Head coach of the England women's national football team Sarina Wiegman is widely recognised for her success on the field, but her private life remains notably low-key, especially when it comes to her husband and her family life.

The celebrated Dutch football coach, 55, who is celebrating a third European Championships win and a second with England, has transformed England 's fortunes since taking over four years ago.

With Sarina's coaching, the Lionesses won the Euros in 2022, and then made it all the way to the World Cup final where they were narrowly beaten by Spain in the final in 2023.

Sarina was cheered on in Sunday's Switzerland showdown by husband Marten Glotzbach, who has been at her side throughout her incredible career in football.
Marten, 55, is a former football coach and currently works as an economics professor in the Netherlands. The couple met in 1994 and have two daughters, both of whom are also passionate about football.

Marten started his career working as a youth trainer and coordinator in sports broadcasting and later qualified as a football coach. He has worked alongside Sarina during her coaching stints with both the Dutch and English women's teams.
Despite their public roles, Sarina and Marten lead a very private life and rarely share any insight into their home life on social media.
They prefer to keep their family life away from the media spotlight, protecting their daughters' privacy and limiting public appearances. Sarina has spoken about how important it is to keep her family life private and credits Marten with being a steady support at home, helping her balance the demands of her high-profile career.

Sarina reportedly chose to move with her husband and her children to the UK after realising that she would need to relocate for her role as coach for the Lionesses.
Despite rarely sharing a look into her marriage or personal life, following on from England's Euro success in 2022, Sarina headed on holiday with her husband and the couple posed for a selfie together on the beach.

'Family time! Different mode than two weeks ago but still enjoying all the amazing footage that's passing by…' she wrote in the caption at the time.
Sarina and Marten are proud parents to two daughters together, Sacha and Lauren. Eldest daughter Lauren, 21, briefly followed in her parents footsteps and pursued a career in football.
When she was 19-years-old, Lauren signed a contract for Dutch football club ADO Den Haag, with whom she played for two years, before her contract ended in May 2025.

Not much else is known about Sarina's daughters as she tries to keep her family life out of the public eye as much as possible, and both Sacha and Lauren have set their Instagram accounts to private.
It comes after Sarina broke down in tears following England's win at Euros. The legendary football manager has suffered some heartbreaking setbacks in her personal life, whilst going from strength to strength professionally.

A personal tragedy struck only a couple of years into Sarina's time in Britain. Her sister, Diana, had been diagnosed with cancer in 2021 - and over the following year got increasingly ill. She was heartbreakingly never able to travel to England to see Sarina in action.
In May 2022, the family was given the tragic news that Diana did not have much time left, and Sarina told the Guardian that despite the heartbreaking update, "We made that such a valuable month."

Diana died just over a month before the Women's Euros 2022 began, and Sarina revealed that she had support from throughout the Football Association to get her through such a tough time, explaining that during the tournament she felt incredibly connected to her late sister, who she knew would have wanted her to give the Euros everything she could.
However, the night before the final against Germany, the massive loss she had suffered suddenly hit Sarina hard and she broke down.
"We were preparing and all of a sudden it hit me: 'OK, this is not what I want.' That's completely normal, it's had such an impact and is so emotional," Sarina said.

However, she turned to the support system around her to make sure that she got through the unbelievably difficult moment.
"During that whole period, I knew I could talk to anyone, but especially Kate Hays, our sports psychologist. I would just sit down with her and talk about it and, when you talk about it, it's kind of a relief. So we did that the day before the final and actually when we played the final I was really happy in the moment and I didn't have to cry, so that was settled."
When the Lionesses won the match, Sarina was seen kissing the bracelet she wore and walking onto the pitch to celebrate with her players - the bracelet had once belonged to her sister, and the manager wore it as a tribute to Diana, keeping her close throughout.
