Ex-Yankee Jose Trevino throws slowest pitch of MLB season — here's what it was clocked at
Reds backup catcher Jose Trevino, the former Yankee, came in to put an end to an eventual 12-2 Marlins win and threw the slowest pitch in MLB this season with his 31.1-mph pitch in the ninth inning to catcher Agustin Ramirez, according to Baseball Savant.

Trevino hilariously was credited with employing three pitch types: a fastball that topped out in the low 60s, an eephus that bottomed out at 31.1 but also hovered in the low 40s and a knuckleball that sat consistently in the 50s.
He threw 35 pitches in his outing, allowing a run on four hits while not issuing any walks.
Jose Trevino has been a pitcher for the Reds in his spare time, getting mop up duty.

The Reds backstop also pitched against the Red Sox earlier this year, striking out promising 22-year-old infielder Marcelo Mayer.

Trevino, who spent three seasons with the Yankees from 2022-24, also pitched twice for the Bombers, going 2 ⅓ cumulative innings while allowing just one run on four hits.
Trevino threw the slowest pitch in the MLB this season.

The 32-year-old became a Platinum Glove winner and All-Star during his time in The Bronx, but has since found himself playing behind Reds catcher Tyler Stephenson.
When he faced the Yankees in June, he emotionally told The Post's Greg Joyce that being a Yankee was a dream come true.
'It's cool, man,' Trevino said while getting choked up as he spoke at his locker inside the home clubhouse at Great American Ballpark. 'It's a lot of hard work.

'I will always say that those guys — the organization itself, as a kid, it's who I wanted to play for. It was a great time in my life, for sure.'
Trevino is hitting .283 with four home runs and 14 RBIs in 166 at-bats this season for the Reds — and a 3.86 ERA following Tuesday's stint.

The Padres reportedly gave up shortstop Leodalis De Vries in the trade, per Passan. De Vries entered the 2025 season as a consensus top-20 prospect in the game. De Vries, 18, is hitting .245/.357/.410 in 368 plate appearances in the minors this season. Miller is under team control through the 2029 season, making this much more than just a rental. Few relievers are as feared as Miller, who throws the hardest of any pitcher in MLB with a fastball averaging 101.1 mph and has topped out at 104.1 mph. Since making his MLB debut in 2023, he has blown hitter after hitter away with that heat and his wipeout slider, against which batters are slugging .111 this season. Miller hasn't been completely dominant, as evidenced by his 3.76 ERA in 2025, but he has stuff you can't teach. And now he's going to a team clearly eager to use him. The Padres bullpen is headlined by closer Robert Suarez and set-up men Jason Adam and Adrián Morejón, all three of whom were named to the 2025 MLB All-Star Game. It was the first time a team had ever sent three relievers to the same All-Star Game, and now they're adding a guy with better raw stuff than any of them. It's unclear what role Miller will fill in San Diego. When it comes to deciding a closer, he is certainly the biggest name of the newly formed quartet for most fans, but incumbency and surface-level numbers are mostly on Suarez's side. Regardless, it's a good problem to have. Trading Miller is a significant sign for the A's given his age and four years of team control left after this season. The team has been navigating a delicate situation all year, trying to stay respectable enough while they play in a minor league ballpark while building with an eye toward a future in Las Vegas, where they are theoretically lined up to debut in 2028 (assuming there are no hiccups with the funding and construction of their new stadium). To trade Miller, the kind of reliever who draws eyes and social media followers every time he takes the mound, is an odd move for a team that really wants to be competitive as it's settling into its new home. The counter-argument is the players it got for Miller can help that effort as well, but it's a big bet. Which is apt, given their destination.

Christian Moore returns from injury on rehab assignment
Former Vol Christian Moore returned from injury on Wednesday with the Inland Empire 66ers, a Single-A affiliate of the Angels. He started at second base in the 66ers', 6-5, win at Lake Elsinore. The former Vol went 2-for-3, recording two doubles, one walk and one run. Moore was placed on the 10-day injured list by Los Angeles on July 3 due to a left thumb sprain. He was placed on a rehab assignment on Wednesday to Inland Empire. Moore made his MLB debut with the Angels on June 13. In 18 games this season, he has recorded a .189 batting average, three home runs, eight RBIs, eight runs, 10 hits, 21 total bases, eight walks and 20 strikeouts. Moore was selected by the Angels in the first round (No. 8 overall) of the 2024 MLB draft. He played at Tennessee from 2022-24 and appeared in 186 games, totaling 61 home runs, 160 RBIs and 179 runs.
