Integrity must be embedded in all levels of Sabah's administration
He said it is his aspiration to see the state governed with integrity, accountability and wisdom, supported by sustainable development plans that prioritise the people's well-being.
"I believe with strong leadership and the support of the people, Sabah will continue to grow and prosper," he said in a special address in conjunction with his 74th official birthday here today.
He delivered the address at the 2025 Sabah Investiture Ceremony at Istana Seri Kinabalu, where 60 individuals received state awards, medals and honours.
Also present were Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor and other state leaders.
Tun Musa emphasised the need to strengthen development efforts to ensure sustainable and inclusive progress, through close cooperation between the government and the people.
He also stressed the importance of addressing global challenges through progressive approaches, including the promotion of technological innovation, development of quality human capital, and the building of a resilient economy
"Building a dynamic and competitive society is crucial to ensuring the long-term sustainability of the state's development," he said.
He further called for continued unity among the people, describing it as the foundation for peace and progress in Sabah.
Tun Musa also commended Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor and his Cabinet for their commitment to advancing the state in line with a more inclusive and sustainable development agenda.
Sabah Rural Development Minister Datuk Jahid Jahim led today's honours list after being conferred the Seri Panglima Darjah Kinabalu (SPDK), which carries the title "Datuk Seri Panglima".
Businessmen Datuk Ahmad Fuad Md Ali and Datuk Albert Lim Yu Ming were also awarded the SPDK.
A total of 37 people received the Panglima Gemilang Darjah Kinabalu (PGDK), which confers the title "Datuk".
Among the recipients were Deputy Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Dr Fuziah Salleh and Kapayan assemblyman Jannie Lasimbang.
Other PGDK recipients included Senator Anna Bell@Suzieana Perian, Sabah Parks director Dr Maklarin Lakim, Amanah Sabah chairman Lahirul Latigu, Kota Kinabalu High Court Judge Alexander Siew How Wai, Sabah Special Branch chief SAC Abdul Rahman Ishak, State Health director Dr Maria Suleiman, and veteran journalist Emin Madi of Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) Sabah Bureau.
The first session of the investiture ceremony also saw five individuals receiving the Ahli Setia Darjah Kinabalu (ASDK), four each receiving the Ahli Darjah Kinabalu (ADK) and Bintang Setia Kinabalu (BSK), and six receiving the Justice of the Peace (JP) title.
Earlier, Musa, accompanied by his wife Toh Puan Faridah Tussin, attended the parade held in conjunction with the official birthday celebration of the Yang Dipertua Negeri of Sabah at Padang Merdeka.

Esscom brings benefits to ESSZone while maintaining security
TAWAU: The Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom) which was established 14 years ago has maintained its excellent performance not only in creating peace but also in bringing benefits to the community in the Eastern Sabah Security Zone (ESSZone). Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said Esscom remained committed to its core task of creating peace and through that, many government plans could be implemented, including the Madani Adopted Village Programme in Kampung Inderasabah here. "Esscom, with an allocation of RM1 million, has selected Kampung Inderasabah to carry out several physical and non-physical infra projects," he told reporters after officiating the Esscom Madani Adopted Village in Kampung Inderasabah on Friday. He said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had previously announced an allocation of RM200 million for the implementation of the programme this year, which involved 200 villages nationwide, including 12 or 13 villages under the Home Ministry. Esscom chief executive officer Datuk Dr Jamaluddin Mohd Ali said the selection of Kampung Inderasabah was based on several important justifications, including the unique security challenges faced. He said the justification was also seen from the aspect of potential for eco-tourism and fisheries development as well as the geographical location of the village which is close to the border of the waters of neighbouring Indonesia. "The Finance Ministry agreed with Esscom's proposal and approved RM1 million on March 1, projects received approval from the ministry, namely the construction of the village entrance gate, upgrading the pavilion, the open hall of SK Inderasabah, the futsal court and the Al-Furqon Mosque. "Other projects include the upgrading and installation of solar street lights in the village, repairing the village footbridge, the jetty at the base, the Kemas Daycare Center area, and the church in addition to implementing programmes with the local community," he said. Jamaluddin said Esscom, in collaboration with Tawau Municipal Council and GiatMara Tawau as the implementing agency, would ensure that the projects involved ran smoothly and were given priority so that they could be completed this year. "Esscom also hopes that through this initiative, it can further strengthen the relationship between Esscom and the community in ESSZone, thus ensuring Eastern Sabah area continues to be peaceful, prosperous and resilient," he added. Apas assemblyman Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan said for the past 14 years, Kampung Inderasabah community has been a strategic partner for Esscom, whether in terms of prevention of cross-border crimes, including involvement in community programmes. STAR not planning to quit GRS, says Kitingan

(Bernama pic) PETALING JAYA : Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR) is not planning to leave the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah coalition, says its president, Jeffrey Kitingan. Kitingan said the viral TikTok video clip of him suggesting otherwise had been misinterpreted and taken out of context, The Daily Express reported. 'The clip was part of a conversation during our party's anniversary event, where I was asked what STAR would do if GRS were forced to work with Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan. 'In that context, I said, 'Yes, we will leave GRS, but remain in government'. But the video only captured that line without the background,' he said. Kitingan, who is also a Sabah deputy chief minister, reaffirmed STAR's commitment to GRS, of which it is a founding member. Yesterday, GRS information chief Joniston Bangkuai also rubbished rumours that STAR is planning to quit the ruling state coalition. He said the leaders of all eight GRS components, including Kitingan, had met coalition chairman Hajiji Noor on Monday, where they affirmed their commitment to GRS. 'They were unanimous in that they must not only remain together but further strengthen GRS,' he said. GRS's eight component parties include Hajiji's Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah, Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) and STAR. Gagasan Rakyat has 26 seats in the Sabah legislative assembly, while PBS and STAR have seven and six seats, respectively. Separately, STAR communications director Jalumin Bayogoh said the party is lodging a police report over a news portal's article allegedly linking the party to the Sabah mineral licence case involving businessman Albert Tei. 'That report is false and defamatory. We will not tolerate such slander,' he said.

38 media practitioners take part in Immigration Department shooting event
PUTRAJAYA: Journalists traded notepads for pistols today as 38 local media practitioners took aim at targets during a special shooting event hosted by the Immigration Department. They were specially invited to take part in the 2025 Immigration Department Director-General's Shooting Programme with Media Partners, held at the Shapadu Target Shooting Club here. Immigration Department director-general Datuk Zakaria Shaaban said the programme aimed to strengthen ties and promote better understanding between the department and the media. "This simple, casual programme serves as a platform for fostering strategic cooperation between the Immigration Department and the media. "Through this programme, our relationship will grow closer, and in terms of our respective duties and responsibilities, it will help make things easier and allow us to support each other," he said at the event. Participants were given the opportunity to use a CZ P-07 pistol in two shooting events: 'centre fire' and steel plate shooting. Also present were Media Prima Bhd group chairman Datuk Seri Dr Syed Hussian Aljunid, Media Prima group managing director Rafiq Razali, Media Prima Omnia chief operating officer Datuk Mohd Efendi Omar, and Media Prima Television Networks group editor for News and Current Affairs (NCA) Azhari Muhidin. Rafiq, who took part in the programme, said it was his first experience handling a firearm and expressed appreciation for the department's warm reception. "This is my first time shooting. And Alhamdulillah, it went well. "I'd like to thank the Immigration Department director and all our friends for welcoming us today," he said.
