE raids in June. Dodgers president and CEO, Stan Kasten, said in a statement: 'What's happening in Los Angeles has reverberated among thousands upon thousands of people, and we have heard the calls for us to take a leading role on behalf of those affected. 'We believe that by committing resources and taking action, we will continue to support and uplift the communities of Greater Los Angeles.' On June 19, the Dodgers said on social media that ICE agents had been denied entry to their ballpark. Their post read: 'This morning, ICE agents came to Dodger Stadium and requested permission to access the parking lots. They were denied entry to the grounds by the organization. Tonight's game will be played as scheduled.' Lopez has made no secret of his lifelong Dodgers fandom. In a piece he wrote for ESPN in 2016, he underlined his love for the team and recalled how awestruck he felt when he went to Dodger Stadium for the first time. 'I'll never forget seeing Dodger Stadium for the first time. Little did I know that going to Dodger games would become a tradition for my family,' he wrote. 'I've gone to Dodger Stadium with regularity in the years since... My seats now are a lot better than my 75-cent ticket to the left field pavilion, but nothing is better than looking out from the seats behind home plate and imagining my grandparents both still there.' Trump welcomed the Dodgers to the White House in April to commemorate their 2024 World Series triumph.
