Michael Beasley calls out Carmelo Anthony in NSFW rant
Former NBA forward Michael Beasley reignited his ongoing one-on-one challenge to Carmelo Anthony with a profanity-laced rant, escalating tensions between the two former stars. Beasley's latest comments came during a Big3 event and directly targeted the New York Knicks legend and newly elected 2025 Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame inductee.
'Melo said he'll never lose a one-on-one, but he copped the f—k out and said, 'yeah, I wanna, I wanna, I wanna,'' Beasley said. 'If y'all really jump on my line with that s—t we can really do it, we can really do it. No cop outs, throw the f—ing money up. Y'all know where I am, y'all vacation here… I see where the f—k y'all at, throw the money up.'
Beasley, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft, has leaned into public challenges and one-on-one matchups in recent months. The former Miami Heat and Minnesota Timberwolves forward previously defeated Lance Stephenson 31-21 in The Next Chapter (TNC), a high-profile 1-on-1 event that earned him a $100,000 prize.
Michael Beasley reignites 1-on-1 challenge vs. Carmelo Anthony
Following that win, Beasley first called out Anthony during a livestream appearance with Adin Ross, Neon, and Stephenson.
'I'll bust his a**,' Beasley said at the time.
Anthony, who officially retired from the NBA in 2023, responded to Beasley's remarks during an episode of 7PM in Brooklyn, his podcast co-hosted with The Kid Mero. The 10-time NBA All-Star addressed the challenge while expressing support for Beasley's efforts.
'Let me clear this up, I'm not losing a one-on-one game, bro, I'm not,' Anthony said. 'I've never lost a one-on-one game. I'm not saying I'm going out there playing, but I'm saying I did this. I got ridiculed for doing this s— at the highest level, for being a one-on-one [player]. So I'm not going out there playing one-on-one. I want to sit there and support a [guy] like Beas for the culture.'
Anthony is also set to be featured on the cover of NBA 2K26's Superstar Edition, releasing September 5, further solidifying his post-career presence in the sport.
The back-and-forth between Beasley and Anthony highlights a growing cultural interest in one-on-one matchups involving former NBA players, particularly as fan engagement through platforms like the Big3 and livestreams continues to grow.
While no official plans have been announced for a Beasley-Anthony matchup, Beasley's recent rant suggests his pursuit of a high-stakes game remains serious. Anthony has yet to indicate any intention to accept the challenge.

Alperen Sengun expects Kevin Durant to ‘open up the game' for Rockets
'Everyone is excited to play with him,' Alperen Sengun says of Houston's newly acquired star. 'It doesn't matter his age — ultimately, he's Kevin Durant.' Later this month, Houston Rockets center and 2025 NBA All-Star Alperen Sengun plans to play for his native Turkey in this year's EuroBasket 2025 competition. It will be the 42nd edition of the EuroBasket championship, which represents the quadrennial international men's basketball championship organized by FIBA Europe. The tournament is being co-hosted by Cyprus, Finland, Poland, and Latvia, with games taking place from August 27 to September 14. With preparations underway, Sengun recently granted an interview to Anadolu, a state-run news agency in Turkey. These were among Sengun's first public comments of the 2025 NBA offseason, since players have no requirements to do interviews when there aren't games. Naturally, Sengun was asked about the blockbuster trade bringing 15-time All-Star Kevin Durant to the Rockets. His response, via Anadolu: I'm excited to play with Durant. Everyone is excited to play with him. It doesn't matter his age — ultimately, he's Kevin Durant. I have no doubt he will bring a lot to the team. He's very experienced, and we have some very young players. I think he'll open up the game for us. He's incredibly effective both offensively and defensively. The Rockets are coming off a 52-30 season with the No. 2 record in the Western Conference, and considering the offseason additions of veterans like Durant, Dorian Finney-Smith, and Clint Capela, Houston is among the initial championship favorites for the NBA's 2025-26 campaign. But part of the reason for that optimism isn't just the individual play of newly acquired veterans. The idea is that because Houston has a relatively young rotation featuring up-and-comers such as Sengun, Amen Thompson, Jabari Smith Jr., Tari Eason, and Reed Sheppard (all between 21 and 24 years old), the Rockets could have more room for internal growth than many of their competitors. As Sengun notes, the idea is that Durant's experience — in addition to the elite perimeter scoring and floor spacing that he almost always brings —can further boost the development of those young players. Nets ranked as worst team in Eastern Conference by NBA.com
The Brooklyn Nets were one of the more active teams in the NBA this offseason as they are looking to tweak their roster while planning for the future. Brooklyn is still in the early stages of its rebuild so the team isn't necessarily looking to make it to the playoffs next season, but the view of the team from pundits suggests that next season could be a tough one. John Schuhmann recently published his power rankings for every team in the Eastern Conference and in his list, he had the Nets ranked as the worst team in the conference following their offseason moves. The most notable moves that Brooklyn made was selecting five players in the 2025 NBA Draft and trading Cam Johnson to the Denver Nuggets for forward Michael Porter Jr. and a 2032 first-round pick. One of the more interesting parts about the Nets' performance during the 2024-25 season is that they finished with a 26-56 record despite beginning the campaign with a 9-10 record, putting them on pace to finish slightly below 40 wins on the season. Given that Brooklyn was hoping to get a high draft pick in the 2025 Draft, they eventually traded Dennis Schroder to the Golden State Warriors to start what would eventually be a harder push to the rebuild. Whether or not the Nets are hoping to improve on their record from the 2024-25 campaign, they are still hoping to improve on both sides of the floor, especially when it comes to efficiency on the offensive end. "They took 24% of their shots, the league's highest rate, in the last six seconds of the shot clock, according to Second Spectrum tracking. Their effective field goal percentage of 44.2% in the last six seconds ranked 25th," Schuhmann noted. As it stands, the Nets will be heading into next season with Nic Claxton at center, Porter at one of the forward spots, Egor Demin at point guard, and presumably Cam Thomas at the shooting guard spot. Brooklyn will be hoping that their rookies and young players make strides over the course of what could be another rough season from a wins and losses perspective. "Over the last 20 years, the 2014-15 Sixers had the highest percentage of their minutes (37%) that went to rookies, and only one of their nine rookies was a first-round pick. The Nets could certainly challenge that mark and maximize their odds for a higher selection than they got this year," Schuhmann wrote.
