Anshul Kamboj Likely To Make Debut In 4th IND-ENG Test At Old Trafford: Report
Last Updated: 24-year-old Anshul Kamboj has 79 wickets to his name in 24 first-class matches played so far. In his last red-ball match for India A, he picked up a total of four wickets. 24-year-old right-arm medium pacer Anshul Kamboj, who on Sunday (July 20) joined the Indian team in Manchester as cover for injured Arshdeep Singh and Akash Deep, in all likelihood will make his Test debut for India in the fourth red-ball match of the ongoing five-match series against England. According to a report in the Times of India on Sunday, 'There are high chances that Anshul could also be in line for his debut with pacer Akash Deep, who also limped off during the Lord's Test." Anshul, who has 79 wickets and 486 runs to his name in 24 first-class matches played so far, last played for India A in the two four-day matches against the England Lions and impressed with his all-round show. He dismissed one England Lions batter in the first match and picked up two wickets each in both innings of the second red-ball match played from June 6 to 9. In the second match, apart from his bowling, Anshul impressed with his batting and remained unbeaten on 51 runs from 86 balls as a No. 9 batter. It has been reported that Akash Deep and Arshdeep are likely to be out of the fourth Test due to injury-related issues, and that will open the doors for Anshul. Anshul, who made his IPL debut in 2024 for the Mumbai Indians and was part of the Chennai Super Kings setup in IPL 2025, is likely to get a nod ahead of Prasidh Krishna and Shardul Thakur. 'Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep won't be playing together in the remaining two Tests," a source was quoted as saying by TOI. 'It was decided before the tour that Bumrah will only play three Tests in this series, and now with Akash's back niggle flaring up, we can't see both of them playing in the XI together." 'If Bumrah plays in Manchester, then Akash will sit out. At The Oval, Akash will replace Bumrah," the source added. The fourth Test of the 2025 edition of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy will be played from July 23 to 27 at Old Trafford in Manchester. In the last 89 years, India has played a total of nine red-ball matches in Manchester but never managed to get the better of the English team. view comments First Published: July 20, 2025, 18:16 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. 'I Want You To Meet Mahi Bhai': How Urvil Patel Convinced Father To Watch Him Play
Last Updated: CSK's Urvil Patel has shared how he convinced his father to watch him play in IPL 2025 and meet MS Dhoni. Star Chennai Super Kings wicketkeeper-batter Urvil Patel has revealed that his parents hesitate to watch him play, but during IPL 2025, he convinced his father to come to the match venue to beat former India captain MS Dhoni, if not watch his son play as well. Urvil revealed how he dealt with the pressure ahead of his Indian Premier League debut as things turned around for him, from going unsold at the IPL 2025 mega auction to getting picked as a replacement cricketer. Urvil replaced the injured Vansh Bedi for Chennai midway through IPL 2025 but made an impact in the short duration. 'My parents hesitate to watch me play. I told my father that whether you watch the game or not, I want you to meet Mahi bhai. My father then especially came to watch the match because of him," Urvil said while speaking on the GC Podcast. 'He enjoyed it because there were a lot of families, and Kasi Sir was also there. There was an introduction and all, so he enjoyed it. At last, we met Mahi bhai at the hotel and it was a special moment for everyone," Urvil added. The youngster also said that before making his debut, he felt there would be pressure, but when he entered the ground, he didn't feel anything. 'At first, I thought there would be a lot of crowds. There will be pressure, but I don't know why, but when I made my debut, I didn't think about anything. I felt like I was playing in domestics," Urvil said. 'The only thing on my mind was that I had nothing to lose this year. I will only gain. Somewhere, I was fully blank," Urvil added. Only three days before his record 28-ball hundred against Tripura, the star wicketkeeper had gone unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction after being part of the Gujarat Titans' team in 2023 without playing a match. Urvil played three matches in IPL 2025, scoring 68 runs at a stunning strike rate of 212.5 and Chennai won two of those games. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
