Tirupati: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) is contemplating a door-to-door inspection to identify non-Hindu staffers working in the temple trust. As per Andhra Pradesh Charitable and Hindu Religious Institutions and Endowments Act and the TTD Act, only Hindus can work in TTD, which draws its funds from donations extended by devotees visiting Tirumala and other Hindu temples under its fold in Tirupati and across the country.
While this Act has existed for decades, some non-Hindus managed to get into the organisation. Following a vigilance enquiry carried out by the TTD administration in 2018, it emerged that there were about 44 non-Hindus working in the temple trust. After the TTD management served notices to the 44 non-Hindus, they moved Andhra Pradesh high court challenging the move. The matter is still pending before the court.
The new TTD trust board, which was formed after the TDP-led NDA govt came to power in the state, passed a resolution last year to identify and remove non-Hindu employees from the temple trust.
A vigilance enquiry was carried out, which found that 29 non-Hindus were still on the payrolls of TTD, with 15 of them retired in the last six years. The employees were offered a voluntary retirement package by the TTD, but they did not accept the offer and intimated to the management that they will continue to fight the case legally.
Recently, an assistant executive officer rank official was suspended by the TTD after he was found to be following a different faith.
A few days later, another executive engineer rank officer was also suspended after he was found displaying his allegiance to another faith.
Bandi Sanjay, Union minister of state for home affairs, claimed that nearly 1,000 non-Hindus were working in the temple trust and asked the TTD management to immediately initiate action. Responding to Bandi's remarks, state endowments minister Anam Ramnarayana Reddy said a detailed enquiry is underway to identify all non-Hindus working in the temple trust.
TTD trust board member G Bhanu Prakash Reddy said the temple management is contemplating a door-to-door inspection as part of the vigilance enquiry. "It has come to our notice that many employees having Hindu names have converted to other faith, which is a violation of TTD Act and also the Endowments Act. Without physically visiting their houses, the vigilance enquiry will remain incomplete. It is unfortunate that such people continue to draw their salaries and other benefits from the TTD while practising other faiths," he said.
A detailed discussion on the proposed door-to-door survey will be held during the TTD trust board meeting scheduled for July 22.

Love Jihad, a conspiracy targeting Hindu girls, women must impart moral values to daughters: Vijayvargiya

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh minister for urban administration Kailash Vijayvargiya on Sunday stated that Love Jihad is a conspiracy targeting Hindu girls, making them victims of Muslim men. Speaking at a public function organised to promote wrestling in the Indore-1 assembly constituency area, the former BJP national general secretary urged mothers to instill 'acche sanskar' (moral values) in their daughters. He emphasised that young Hindu girls should verify the family backgrounds of youths before becoming friends with them. "Love Jihad is a conspiracy. Many Hindu girls have become victims," Vijayvargiya said during his address. "Some youths are quoting Hindu names and emotionally entrapping girls. They are destroying the lives of these young girls. It is essential that we caution girls about such conspiracy," he added. The minister further argued, "Mothers and sisters should make them understand that before making friends with a youth, they should check their family background. It is Sanskar that teaches children to differentiate between the good and the bad." He stated that present-day television serials are disturbing young minds. "Send your children to the park so they can learn wrestling and make good friends," he suggested. "Mobile phones have become the close friends of today's children which is affecting their health and thinking," Vijayvargiya maintained. Recalling Indore's high-profile Raja Raghuvanshi honeymoon murder case, Vijayvargiya remarked, "Had Sonam been trained in good ethics and values, her mother and father would not have had to hide their faces today." Meanwhile, the state Congress responded strongly to Vijayvargiya's comments. State PCC spokesman Abhinav Barolia demanded an apology from Kailash Vijayvargiya for his remarks. "The minister must apologise to women for his remarks. He cannot suppress people by shirking responsibility and talking about teaching values. Your party's govt has been in power in the state for more than two decades and there is a BJP govt at the Centre. And then, you pin the blame on mothers and sisters. What is the double-engine govt doing?" he asked.

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar's resignation could trigger major overhaul in BJP, govt

New Delhi: Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar 's resignation is set to trigger a major overhaul in both the BJP and the government. His exit comes at a time when the party is already scouting for a new president. For president, the party is looking for a leader who can steer it into the 2029 Lok Sabha elections while complementing the achievements of the NDA government under PM Narendra Modi 's leadership. The new chief is likely to be an insider aligned closely with the BJP and RSS ' core ideology. The vacancy in the V-P 's post has left the BJP with the twin task of choosing a new party chief and a vice president for the country, where taking NDA allies along will be crucial. For the vice president's post, the BJP will need a candidate with the experience and ability to handle key constitutional responsibilities. Ahead of 2029, major bills like One Nation, One Election are expected, making the Rajya Sabha chairman 's role crucial for both the government and the BJP's future agenda. Under these circumstances, a cabinet reshuffle appears imminent, with new faces likely to be inducted and some existing ministers reassigned. This would trigger a major shake-up in both the government and the party. With the Bihar assembly elections due later this year, the BJP is expected to embrace these changes swiftly. Live Events A few days ago, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat triggered a debate on age as he turns 75 later this year. Bhagwat said that at 75 it is expected that you should make way for others. Dhankhar turned 74 in May this year. Though no age criteria have been defined for any constitutional post, age is a subject on which debate keeps taking place. In all probability, the resignation is going to lead a transformation in the way the BJP and the current government is looking at the future agenda of the party as well as the Viksit Bharat goal envisioned by PM Modi.
