‘28 Years Later' Review: Danny Boyle's Bloody Zombie Bore

'28 Years Later' imagines a Britain that has become so overrun by a zombie virus that few who haven't been infected are left. Not unreasonably, Europeans have strictly quarantined British islands to keep anyone from emigrating to spread the savagery-inducing disease to the continent. Welcome to the Hotel Britannia: You can freak out any time you like, but you can never leave.
In the follow-up to '28 Days Later' (2002) and '28 Weeks Later' (2007), at least one small island off the coast of the U.K. mainland is, for now, safe. The resourceful, macho Jamie (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and his slightly timid 12-year-old son, Spike (Alfie Williams), are among the uninfected villagers who live in a merry commune so tradition-minded that a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II is given a place of honor. These jubilantly rural folk have turned back to pre-modern ways: Their culture venerates bow-hunting, and kids have not heard of cellphones. Perhaps never before has the link between electronic pocket devices and zombification been quite so starkly defined.

Iconic '90s Rock Band Fooled Fans With 'First' Soundcheck in 15 Years — See Viral Clip

Iconic '90s Rock Band Fooled Fans With 'First' Soundcheck in 15 Years — See Viral Clip originally appeared on Parade. It's been 15 years since this beloved band last took the stage together — and now, they're closer than ever to reuniting. Though Oasis had split in 2009, they recently announced they've put their feud aside and will perform together on Friday, July 4. 'The guns have fallen silent. The stars have aligned. The great wait is over. Come see. It will not be televised,' the band wrote in their announcement. Kicking off their tour in the Welsh capital, the Gallagher brothers are slated to perform across the UK throughout the summer. As preparations for the show got underway, fans lingered near the venue hoping for a sneak peek of the band rehearsing their set. Videos from the soundcheck quickly went viral across social media, including clips of the band performing their hit track 'Cigarettes and Alcohol.' One fan posted on X, 'Epic! Cannot wait for Friday!!' while another added, 'I know this is just a soundcheck, but the bumps are goosing.' Another user, disappointed at missing out on tickets, wrote, 'I've been chilled about not getting tickets but that is cool as f--k. Shivers.' Oasis soundcheck in Cardiff just now@liamgallagher sounding biblical — Conor Gogarty (@ConorGogarty) June 30, 2025 However, some fans were skeptical the band was actually performing live since Noel's voice was missing from the recordings. 'I believe this audio is from the Definitely Maybe tour rehearsals last year,' one person suggested, while another added, 'This is a pre recording to test sound levels i would assume. Not sure the band are actually there.' Amid the speculation, Liam Gallagher took to X on Monday, June 30 to set the record straight — and it was a bit of a bummer. When asked if he and Noel Gallagher were performing live, Liam replied, 'I've been in my pool all day doing under water farts, so it's defo a recording from rehearsals unless there's 2 of me, which I'm absolutely 1 million per cent here for.' Regardless, excitement remains high for the reunion. Formed in 1991, Oasis had quite a contentious history together. Despite this, the band toured and released new music until their breaking point on August 28, 2009. According to Noel, the brothers had a fistfight before their world tour and started traveling separately to shows. '[Liam] goes out the dressing room, for whatever reason, he went to his own dressing room, and he came back with a guitar, and he started wielding it like an axe, and I'm not f— kidding,' Noel said in 2015 to Far Out Magazine. 'I'm making light of it because it's kind of what I do, but it was a real unnecessary violent act. He nearly took my face off with it.' Following the fight, Noel decided it was time to walk away from the band and his brother. It seems time has healed old wounds, as the brothers have put the past behind them — giving fans 24 chances to see Oasis live again, hopefully without any flying guitars. Dolly Parton Charts Her First Hard Rock Hit Alongside A Legendary Band

Dolly Parton and Mötley Crüe's duet of 'Home Sweet Home' debuts at No. 4 on Billboard's Hard Rock ... More Digital Song Sales chart, marking her first top 10 in the genre. LONDON, ENGLAND - JUNE 29: Dolly Parton attends the Dolly Parton "Rockstar" Album Press Conference at the Four Seasons Hotel on June 29, 2023 in London, England. (Photo by) Dolly Parton is one of the most successful country musicians of all time, as well as one of the most respected songwriters in the music industry. Throughout her decades in the spotlight, Parton has produced hundreds of hits on Billboard's country charts, and she has also worked with countless musical acts across a variety of genres. For years now, Parton has been branching out and scoring wins on Billboard lists dedicated to styles she had previously not trafficked in. As more time passes, she racks up victories on genre-based tallies that stray outside of her normal output. Thanks to a surprise collaboration with one of the most famous rock bands in history, Parton earns a debut smash on one list and reaches a new career-high point on another. Dolly Parton Teams Up With Mötley Crüe Parton teamed up with Mötley Crüe for a new duet version of "Home Sweet Home," which was released recently. The track launches at No. 21 on the Hot Hard Rock Songs chart, earning Parton her first win on that ranking, which measures the most consumed tracks classified by Billboard as hard rock specifically. Dolly Parton's First Hard Rock Top 10 The same collaboration launches even higher on the Hard Rock Digital Song Sales tally, where it opens at No. 4. Mötley Crüe and Parton claim the second-loftiest arrival this time around, coming in behind the latest single by English rock outfit Muse, 'Unravelling,' which starts in third place. Parton has previously appeared on the Hard Rock Digital Song Sales tally alongside Judas Priest frontman Rob Halford, who joined her on the tune "Bygones." That cut was featured on Parton's first rock album, Rockstar, and it hit No. 19 on the purchase-only list in July 2023. The country superstar earns her first top 10 and loftiest placement ever on the Hard Rock Digital Song Sales ranking with this latest single. "Home Sweet Home" Has a Long History Mötley Crüe has released "Home Sweet Home" several times throughout the years. The track was originally chosen as a single from the band's 1985 album Theatre of Pain. That cut reached No. 89 on the Hot 100 and was a minor top 40 win on some rock radio stations. The group turned it into an even bigger success several years later when the musicians renamed it "Home Sweet Home '91." Parton isn't even the first country artist to record the track, nor the first to be credited alongside Mötley Crüe on the tune. Carrie Underwood turned it into a smash for herself on the Hot 100 when her version reached No. 21 more than a decade ago. Mötley Crüe once recruited Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington for another take, which dropped in 2005. A New Mötley Crüe Compilation Is on the Way Mötley Crüe is planning on releasing a compilation titled From the Beginning in September. That album will feature some of the band's earliest wins as well as recent ones like "The Dirt (Est. 1981)" and "Dogs of War," as well as this reimagining of "Home Sweet Home."

Portrait of last Battle of Britain pilot handed over at National Museum

A portrait of the last Battle of Britain pilot, John 'Paddy' Hemingway, will be handed over at the National Museum of Ireland on Thursday. Group Captain Hemingway, originally from Dublin, was the final surviving member of 'The Few', who took to the skies in 1940 to defend the UK against Luftwaffe attacks in what became a pivotal moment of the Second World War. He died in March this year, at the age of 105. His portrait will find a permanent home at the Irish National Gallery. The portrait, unveiled by Mr Hemingway at the British Embassy in Dublin last year marking his 105th birthday, was painted by Welsh artist Dan Llywelyn Hall, 44. He was the last living pilot from the Battle of Britain and would have been 106 on July 17. Mr Llywelyn Hall is known for numerous portraits, such as the Queen, Shane MacGowan, Amy Winehouse and other public figures. Mr Llywelyn Hall said: 'I am pleased for the portrait of the Last of the Few, John Hemingway, to be a legacy for the public in John's native Ireland. 'It's especially meaningful this portrait will live in Dublin as it was John's home and held in great affection. 'This portrait serves as both a record of remarkable life and a testament to the rich personality beyond the uniform.' Brenda Malone, curator of Irish Military History, said: 'We are delighted to accept this generous gift from Dan, and are particularly happy to record John Hemingway's story, through his portrait, with us. 'The National Museum collects and preserves the history of Irishmen and women's experience of military service around the world, especially in times of conflict. 'John's story stands as a representation for the many Irish people who served in the Royal Air Force during WWII. 'His portrait and history will form a valuable part of our collections which we hold in trust for the Irish people.'
