Open day to try out a rapidly-growing sport
As part of Stockton Heath Lawn Tennis Club's upcoming open day, the club are offering the chance to try out pickleball – a racquet sport played on a smaller court that is increasing in popularity among all age groups.

There are two pickleball courts at the Delphfields Road club as well as seven tennis courts, and players of all ages and abilities are invited to give both sports a try on the open day, which takes place on Sunday, July 6.
The event runs from 1pm until 3pm and refreshments will be available on the day as well as more information about what the club can provide including coaching, social events and school holiday tennis camps for children.

'I think the players are still adjusting. A definite advantage to Arsenal because they have been here longer. It is a pre-season game and we will be looking to get bits from it.' Howe's side thrashed Carlisle United 4-0 on July 12th, a week before Arsenal even played their first match, and they subsequently lost 4-0 to a Celtic side containing Auston Trusty and Kieran Tierney last weekend. There's really no reason why Newcastle would be less prepared for a match, it's just perhaps a question of whether Arsenal will have adapted better to the Singapore heat. The Carlisle match was at the Newcastle's training ground, and the Celtic game was at Celtic Park. Unlike Arsenal, Howe's side are yet to play a match in Asia this summer. It's an open secret that the player has also asked to leave the club this summer. Sunday's game is only a friendly, with the two teams playing for pride but primarily to build fitness. If Howe is right to be so pessimistic about his team, it's a shame there won't be three points at stake.

Phillies third baseman Edmundo Sosa leaves after collision with left fielder Brandon Marsh
NEW YORK (AP) — Philadelphia third baseman Edmundo Sosa left Saturday's game against the New York Yankees after he was elbowed in the back by left fielder Brandon Marsh in a collision while catching Jazz Chisholm Jr.'s seventh-inning popup. Sosa, Marsh and shortstop Trea Turner converged on the ball in short left field. Turner peeled off, Sosa made the catch, then was knocked to the ground by Marsh. Sosa's fall caused the ball to pop out of his glove. After Phillies head athletic trainer Paul Buchheit and manager Rob Thomson came out to attend to Sosa, the third baseman walked off slowly with Marsh's arm around him. Umpires initially awarded Chisholm a hit, but the call was changed to an inning-ending out in a video review as they concluded Sosa had possession of the ball before hitting the grass.
