Samsung may have accidentally revealed its tri-fold's name, and it's not very exciting

TL;DR Samsung has filed a trademark for its upcoming triple-screen foldable.
The filing reveals the name 'Galaxy Z TriFold,' but we're skeptical of this being final.
The foldable is rumored to launch in October, but with availability limited to China and South Korea.
Samsung's progress on a new style of foldable with three inner screen faces instead of two is no longer a secret. It has repeatedly teased the new shape and even showcased a working prototype at Mobile World Congress 2025 of what it then called a 'Flex G' panel. The 'G' is inspired by the fact that the two sides fold inward, which also led to initial rumors that the phone would be named a Galaxy G Fold — and probably because a Galaxy C (despite being more fitting to the shape) would be a tongue twister. However, a recent report suggests that Samsung may have settled on a name that neither includes 'G' nor 'C'.

For its triple-screen foldable, Samsung may have chosen the name 'Galaxy Z TriFold' — or so it appears, based on a recent trademark filing spotted by GalaxyClub. Besides suggesting the device's potential name, the trademark also indicates it will be clubbed under the existing Galaxy Z lineup instead of being introduced as a separate series.
Despite the trademark registration, we cannot ascertain that this is the name Samsung will finally choose when it launches the phone later this year. It could be using this name as a placeholder or to misguide speculations.
Although the filing does not guarantee a launch timeline, previous rumors suggest the tri-fold will enter production in September and could launch in October 2025. The foldable's inner display is expected to unfold into a 10-inch layout, while the phone is likely to house a Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. Images and animations buried in One UI 8's beta firmware confirm the phone comes with three rear cameras, which are expected to be the same as the Galaxy Z Fold 7.
Besides its name, there's another unsavory aspect to this phone. The exuberant hardware is likely to come with an eye-watering price tag of nearly $3,000. Already cautious of its steep price, Samsung might limit the initial release to China and South Korea, rather than launching it globally, to gauge demand.

Forgot to pay that bill? Samsung Now Brief now comes to your rescue.

Joe Maring / Android Authority TL;DR Samsung now offers custom reminder cards in Now Brief via the Routines Plus app. This allows you to create reminders in Now Brief that appear at your desired time, complete with a link to open a specific app. The feature will eventually come to Galaxy phones without Now Brief support. Samsung's Now Brief feature debuted on the Galaxy S25 series, giving you a summary of relevant info several times a day. We had mixed impressions after first using it, but Samsung continues to improve the feature. The Galaxy maker isn't stopping here, as it's just introduced another handy feature to Now Brief. Samsung announced on its Korean-language community forum (via SammyGuru) that the Routines Plus Good Lock module has received a One UI 8 update. This update lets you create a routine that reminds you via Now Brief. Check out the machine-translated screenshots below. The screenshots reveal that you can choose a reminder time and description, whether it repeats (and how often it repeats), link the Now Brief card to a specific app, and specify an image. The ability to link the info card to an app should be pretty useful, as it theoretically means you can quickly accomplish the task without looking for the app first. In any event, this could be handy for small tasks you sometimes forget to do, such as buying something, calling someone, making a payment, and more. Samsung also says devices without Now Brief will benefit from this feature as the reminder will pop up via your notifications instead. So you don't need a recent flagship phone to take advantage of this functionality. For what it's worth, we aren't seeing this feature on our Galaxy Z Fold 7 running One UI 8. It's not the first time we've heard about this feature, either. We first heard about custom Now Brief cards in June, and that leaked feature seems identical to this newly announced capability. We're just glad Samsung is updating Now Brief with more features. This latest feature joins new info cards like YouTube recommendations, parking spot reminders, battery alerts for wearables, and smart home updates. Samsung has also brought audio playback functionality, so you can have your Now Brief cards read to you. Got a tip? Talk to us! Email our staff at Email our staff at news@ . Why This Analyst Says Amazon Stock Is Still His ‘Top Pick'

Large-cap tech stocks have rebounded strongly from their April lows as easing tariff concerns and a more stable macroeconomic outlook reignite investor confidence. Among these giants, e-commerce and cloud titan Amazon (AMZN) continues to attract bullish sentiment, with analysts reaffirming its long-term growth potential. Morgan Stanley's senior analyst Brian Nowak recently reiterated Amazon as his 'top pick,' raising the stock's price target to $300 from $250, a 20% upward revision. In an accompanying research note, the firm cited a 'more manageable tariff and geopolitical backdrop' alongside improving macro conditions as key reasons for its renewed optimism on AMZN stock. Keep up by reading our FREE midday Barchart Brief newsletter for exclusive charts, analysis, and headlines. In short, the easing of trade tensions and brighter global growth prospects have allowed Morgan Stanley to discard previous worst-case scenarios, such as steep China tariffs, and upgrade its earnings outlook. Crucially, the firm also pointed to accelerating momentum in Amazon Web Services (AWS), fueled by rising demand for artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud-based solutions. With that in mind, let's take a closer look at the specific areas Morgan Stanley believes will drive Amazon's next phase of growth. About Amazon Stock Headquartered in Seattle, Amazon is an e-commerce behemoth that's engaged in online retail, cloud computing, digital streaming, and AI businesses. The company is also a major force in cloud services through its AWS division, which offers on-demand solutions such as computing power, storage, databases, and machine learning tools. Although Amazon stock has rebounded from its April lows, its performance remains relatively slow, gaining just 4.5% year to date, compared with the S&P 500 Index's ($SPX) 7.3% advance over the same time frame. In terms of valuation, AMZN appears relatively expensive. Its price-to-sales ratio of 3.64 is well above the sector median of 0.98, indicating that investors are paying a premium. However, its price/earnings-to-growth (PEG) ratio of 0.51 points to potential undervaluation relative to its expected bottom-line growth, especially when compared to the sector average PEG of 0.78. Easing Tariffs and Improving Macro Outlook Morgan Stanley restored its 2026 EPS forecast for Amazon to $8, citing a 'significantly improved' macroeconomic outlook since mid‑April. The firm also raised its 2027 forecast, effectively reversing earlier cuts that had factored in potential punitive tariffs on Chinese imports. Morgan Stanley's team now judges the likelihood of extreme tariff measures disrupting Amazon's growth as 'much lower,' and views easing trade tensions as a catalyst for smoother execution across the retailer's core businesses. Tariff concerns weighed heavily on online retail earlier this year, but the latest note describes current pressures as 'manageable.' Unlike some peers, says the firm, Amazon can mitigate cost headwinds by diversifying its supply chain and fine‑tuning pricing strategies. Morgan Stanley specifically points to the improving tariff environment as a key driver behind its more optimistic outlook. AWS and AI Growth Catalysts A second pillar of Morgan Stanley's bullish view is Amazon's cloud and AI businesses. The firm wrote of an 'increased conviction in AWS acceleration' driven by the generative AI wave. Indeed, AWS has been Amazon's biggest profit engine, and it has only become more strategically vital as companies race to adopt AI tools. Notably, Amazon in Q1 announced new generative AI offerings on its Bedrock platform; for example, hosting Anthropic's Claude 3.7 Sonnet and Meta's (META) Llama 4 models for customers. Morgan Stanley highlighted partnerships like the one with AI startup Anthropic as concrete evidence of AWS's upside. It also cited the competitive cloud landscape, which includes Microsoft (MSFT) Azure's own AI push, as a validation of Amazon's strategy. Amazon's recent investment in AI infrastructure even includes custom hardware, as it revealed a specialized In-Row Heat Exchanger cooling system for Nvidia's (NVDA) latest AI chips, underscoring the mega-cap company's commitment to supporting compute-intensive workloads. Amazon Smashes Q1 Earnings Amazon's Q1 2025 results showed the business performing solidly, as Amazon reported net sales of $155.7 billion, which is up 9% from a year ago. All of Amazon's segments grew: North America retail revenue rose 8% to $92.9 billion; international revenue rose about 5% (8% excluding forex) to $33.5 billion; and AWS sales jumped 17% to $29.3 billion. The surge in AWS revenue was a key profit driver: AWS operating income in Q1 reached $11.5 billion, up from $9.4 billion a year ago. On the profitability front, net income soared to $17.1 billion, or $1.59 per share, from $10.4 billion ($0.98) in Q1 2024. That represents a huge step up in profit, even as the company continued to invest aggressively in new technology and logistics. However, AMZN slipped after earnings in response to a soft forecast. Looking ahead, investors will closely watch Amazon's Q2 results (due out after the close on July 31) for signs of resilience. The consensus projection is roughly $159–164 billion in sales with earnings around $1.30–$1.50 per share, but Morgan Stanley's call for easier tariffs and strong AWS momentum could help Amazon beat those estimates. What Does Wall Street Think About AMZN Stock? Backing Morgan Stanley's view, Wall Street analysts also remain bullish on Amazon's growth prospects. Among 54 analysts covering the stock, the consensus rating is 'Strong Buy,' with 47 assigning a 'Strong Buy,' six recommending a 'Moderate Buy,' and only one maintaining a 'Hold' rating. This bullish group has set an average price target of $249.85 for Amazon, implying a potential upside of about 9% from Monday's closing price. Market Woes Set Bearish Mood Ahead of Tesla's (TSLA) Q2 Earnings Call

Tesla's (TSLA) stock is once again on the rise ahead of its Q2 earnings report, scheduled for release after tomorrow's market close. With Q2 vehicle deliveries already disclosed earlier this month at 384,000 units, investor attention now shifts to profitability, strategic execution, and Tesla's ability to maintain its competitive edge. What's clear is that the days of unchecked, hyper-growth driven by EV manufacturing alone are behind us. Going forward, Tesla's success hinges on its ability to monetize emerging ventures like Robotaxi and Full Self-Driving (FSD). That said, the road ahead is filled with uncertainty—and at Tesla's current premium valuation, the margin for error is razor-thin. As a result, I remain Bearish on TSLA stock. Automotive Woes and Margin Compression First and foremost, market participants are seeking an update to the lifeblood of Tesla's business: its automotive segment. Due to increasing competition and a decline in demand for EVs, consensus estimates point to another challenging quarter for Tesla with double-digit decreases in year-over-year revenue. Tesla's market share is eroding globally. In fact, as of 2024, China-based BYD (BYDDF) is now the world's leading EV manufacturer by volume. This is especially a problem in China, which represents 21% of Tesla's revenue. Once a key growth engine for Tesla, vehicle sales in China are falling over 10% year-over-year. This is particularly worrisome when considering that the overall Chinese EV market is surging, which suggests that Tesla is losing market share. Secondly, Tesla faces a multi-front threat to its profitability. In the second quarter of last year, Tesla's automotive gross margin (ex-credits) was 18.3% and decreased to 16.3% in Q1 this year. Analysts anticipate further margin compression this quarter—and for good reason. Demand for Tesla's Model 3 and Model Y has weakened amid growing competition and more diverse offerings from rivals, as shown by production consistently outpacing deliveries. Like the broader EV industry, Tesla is also grappling with macroeconomic pressures. Elevated interest rates have made car payments less affordable, prompting buyers to opt for lower-priced, lower-margin models like the Model 3. In response to softening demand and rising competition, Tesla has introduced temporary price cuts, which are likely to weigh further on average selling prices and profit margins. TSLA Looks to Save the Day by Pivoting to Robotics & AI Tesla's lofty valuation—reflected in a P/E ratio of 181, more than 800% above the sector median—is largely built on investor confidence in its bold pivot toward artificial intelligence and robotics. The centerpiece of this AI narrative is Tesla's push for full autonomy, recently marked by the launch of a small fleet of around 20 robotaxis in Austin, Texas. While this marks a notable step, it's limited to a tightly geofenced area, making a broader rollout across major U.S. cities unlikely in the near term. At the helm, Elon Musk has gone on record to claim that 'millions of Teslas will be operating fully autonomously in the second half of next year [2026].' However, his track record includes many ambitious promises that were either delayed or never realized. Still, Tesla may unveil early proof-of-concept data from Austin in its earnings report, and potentially, reveal a firm timeline for launching its vast network of autonomous vehicles (AVs). Investors are also eyeing potential updates on Optimus, Tesla's humanoid robot initiative. Musk previously stated a goal of producing ~5,000-12,000 units this year and recently teased 'the most epic demo ever,' fueling speculation that the production-ready Optimus V3 may soon be revealed. However, skepticism remains high, given Musk's history of overpromising and the long road ahead for humanoid robotics. Realistically, Optimus remains a long-duration, high-risk R&D effort, with little chance of meaningful revenue contribution for years to come. Is TSLA Stock a Buy, Sell, or Hold? On Wall Street, TSLA carries a consensus Hold rating based on 13 Buy, 13 Hold, and eight Sell ratings in the past three months. TSLA's average stock price target of $299.52 implies a downside potential of almost 9% over the next 12 months. Earlier this week, Wall Street analyst Alexander Potter reiterated a Buy rating on TSLA with a price target of $400. Sandler believes concerns surrounding the impact of regulatory changes (EV tax credit) are overblown, stating, 'We think that while it's true that the U.S. government is committed to rescinding financial support for the EV and battery industries, Tesla will still book around $3 billion in credits this year, followed by $2.3 billion in 2026.' Tesla's Sluggish EV Growth and Unproven AI Ambitions Tesla's second-quarter earnings are likely to confirm what the market already suspects: its core EV business is losing momentum. With the company's lofty valuation now increasingly tied to its ambitions in AI and robotics, the focus is shifting from vision to execution. The market will soon demand real, near-term progress—not just bold promises. At the same time, Tesla must also defend its legacy automotive business, a tall order for any single company. Given its elevated valuation and the lack of immediate breakthroughs in its emerging tech initiatives, I'm staying Bearish for now. That said, for investors with a higher risk tolerance and a taste for short-term speculation, there's a case to be made. If Tesla falls short of expectations, it could trigger a sell-off, presenting both a selling opportunity in the near term and a potential buy-the-dip entry point for those who believe in Tesla's long-term dominance across EVs and robotics.
