Teenage boys accused of Ballymena sex assault appear before court again
The boys have been charged in connection with an alleged serious sexual assault on a teenage girl in the Clonavon Terrace area of the Co Antrim town last month.
The incident sparked days of race-related anti-immigration rioting in Ballymena, with linked sporadic outbreaks of violence in other parts of Northern Ireland.
The case was mentioned at a youth court sitting in Ballymena on Wednesday morning.
The two teenagers, who interacted with court through a Romanian interpreter, appeared together via video-link from a juvenile justice centre.
They were originally remanded into custody at their first court appearance two days after the alleged attack in June.
During Wednesday's brief hearing before district judge Nigel Broderick a prosecution lawyer said a file on the case was still being prepared.
The prosecutor said she would confirm to the court at the next sitting whether an achieving best evidence (ABE) interview had been completed with the alleged victim.
Both boys are accused of attempting to orally rape the girl.
At their first court appearance last month, a judge was told both accused denied the alleged offence during interview with police.
The teenagers spoke briefly during Wednesday's hearing to confirm they understood what was being discussed in court.
The boys were further remanded in custody as the case was listed again for a further review hearing on July 16.
Legal representatives for both accused did not raise any objections to their further remand into custody.

A 7-11 worker died after her female manager allegedly suffocated her by sitting on top of her in a violent attack. Jessica McLaughlin, 26, died Wednesday morning, days after her family say she was violently assaulted by her boss in a convenience store in Hollywood, California. The Los Angeles Police Department said they have identified the suspect, but have yet to make an arrest as of Thursday. The manager had already fled by the time they arrived at the scene. The LAPD did not immediately respond to a request for an update on the investigation. McLaughlin suffered brain damage due to a lack of oxygen during the ordea, and was hospitalized for several days before she passed away Wednesday. Her heartbroken family wrote in their fundraiser that they stayed by her side throughout her time in hospital, 'praying for some kind of miracle.' 'But the damage from the lack of oxygen was too much. Her brain had stopped functioning,' they wrote. On Wednesday they made the heart wrenching decision to switch off her life support machine. 'After getting second opinions and doing everything we could, we have to make the impossible decision to let her go,' the family explained. Her father Clancey told KTLA that his daughter was bullied while working at the 7-11, specifically by the manager who is accused of causing her death. A 7-11 spokesperson told the outlet that the company is fully cooperating with the police investigation, and said the suspect was fired. 'Our hearts are with those impacted during this difficult time,' the company said in a statement. McLaughlin's family described her as someone who, 'had a way of making people feel safe, accepted, and loved'. 'You could come to her with anything and know you wouldn't be judged,' their statement read. 'She was the kind of person who rooted for the underdog, who lifted people up when they were down, and who truly saw the good in everyone. 'She had such a beautiful soul and deserved so much better than the way her life was taken from her.' In an update on Wednesday after McLaughlin's family decided to take her off life support, her brother Sean wrote that her family's 'hearts are shattered'.

Clogher: Elderly man dies following collision last month
A man has died following a single-vehicle collision in Clogher, County Tyrone last month. The crash, involving a Range Rover, happened on the Ballymagowan Road at around 16:20 BST on Saturday, 7 June. The driver of the vehicle, a man in his 80s, and a passenger, a man in his 90s, were both taken to hospital for treatment of their injuries. The driver was later discharged from hospital but the passenger has now passed away. Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the collision. They are looking to speak to anyone who has footage of the vehicle in the area prior to or at the time of the incident.

A man has died following a serious incident near a school in the Old Mountfield Road area of Killyclogher, County Education Authority (EA) named the man as Paul Corrigan who was described as a "highly valued and dedicated member" of its facilities management Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) said officers, paramedics from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS) and Northern Ireland Fire Rescue Service (NIFRS) personnel responded to the incident earlier on Thursday at St Mary's Primary police have said the Health and Safety Executive for Northern Ireland (HSENI) has been informed. 'Much loved within EA' A spokesperson for the EA said they were shocked and saddened to learn of Mr Corrigan's death."Paul was a highly valued and dedicated member of our facilities management service for over 30 years, working as a building supervisor and member of the grounds maintenance team," said the EA."He was a much loved and respected member of staff within the Education Authority, and we wish to extend our deepest sympathies to Paul's family, friends and colleagues at this time." In a statement, a spokesperson for the NIAS said they despatched one emergency ambulance crew and the charity air ambulance with HEMS on board to the scene. No one was taken from the scene, the spokesperson said one appliance from Omagh Fire Station attended the incident."Firefighters were called to attend an incident on Old Mountfield Road and firefighters supported by Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS) personnel in safely moving a casualty," said a spokesperson."Firefighters left the scene at 10:08 BST." 'Deeply saddened and shocked' Independent councillor Josephine Deehan said the community is "deeply saddened and shocked" by the incident on Thursday. She said Mr Corrigan works in several schools in the area. "He was incredibly popular, very hard working and highly respected," she said.
