Man arrested for murder of woman in Kerala's Thirunelly; victim's daugher traced
Dileesh, 37, a native of Pilakkavu Thara, was arrested from near an abandoned house inside a plantation close to the house where the woman was murdered.
He was on the terrace of a shuttered room adjacent to a dilapidated house and taken into custody with the help of forest department officials.
He was arrested in connection with the murder of Praveena, 34, a native of Edayoor Kunnu, at her house on Sunday night.
Following Dileesh's arrest, police also found Praveena's missing nine-year-old daughter. It is believed that Dileesh had taken shelter with the child by removing roof tiles and hiding inside the locked house.
Thirunelly Police later shifted the child to a secure location.
Praveena, who had been living separately from her husband, was allegedly in a relationship with Dileesh. It is suspected that a dispute between them led to the murder, which took place around 7.30pm on Sunday.
Praveena's older daughter, aged 14, sustained injuries to her neck and ear and was admitted to Wayanad govt medical college. Police has recorded her statement.

Following the murder, police launched a search for Dileesh and the missing child on Sunday night. On Monday morning, an extensive search was conducted with the help of locals, forest personnel, and the fire force. The search also involved a police dog squad and drone surveillance. Dileesh and the child were found around 10am on Monday.

Multiple burglaries: Two arrested from west Delhi
New Delhi: Delhi Police has arrested two men from central Delhi in connection with multiple burglary cases reported in Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Delhi. The duo had recently robbed a house in Old Rajendra Nagar, decamping with cash, gold, and diamond jewellery. The directive comes amid rising concerns that viral content 'shared inadvertently by personnel' was compromising operational secrecy and putting lives at risk. The order issued by Bastar range inspector general of police P Sundarraj, applies to jawans and officers deployed across all seven districts of Bastar, where anti-Maoist operations are frequently conducted under extreme conditions. Uzbek businesswoman held over ‘stolen' handbags at IGIA
New Delhi: A 60-year-old businesswoman from Uzbekistan, Mayramkan Karabasheva Alibaevna, has been arrested for allegedly stealing three ladies' handbags from the conveyor belt at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA). Police received a complaint on July 2 from a Gurgaon resident, alleging that three ladies' handbags she purchased from Kuala Lumpur Airport went missing from the luggage conveyor belt on June 15 around 11 pm at Terminal 3. An FIR was registered under Section 303 (theft) of the BNS. Additional CP (IGIA) Usha Rangnani said, "During investigation, CCTV footage revealed that a foreign national woman was seen allegedly picking up the complainant's handbags from the luggage conveyor belt. According to police, on June 15, while waiting for her luggage at the airport, the businesswoman allegedly spotted the unattended handbags, picked them up, and exited the terminal. She then checked into a hotel in central Delhi's Paharganj for her business stay. By the time police tracked her down after the complaint, she had already left for Uzbekistan. Based on information provided by her, all three stolen bags were recovered from a hotel room in Paharganj where one of her relatives was staying.
