Motocross 2025 450 results, highlights, finish at RedBud: Jett Lawrence remains unstoppable
Jett revealed yet again that he has been toying with the competition. After last week's absolutely dominant performance at Southwick, Jett showed a different side to his strength. He won Moto 1 in his usual manner (with a margin of 16 seconds), but got a poor start in Moto 2. While trying to make up the differential, he crashed on Lap 1 and completed that lap in 18th. Jett passed five riders on Lap 2 and was inside the top 10 by Lap 3. One lap later, he was in the top five and had a podium position by Lap 6.
In 11 laps, Jett passed nearly half the field and established his lead, which he then stretched to more than eight seconds. When the dust settled, he earned the maximum number of points (50) and ended with a points lead greater than one full round. Equally important, there was a change of position in second behind him because of a horrible outing for Eli Tomac.

Hunter Lawrence finished second in Moto 1 in a secure spot, 16 seconds behind Jett and nearly 13 seconds ahead of RJ Hampshire, who scored his first moto podium of 2025. Hunter was passed by Justin Cooper late in the second race and lost an additional two points to his brother, but he left Michigan second in the championship standings. He is currently 51 points behind Jett.
Cooper still seeks his first moto win in the 450 division, but he replicated his best result with a second-place finish in Moto 2. Coupled with a fourth in the first race, he finished third overall, earned five points more than the SuperMotocross League points leader, Chase Sexton, and closed in on the No. 1 seed for the playoffs.
Hampshire's third-place finish in Moto 1 is a career best. So is his fourth-place overall showing after he finished sixth in the second moto. Last week at Southwick, he came close to cracking the top five with a sixth overall.

Sexton returned to racing even though he might not have been 100 percent. Partly that was in an attempt to stave off the charge by Cooper for the top playoff seed, and partly because it's difficult to sit on the sidelines too long. Sexton revealed he has been battling health issues more than an injury, but even at a diminished capacity, he finished in the top five overall with results of fifth and fourth.
For a little while, it appeared Jorge Prado might get his first moto win. With Jett momentarily sidelined in Moto 2, Pardo led the first five laps. He faded to fifth at the checkers and finished sixth overall when his seventh-place Moto 1 result was added.
RedBud was disastrous for Tomac. He entered the race second in points, but still had a longshot chance to catch Jett. His bike had a different idea; it retired on Lap 10 while he was running third in Moto 1. Demoralized and suffering from a poor gate pick for the second race, he finished only seventh in Moto 2 to earn 15 points during the weekend. Tomac dropped to fourth in the Pro Motocross standings.
Tony Cairoli debuted the new Ducati dirt bike at RedBud and got off to a promising start with a ninth-place finish in Moto 1. The bike did not withstand the strain of Moto 2, but Cairoli was scored 14th overall.

Massive news about Jett Cleary after decision to split with Nathan and Ivan
Jett Cleary has been promoted from Jersey Flegg to NSW Cup in the Warriors' lower grades, and is now just one step away from making his NRL debut. The younger brother of Panthers star Nathan Cleary, 20-year-old Jett was named at halfback in the Warriors' NSW Cup team on Tuesday. With Luke Metcalf out for the season with an ACL injury, Tannah Boyd has stepped up to NRL level to play No.7. And with Te Maire Martin named on the bench in the first-grade side, it's opened up two positions in the halves in reserve grade. Cleary has played the majority of the season in Jersey Flegg - the Under-21 competition. But with the Warriors forced to shuffle their halves he's been handed a huge opportunity to show he belongs. Jett has played two games in NSW Cup so far this year, and didn't miss a beat. In his most recent game at the higher level in Round 17, the young halfback steered the Warriors to a 26-4 victory over Manly for the Warriors' 11th-straight win. Cleary will now be tasked with trying to continue the Warriors' winning streak in NSW Cup, and there's some impressive history on the line. The record for most-consecutive wins in NSW Cup is held by Parramatta (2005) and Cronulla (2013), who both won 13 on the trot. Cleary will be partnered by Luke Hansen in the halves - another Penrith junior. Cleary came through the Panthers system as a youngster, and Penrith fans thought he was destined to partner his brother in the halves one day. But he dropped a bombshell last year when he signed a three-year deal with the Warriors. He later explained he wants to forge his own path away from the pressure and expectation at Penrith. Nathan and father Ivan have won four-straight premierships with the Panthers, but Jett is keen to show he can make it on his own. "Obviously, there's Nathan and dad and they've got their own thing going in Penrith," he told TV network 1News in Auckland earlier this year. "I could've easily stayed there and rode what they're doing now because they are pretty successful, but I thought this was a good opportunity to step out of the limelight a bit and do it my own way and try succeed on my own." Jett was actually born in Auckland while father Ivan was an assistant coach at the Warriors. He lived in Auckland until he was 7, before the family moved back to Australia in 2012. "Most of the time I was in the creche in the little kids section (of the club). That was always fun," he said. "It's so weird because I used to joke with my mates and my mum that I'll go play for the Warriors one day. I always joke with mum that I kind of spoke it into existence I think, I love the Warriors and I've always wanted to play for them." Spring Creek Motocross betting, predictions, lines: Jett Lawrence dominance drags competition's champ odds
Jett Lawrence extended his points lead at RedBud to more than one full round, which triggered an interesting response from the official oddsmaker for Pro Motocross entering Spring Creek. Alt Sports Data gave him an opening line of -99900, effectively suggesting that sportsbooks eliminate the potential for bettors to wager on this outcome. That would also suggest that wagers were still being made by well-heeled individuals when he entered Southwick at -1127 and at RedBud at -1572. The significance of this is that subsequent lines were also massively altered. Last week, second-place rider Eli Tomac was listed at +532 for the championship. His raw odds opened this week at +4267 after a mechanical failure in Moto 1 at RedBud virtually ended Tomac's title hopes. Hunter Lawrence was +1718 to win the championship last week. Moving to second in points, he is currently listed at +2617. While the traders are correct that Jett will not be caught if he remains healthy, dirt bike racing is inherently unpredictable, and should an injury occur, now might be a good time to speculate. Jett injured his thumb in practice last year, and the same unlikely injury kept Tomac from starting the 2024 Motocross season. As for outright win odds, Jett also underwent a massive change from -307 to -800. The risk versus reward ratio is skewed to discourage a wager on the rider everyone knows is going to win, but that is again predicated on his health. Hunter (+475) remains the second-favored rider with a line barely changed from his +451 entering RedBud. He finished second overall with a second-place finish in Moto 1 and a third-place finish in the second race. Traders continue to think highly of Chase Sexton (+763), who is once more ranked third in odds. He did not look particularly crisp last week in Michigan, but he scored a top-five based on results of fifth and fourth. Surprisingly, his podium odds (as well as those for Jett and Hunter) were suggested to be at the same prohibitive level as Jett's championship line. Tomac's (1569) mechanical issue in Moto 1 altered the equation significantly. He was a compelling choice last week at +833 and is even more so at Spring Creek. Sexton (-173) and Tomac (+129) are also listed in a head-to-head matchup this week. At this stage of the season, Tomac is in better race shape. If he can put last week behind him, this could be an interesting wager. RJ Hampshire (-121) faces off against Tony Cairoli (-109) in another matchup. This is a novelty bet at best, but the debut of Ducati went well at RedBud, and they have had a week to work out the mechanical that sidelined Cairoli in Moto 2.
