Speaking on the occasion, he announced that a dedicated website with full details of the initiative will soon be launched: www.zeropovertyp4.ap.gov.in. He said that efforts are underway to engage NRIs and Tenali natives living in other regions, turning them into active partners in this mission.
He said through their support, employment opportunities will be created for more women and youth. As part of India's Vision-2027, the coalition government aims to uplift 50-lakh families out of poverty by 2029 and added that this flagship initiative is a crucial step towards that goal. He emphasised that the P4 programme focuses on identifying and supporting economically backward communities and ensuring welfare and financial empowerment.
He said the primary objective of P4 is to transform the poor families into 'Golden Families'.
He said in the Tenali Assembly constituency alone, 14,280 families have already been identified as 'Golden Families.' Of these, 376 volunteers have come forward to support 3,289 individuals, providing mentorship and direct assistance. After data verification, these beneficiaries will receive help with livelihood opportunities, education, agriculture, bank loans, medical aid for chronic illness among others.
He said a formal orientation session with these volunteer mentors will soon be conducted in Tenali. Tenali sub-collector Sanjana Simha, Tenali tahsildar Gopala Krishna, Kollipara tahsildar G Siddarth were among those who participated.

Recognising their success stories and philanthropic spirit, the NTR district administration is tapping into this global network to assist 'Bangaru Kutumbams' (Golden Families) — economically weaker households identified for upliftment under the P4 policy. Taking this initiative forward, District Collector Dr G Lakshmisha recently held a special meeting with a group of NRVs and members of the PB Siddhartha College of Arts and Sciences Alumni Association at the Collectorate. "NRVs are ideal partners in this mission. They've seen success across the world and are now ready to give back to their roots. The P4 policy is a path to eliminate poverty by 2029 by connecting the top 10% of society to uplift the bottom 20%," the collector said. He added that 86,398 golden families have already been identified in the district, of which 30,617 families have been adopted by 3,897 volunteer guides. The administration now hopes that more NRVs will join hands in guiding these families in skill development, employment, self-employment, and access to health services. NRVs including P Suresh, Y Manidhar and Harshasai pledged their involvement in the initiative. P B Siddhartha alumni members Swaroop, A Prashant Chowdhury, G S C Bose, and Sumabindu Atluri also assured their support. Collector Lakshmisha emphasised that this global-local partnership will not only combat poverty but also enhance Vijayawada's identity as a city of entrepreneurship, culture, and compassion.

Mamata to meet Durga Puja organisers on July 31, launch ‘bhasha andolan' march tomorrow
Ahead of Durga Puja, puja committees in West Bengal are expecting Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to increase the financial grant for them, with a crucial meeting of festival organisers with the chief minister scheduled for July 31 at Kolkata's Netaji Indoor Stadium to finalise the plans. The meeting holds immense significance for thousands of big and small Durga Puja committees in Kolkata and other districts. Last year, the Government raised its grant from Rs 75,000 to Rs 85,000 per puja committee. Many feel the chief minister will increase the grant further to Rs 1 lakh in an announcement at the July 31 meeting. The chief minister will preside over the meeting, which is expected to see representatives from approximately 5,000 puja committees, high-ranking police officers, Kolkata's mayor, and officials from the fire department, the Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation, and other agencies. Puja committee officials are eagerly awaiting the day, as the chief minister traditionally announces not only financial aid but also various exemptions for the festival. Checks of the government grant are typically disbursed to committees via local police stations. Political analysts are keenly observing this year's meeting, given its timing ahead of the Assembly elections next year. The Trinamool Congress has seen positive electoral outcomes linked to the puja grants. With the Lok Sabha elections having concluded last year, during which the grant was increased, the potential increase in the grant to 1 lakh just before the Assembly elections is seen by political circles as a strategic move that could positively influence the ballot. Furthermore, the chief minister is said to be leveraging this platform to promote communal harmony. Beyond the financial aspects, the meeting will also provide essential guidelines for various festival preparations, including maintaining cleanliness and ensuring drinking water supply during the puja days. While some puja committees had previously returned the grant in protest over issues like the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, the vast majority have consistently accepted the government's financial assistance. CM Mamata embarks on district tours, starting with Birbhum Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee started a district tour on Sunday, starting with Birbhum. Trinamool Congress sources said the chief minister would arrive in Birbhum on Sunday afternoon. Her itinerary includes an overnight stay at Rangabitan. On July 28, she will hold an administrative meeting at Gitanjali Theatre to review the district's development projects. She is also scheduled to lead a large march to protest against the targeting of Bengali speakers in other states–a 'bhasha andolan' (language agitation) march that she announced on July 21. Teacher unions oppose ‘forced registration' in P4 scheme, demand voluntary participation
Teacher unions in Andhra Pradesh have strongly objected to what they describe as coercive tactics being used to register them as mentors under the government's 'P4' (Public-Private-People Partnership) initiative. They have demanded that participation in the poverty-eradication drive be made entirely voluntary. Member of the A.P. Legislative Council from the Progressive Democratic Front (PDF), B. Gopi Murthy, on Sunday called for the immediate suspension of the 'forced' registration of teachers as P4 guides and mentors. 'Individuals may be encouraged to volunteer, but issuing circulars through Collectors and District Educational Officers (DEOs) making it mandatory is unacceptable,' he said. If such practices are not halted, his party, he warned, would join hands with teacher unions to launch a protest. The Andhra Pradesh Teachers Federation (APTF-1938) also reiterated that the registration process must remain voluntary. Its State president, G. Hrudayaraju, pointed out that many teachers were already assisting the underprivileged without being compelled. He added that in some districts, officials were insisting on the mandatory adoption of 'Bangaru families,' which undermines the spirit of voluntary service. Similarly, the Andhra Pradesh United Teachers Federation condemned what it termed as 'forced' registration of government school headmasters and teachers as mentors. Federation leaders N. Venkateswarlu and K. S. S. Prasad claimed that teachers were being pressured by DEOs through online links, with instructions to complete their registration within two days. As per these directives, each headmaster is expected to adopt five families, while every teacher must adopt two. The union leaders criticised the government's approach, stating that the lukewarm public response to the Chief Minister's appeal for P4 participation had led to undue pressure being placed on government employees. They also voiced their dissatisfaction with the government for not releasing any Dearness Allowance (DA) during the past year, delaying the appointment of a Commissioner for the 12th Pay Revision Commission, and failing to clear pending arrears amounting to ₹20,000 crore. They suggested that elected representatives and senior bureaucrats should first step forward to adopt families under the P4 scheme before expecting grassroots employees to participate.
