Top-rated Atlanta bakery has just opened its first Florida location
The shop, which has five locations in Georgia and another in Texas, recently opened in the Orange Blossom shopping plaza on Cortez Road in Bradenton.
'We wanted to be kind of like a [feeling] at home,' store manager Tonny Yin said about choosing the area. 'So we wanted to allow people to come and relax.'
What's on the menu?
Sweet Hut features Asian pastries, buns, homemade cookies, cakes, sandwiches, burgers, coffee, teas and an assortment of fruit-flavored refresher drinks.
'There's a lot of savory stuff as well,' Yin said.
Sweet Hut was founded in 2012 by Howie Ewe and Amy Wong in Atlanta, according to Plano Magazine.
It's since become a hit, claiming the No. 1 spot on Trip Advisor's 'Best Bakeries in Atlanta' and frequently appearing on lists of the city's favorite places for a sweet treat.
In Bradenton, Yin said customer favorites so far include Sweet Hut's fruit cake and its strawberry cake — a brightly frosted vanilla sponge cake with layers of fresh-cut strawberries and cream.
'We don't make it too sweet, so people can still enjoy it and not get tired of eating it,' Yin said.
Yin said there is a lot of Malaysian and Chinese influence in the food.
'Mostly … the seasonings that we put into our meats,' he said. 'We have mini-baos as well, a fried dough used as a bun. And it's like we have the toppings, and the meat is seasoned. It's a bulgogi meat, so it's marinated in a sauce.'
In addition to the sweet and savory food menu, there's a drink menu that includes coffee, frappes, milk teas, fruit teas and more.
Yin said his favorite is the jasmine green milk tea.
After picking a drink, customers can also select from an array of toppings that include boba, chia seeds, various flavored jellies and puddings.

South Korea's top two cosmetics firms report differing results for Q2
Amorepacific posted an operating profit of $53 million during the second quarter of 2025, up more than 16 times from a year before. Photo courtesy of Amorepacific SEOUL, Aug. 5 (UPI) -- South Korea's two leading cosmetics companies reported differing results for the second quarter of this year. Runner-up player Amorepacific fared well, while business bellwether LG Household & Health Care struggled. Amorepacific said Friday that its second-quarter operating profit was $53 million, up more than 16-fold from a year ago. During the three-month period, its sales also jumped 11.1% year-over-year to reach $720 million. The Seoul-based company was supported by stellar performance in global markets. It posted double-digit sales growth in such major markets as the United States, China and the Middle East. An analyst said Amorepacific boosted its bottom line thanks to improvement in China, where the company suffered huge losses in the past. "It seems that Amorepacific's Chinese business recorded a small amount of operating profit in the second quarter, following the first quarter," Korea Investment & Securities analyst Kim Myung-joo said in a market report. "It has restructured its transaction model in China, which caused inefficiencies last year, and has also significantly reduced the number of offline stores. Thanks to these structural changes, it is not likely to log large losses in China anymore," Kim said. By contrast, LG Household's revenue stood at $1.15 billion during the April-June period, down 8.8% from a year before. Its operating income dropped 65.4% year-over-year to $39 million. The company's beauty business suffered an operating loss of $1.2 million, the first quarterly deficit in two decades. The disappointing results of LG Household, a unit of LG Group, is attributable to the stiff competition in its traditional channels, including duty-free shops and door-to-door sales. Despite the solid results, Amorepacific's share price dipped more than 5% over the past three trading days through Tuesday. LG Household also faced a similar downturn during this span.

TSMC arrests three after finding leaks of trade secrets
1 of 2 | On Tuesday, Taiwain Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. Ltd. took "strict" disciplinary action against 3 accused workers after a "routine monitoring" led to the discovery of a leak in valuable company trade secrets, TSMC officials confirmed. File Photo By David Chang/EPA Aug. 5 (UPI) -- Three Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. employees were taken into custody Tuesday after company officials detected "unauthorized activities" and a leak of its trade secrets related to "core technologies." TSMC, one of the world's largest computer chip manufacturers in Taiwan said it took "strict" disciplinary action against its accused workers and legal proceedings were launched after a "routine monitoring" led to the discovery, company officials told CNBC and The New York Times in a statement. "Such violations are dealt with strictly and pursued to the fullest extent of the law," it said. "We remain committed to safeguarding our core competitiveness and the shared interests of all our employees." TSMC previously indicated its internal system held over 200,000 "trade secrets" related to critical tech and data. According to sources familiar with the matter, multiple former TSMC employees are under suspicion of attempting to obtain the company's proprietary intellectual property related to 2-nanometer chip development and production. The company stated its "comprehensive and robust monitoring mechanisms" had identified the issue early which permitted TSMC officials to execute a swift internal investigation. TSMC's security breach arrived as the Chinese government met last week with Nvidia officials over potential security risks in an AI chip it developed for sale in China. TSMC is a leading global producer of advanced chips that has Apple and Nvidia among its client base. Company officials stated that TSMC "maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward any actions that compromise the protection of trade secrets or harm the company's interests." TSMC added it was unable to provide further information at the present time. In November, TSMC was part of a more than $6 billion deal with the U.S. Department of Commerce under then-President Joe Biden. The geopolitical stakes around Taiwan's semiconductor dominance have soared as China escalates military pressure, through increased fighter jet incursions, large-scale naval drills and explicit threats of reunification.

Lura Health Announces Strategic Investment and Business Partnership with SCO Group to Advance Intraoral Health Monitoring
NEWARK, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Lura Health (UCHU Biosensors, Inc., Head Office: Newark, New Jersey, USA; CEO: Daniel Weinstein), a U.S. health tech company, today announced that it has entered into an investment and business partnership with SCO Group (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Japan; Chairman and CEO: Yusuke Tamai), a leading company in Japan's dental technology sector. The goal of the partnership is to deploy Lura Health's intraoral sensor technology into clinical use in Asia and expand its applications globally. Lura Health is developing wearable microsensors that can be worn inside the mouth, either attached to dental appliances or bonded directly to a tooth, to collect real-time biometric data such as pH levels and metabolites in saliva. The company is pioneering a new healthcare model that aims to "visualize whole-body health from within the oral cavity." Background and Purpose of the Partnership Lura Health has created the world's first continuous intraoral salivary monitoring sensor and is targeting medical device approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) by early 2027. Following regulatory approval, Lura plans to expand its reach into Asian markets, starting with Japan. SCO Group is the operator of "Pay Light X," an integrated dental clinic management platform in Japan that supports appointment booking, diagnosis, payment, and aftercare. By integrating its sensor technology with SCO Group's clinical infrastructure, Lura Health aims to establish a new model for preventive health care in Japan. Key Points of the Partnership Continuous Monitoring with Intraoral Sensors Lura's sensors allow real-time monitoring of oral conditions such as pH and other salivary parameters. These measurements have the potential to supplement or replace conventional lab-based diagnostics in the future. Deployment through SCO Group's Platform By integrating with SCO Group's "Pay Light X," Lura aims to deliver its technology seamlessly to clinicians and patients. Joint pilot projects with Japanese universities and research institutions are expected to begin this fall to generate clinical validation and user feedback. Applications Beyond Dentistry Future use cases for the technology extend into sports performance monitoring, eldercare, and wellness, positioning Lura's sensors as a core tool in comprehensive personal health management. Statement from Daniel Weinstein, CEO of Lura Health "We at Lura Health are honored to announce our investment and business partnership with SCO Group, a leader in digital transformation within the Japanese dental industry. This collaboration represents a major step forward in our mission to enable preventive and user-friendly health monitoring through the diagnostic power of saliva. Our vision aligns deeply with SCO Group's commitment to improving the well-being of individuals through technology. Together, we will combine our sensor innovations with their extensive healthcare network to create tangible societal impact. We look forward to deploying our sensors in real-world clinical settings and co-developing patient-centered products based on live feedback from users in Japan." Partner Statement: Yusuke Tamai, Chairman and CEO of SCO Group "We are very pleased to partner with Lura Health, whose groundbreaking intraoral biosensing technology embodies the future of preventive healthcare. At SCO Group, we have long championed the integration of health technology into daily life, and this partnership allows us to take that mission to the next level. The oral cavity is a gateway to the body's health, yet remains one of the least-monitored areas. By utilizing saliva—a highly accessible source of biological data—we aim to convert invisible health risks into visible insights. Combined with our Pay Light X platform, we intend to build a comprehensive preventive care model that spans diagnosis, treatment, and everyday living." About Lura Health Lura Health is a U.S.-based medical device company developing intraoral microsensors that enable noninvasive, continuous monitoring of health biomarkers via saliva.
