NEW MARKETS IN AL BATINAH S TO BOOST COMMERCE

AL RUSTAQ: The implementation rate at Wadi Al Maawil Market project has crossed 90 per cent and 70 per cent at the Al Awabi Market. The two projects are part of the government's ongoing efforts to improve services, achieve sustainable development and boost the national economy.
In the Wilayat of Al Awabi, a commercial market project extending over an area of 1,200 square metres, comprising 16 shops, is underway. The project, with a total investment of RO 200,000, aims to provide a modern commercial centre to stimulate commercial and social activity in the wilayat.
In the Wilayat of Wadi Al Maawil, work is in progress to construct a commercial market spanning an area of 1,800 square metres, with 27 shops at a cost of RO 300,000. The project contributes to developing the urban landscape and strengthening the trade and tourism sectors in the wilayat. The project has achieved significant progress with 92 per cent already completed. Once operational, the market will stir commercial activities and provide an integrated business environment.
Both markets include cafes, mosques, parking lots, open seating areas and green spaces providing an integrated environment that meets shoppers' needs and offers a comfortable and modern shopping experience.
These projects reflect the continued efforts made by the Al Batinah South Governorate to develop commercial markets and are expected to stimulate commercial activity and create new investment opportunities. — ONA

The organization includes more than 1,600 zones and economic institutions from over 140 countries. This membership aligns with the Authority's ongoing efforts to enhance the competitiveness of the special economic zones, free zones, and industrial cities under OPAZ supervision. It also aims to open new horizons for promoting these zones internationally as leading investment destinations known for their flexibility, readiness, and advanced infrastructure, reflecting a strategic direction to strengthen the international presence of Oman's zones. OPAZ's membership aims to create more opportunities for exchanging expertise and adopting best practices alongside leading international partners. It also contributes to improving operational efficiency and developing promotional and marketing tools, thus supporting efforts to attract high-quality investments and projects with substantial added value. Through this international partnership, the Authority seeks to expand its economic network and benefit from global trends in the management and development of special economic zones, free zones, and industrial cities. It is worth noting that the number of active special economic, free, and industrial zones in the Sultanate of Oman has reached 23, with cumulative investment reaching approximately RO 21 billion by the end of 2024.

AL JABAL AL AKHDHAR: A meeting was held on Thursday in the Wilayat of Al Jabal Al Akhdhar in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, chaired by Shaikh Hilal bin Said al Hajri, Governor of Al Dakhiliyah. The meeting was attended by Shaikh Sultan bin Mansoor al Ghufaili, Wali of Al Jabal Al Akhdhar, and Masoud bin Sulaiman al Azri, Director-General of Agricultural and Fisheries Marketing at the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources. The meeting reviewed the initial concept of an investment project the ministry intends to implement in the wilayat. The project includes multiple facilities, most notably a "Honey Museum" with halls dedicated to the history of Omani bees, a sorting unit, a scientific laboratory and an environmental corner, in addition to other service facilities. The project also features a local rose farm, a rosewater distillation factory with an interactive viewing window, a dedicated area for workshops and a shop for rose products, along with other service amenities. Furthermore, the project will include an olive farm and a public park that promote integrated eco-tourism and agricultural concepts. These facilities will be developed under a corporate investment system in partnership with the private sector. - ONA

By OMAN NEWS AGENCY (ONA) London – His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik met UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer at 10 Downing Street on Wednesday where the two leaders discussed ways to deepen the strategic partnership between Oman and the United Kingdom. The meeting reviewed existing cooperation and reaffirmed the shared commitment to broadening ties across economic, investment and trade sectors, in line with the mutual aspirations for greater prosperity. The leaders also exchanged views on regional and international developments. His Majesty the Sultan welcomed the United Kingdom's intention to recognise the State of Palestine and reiterated Oman's firm support for all efforts aimed at achieving a just and comprehensive peace based on international legitimacy and the two-state solution. PM Starmer praised Oman's constructive role under His Majesty the Sultan's leadership in promoting dialogue and peace, and contributing to regional and international security and stability. The meeting was attended from the Omani side by Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidi, Foreign Minister; Dr Hamad bin Said al Aufi, Head of Private Office; and Badr bin Mohammed al Mandhari, Ambassador of Oman to the United Kingdom. Representing the UK were Jonathan Powell, National Security Adviser, and Dr Lianne Saunders, British Ambassador to Oman.
