Nvidia's CEO has sold a million shares. He has millions more to sell.

Nvidia stock continues to rise, setting a record of $165.69 in Friday morning trading. The founder and CEO of the first $4 billion publicly traded company, Jensen Huang, continues to sell shares of the chip firm through a trading plan.
Through a so-called Rule 10b5-1 plan he adopted on March 20, Huang has sold 975,000 shares of the chip firm for a total of $152 million, an overall average price of $155.91 each. Insiders use such plans to remove the appearance of bias from the knowledge of nonpublic information. HIs plan began selling June 18, and the average sales price of the transactions has risen to $161.91 this week from $144.04 in June.
Nvidia didn't immediately respond to a request to make Huang available for comment. In the past, the company had provided the statement, 'All of Jensen's sales noted are based on 10b5-1 plans, in which the price, amount and dates of the sales are established in advance."
Huang's plan provides for the sale of six million, so it still has a little more than five million shares left to sell through the end of 2025. On an average day, more than 200 million Nvidia shares trade, and Huang's plan has been selling batches of about 200,000 shares over three-day periods, so transactions are hardly causing a ripple. Trading plans automatically execute trades when preset conditions, such as volume, price, and timing, are met.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang sells $36.4 million in stock under mysterious ‘trading plan' he adopted in March

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has sold 225,000 shares of company stock worth around $36.4 million. According to the recent filings with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the transactions were executed between July 8 and July 10. The recent sale of stocks is part of a prearranged 10b5-1 trading plan which Huang adopted in March this year. The trading plan allows the Nvidia CEO to sell up to 6 million shares by the end of 2025. This latest transaction made by Huang follows the previous batch of stock which he sold in June this year. Last month Huang offloaded 1,00,000 shares in the span of two days. What is the mysterious 'trading plan' For those unaware, the 10b5-1 trading plan enable corporate insiders such as company executives to sell or but company stock at pre-decided value. This plan also offers defense against insider trading charges by showcasing that the traders were planned in advance and is not based on any new information. This pre-arranged structure ensures transparency and compliance with regulatory standards. The plan mentioned in Nvidia's quarterly report was adopted in March 2025. The plan is designed to allow structured selling without triggering any market volatility. Despite the recent stock sale, Hang still remains the largest individual shareholder of Nvidia. Huang still has more than 900 million shares. The timing of the stock sale made by Huang coincides with Nvidia's stock trading near its 52-week high and also the company surpassed the $4 trillion market capitalisation. This marks Huang's second batch of sales under the plan, following a $15 million transaction in June. Last year, he sold $700 million worth of shares under a similar arrangement. Nvidia sets new record, beats Microsoft and Apple Nvidia's has become the first public company to touch the 'magic' $4 trillion market value. The company's stock market valuation officially closed above $4 trillion for the first time on Thursday (July 10) after shares of the AI chipmaker ended the trading session up 0.75% at $164.10, pushing its market capitalisation to $4.004 trillion. This milestone extends Nvidia's significant lead over tech giants Apple and Microsoft, as it continues to benefit from an increasing demand for its AI technologies. According to a report by news agency Reuters, the company's market value briefly touched the $4 trillion mark on Wednesday (July 9) before closing just shy at approximately $3.97 trillion. To put its scale in perspective, Nvidia is now worth more than the combined value of all publicly listed companies in the United Kingdom, the report added. AI Masterclass for Students. Will meet PM soon to discuss defence corridor proposal: M B Patil

Bengaluru: Minister for Large and Medium Industries M.B. Patil revealed that the Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has responded positively to Karnataka's proposal to establish defence corridors in both northern and southern regions of the state. The proposal includes the Hubballi-Dharwad–Belagavi–Vijayapura belt in North Karnataka and the Bengaluru Rural–Kolar–Chikkaballapur region in South Karnataka. Speaking to media representatives at his residence, Minister Patil stated, 'We are planning to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi soon to present our proposal. Once approved, it will move forward for Cabinet-level consideration.' Patil emphasized the global demand for deep-tech industries such as defence, aerospace, semiconductors, and artificial intelligence due to evolving global geopolitics—citing the Israel-Iran conflict, the Russia-Ukraine war, and technological shifts. 'Over the next two decades, these sectors will see exponential growth. For instance, Nvidia has become the first company to achieve a $4 trillion market cap in this space. Karnataka must prepare itself to harness this opportunity,' he said. He also addressed the ongoing resistance from farmers regarding land acquisition for the proposed Hi-Tech Defence and Aerospace Park near Devanahalli. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is scheduled to hold a high-level meeting on July 15 to discuss the issue. 'The government must ensure fair compensation to the farmers if acquisition proceeds. We consider them our own,' Patil added. Regarding the establishment of a second international airport in Bengaluru, Patil said he plans to meet Union Civil Aviation Ministry officials in Delhi next week. 'We're studying models like Noida and Navi Mumbai airports and will make a well-informed decision for Bengaluru's aviation future,' he said. Clarifying political speculations, Patil asserted that there are no vacancies in either the Chief Minister's office or the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) presidency. 'There is no confusion within the party. In the Congress, the high command is supreme, and their word is final,' he emphasized.

US senators warn Nvidia CEO about upcoming China trip

A bipartisan pair of U.S. senators sent a letter to Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang on Friday about an upcoming trip to China, warning the CEO to refrain from meeting with companies that are suspected of undermining U.S. chip export controls . The letter from Republican Senator Jim Banks and Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren asked Huang to also abstain from meeting with representatives of companies that are working with the People's Republic of China's military or intelligence bodies. The senators also asked Huang to refrain from meeting with entities named on the U.S. restricted export list. "We are worried that your trip to the PRC could legitimize companies that cooperate closely with the Chinese military or involve discussing exploitable gaps in U.S. export controls," the senators wrote. Huang planned to visit China on Friday. An Nvidia spokesperson said, "American wins" when its technology sets "the global standard," and that China has one of the largest bodies of software developers in the world. AI software "should run best on the U.S. technology stack, encouraging nations worldwide to choose America," the spokesperson said. In May at the Computex trade show in Taipei, Huang praised President Donald Trump's decision to scrap some artificial intelligence chip export controls and described the prior diffusion rules as a failure. U.S. restrictions in April on AI chips Nvidia modified to comply with export controls to China would reduce Nvidia's revenue by $15 billion, the CEO said. The hardware necessary to power advanced AI is now subject to a bipartisan consensus related to the free export of such hardware, the senators wrote. Advanced AI hardware could "accelerate the PRC's effort to modernize its military," the letter reads. U.S. lawmakers have grown increasingly concerned about efforts to circumvent export controls to China and proposed a law that would force AI chip companies to verify the location of their products. Last month, Reuters reported that a senior U.S. official said the AI firm DeepSeek is aiding China's military and intelligence operations, and sought to use shell companies to circumvent U.S. AI chip export controls to China. Nvidia is planning to launch a cheaper version of its flagship Blackwell AI chips for China, Reuters reported in May. The senators said in the letter they had previously expressed concern that Nvidia's actions could support the AI and chip industries in China and cited Nvidia's new research facility in Shanghai as an example.
