Bridgewater police investigating after floating dock, portable toilet damaged by fire
The Bridgewater Police Service and Bridgewater Fire Department responded to Shipyards Landing on south King Street around 3:30 a.m. Sunday.
Police say, when they arrived, the southernmost section of the floating dock in the LaHave River at Shipyards Landing was on fire.
Crews extinguished the fire, but the dock was destroyed.
While at the scene, emergency responders noticed property owned by the Shipyard Shindig Music and Arts Festival, or its contractors, was also damaged.
Police say they then responded to a report of an overturned portable toilet that was lit on fire near Woodland Gardens and the DesBrisay Museum.
The Bridgewater Police Service is now asking for help from the public as they look for the person or persons who may be responsible for the damage.

Police issue arrest warrant for suspect in Yonge and Dundas stabbing

2 people shot in Winnipeg, sent to hospital in unstable condition
Social Sharing Two people were sent to hospital in unstable condition Tuesday afternoon after being shot in Winnipeg's St. James area. Police were called just before 3 p.m. but offered few details about the incident. They said nothing about the ages or sex of the victims, or if they are wildfire evacuees. "It's still in the early stages of the investigation and I don't have that information," Const. Stephen Spencer said. "They're still collecting evidence and video, talking to witnesses." Officers and investigators were seen on Tuesday going in and out of the Airport Motor Inn at the corner of Ellice Avenue and Berry Street, and police tape was stretched across the road at one end of the hotel. Spencer wouldn't confirm that's where the shooting occurred, only that it was the 1800 block of Ellice. The address of the Airport Motor Inn is 1800 Ellice. Spencer wouldn't say if the shooting happened inside or outside and had no information on the condition of the victims as of Wednesday morning. Thousands of people have been displaced from northern Manitoba due to wildfires with many being set up in hotels around Winnipeg, particularly those around the airport. Winnipeg police have previously said they are deploying extra officers to visit the shelters and hotels where evacuees are staying after concerns were raised by First Nations organizations about safety. Manitoba Keewatinowi Okimakanak, the organization that represents 26 northern Manitoba First Nations, said in a statement last week it is deeply concerned about the reports of drug trafficking in areas where evacuees are staying.

Huge fire in Bracebridge destroys home and outbuildings
With a plume of smoke seen for miles, a fire in the area of Matthiasville Road brought about 30 firefighters to extinguish the blaze. Six fire trucks were called to the Tuesday evening fire from Bracebridge Fire Department Stations 1 and 2, with another four firefighters monitoring the scene Wednesday morning. Plested said the home and at least two structures are a complete loss and it's not clear if the homeowner has insurance. The Ontario Fire Marshal's Office estimates the damage to be more than $1,000,000.
