Aamir Khan and Karisma Kapoor's superhit film Raja Hindustani, released in 1996, was the biggest box office success of that year and became one of the highest-grossing films of the 1990s. While Aamir and Karisma played the lead roles, one actress who truly stole the limelight with the song ' Pardesi Pardesi Jaana Nahi' was Pratibha Sinha. Though she appeared in just that one song, it was enough for her to be nicknamed the 'Pardesi Girl.' Pratibha went on to act in several other films, but her career never reached the heights of her mother, veteran actress Mala Sinha.
Pratibha Sinha's father, Chidambaram Prasad Lohani, passed away in 2024, while her mother, Mala Sinha, who needs no introduction, is still with her daughter. Let's take a look at the films Pratibha Sinha has worked in, and find out where she is and what she's doing these days.
How was Pratibha Sinha's film career?
Pratibha Sinha's mother Mala Sinha was active in films, so Pratibha was inclined towards the film world since childhood. At the age of 22, Pratibha made her Bollywood debut with Sujoy Mukherjee's film Mehboob Mere Mehboob (1992). After this, Pratibha worked in about 20 to 25 films including 'Dil Hai Betaab', 'Deewana-Mastana', 'Tu Chor Main Sipahi', 'Gudgudi', 'Kal Ki Awaaz', 'Mrityuraaj' and 'Ek Tha Raja'. When Pratibha entered Bollywood in the 90s, she was considered a competitor of Madhuri Dixit, but her career ended in a few years. Why did Pratibha Sinha leave acting?
Pratibha Sinha's film career did not last long. She fell in love with famous music director, Nadeem Saifi and reportedly sacrificed her acting career.
For those who don't know, Nadeem Saifi is one of the most famous music directors in the history of Indian cinema. His duo with Shravan Kumar Rathod is considered among the most successful duos in the Indian music industry. Derived by the name 'Nadeem-Shravan', they ruled the industry from the 1990s to the 2000s. Pratibha and Nadeem came closer while working together in the films, Kal Ki Awaz and Raja Hindustani . Pratibha Sinha looks like this now:
However, Pratibha's mother was against her relationship with Nadeem. Mala sent Pratibha to Chennai. However, even after going to Chennai, they continued their relationship and started planning to get married. As per a report in Jansatta, Pratibha boldly stated in an old interview that she wanted to marry Saifi. However, their relationship took an unusual turn when her mother and she organised a press conference in Mumbai, in which the latter accused Nadeem Saifi of kidnapping and rape.
A few years later, Nadeem Saifi opened up about the accusations of rape and kidnapping made by Pratibha. He said Mala Sinha played with him by publicly making false accusations against him. The music director added that Mala and Pratibha wanted publicity, so they tarnished his image with false allegations.

Ram Kapoor says family went ‘berserk' after his controversy during Mistry promotions, claims ‘it was not a big deal'

Actor Ram Kapoor recently found himself at the centre of a controversy after being removed from the promotional activities of his web series Mistry for making inappropriate remarks. In an interview with Zoom, Ram admitted that the situation made him nervous and scared and that his family "went berserk", but he maintained that, for him, it was 'not a big deal'. Ram Kapoor recalled his family going berserk over the controversy about him making inappropriate remarks. Ram Kapoor admits being scared about the controversy He recalled feeling scared and nervous during the controversy and said, 'I try not to make anything into too big a deal because I genuinely am of the thought process that, see, people don't realise this, but all the big deals in our life are choices that we make. When this news hit, my family and my network and my staff went berserk. And I was telling everyone, 'Why are you all reacting so much? I will handle it.' And I did handle it. For me, it was definitely a situation that needed to be handled, but it was not a big deal.' Ram Kapoor on his mindset during the controversy Explaining his mindset further, he added, 'I told my children the same thing: that, guys, all this will happen in life. You will decide whether it's going to be a big deal or not. So that doesn't mean that you ignore it or bypass it. Things have to be handled, but without panic. I tend to do that in every area of my life. I don't want to sound as if I'm preaching because I have nobody to preach to. But if you don't allow anything to become a big deal, then you will not let anything affect you too much, which is good. Because small, unnecessary things affect us and waste our lives.' About the controversy During promotional activities for Mistry, Ram reportedly made a series of sexually inappropriate and offensive remarks directed at publicists and members of the show's marketing team, which left the crew uncomfortable. As a result, he was removed from further promotional events. Among the remarks, he allegedly made comments about kissing a male executive from the marketing team and joked that his mother 'should have gone to sleep' instead of conceiving him. About Mistry Directed by Rishab Seth and produced by Banijay Asia in association with Universal International Studios, Mistry is the Indian adaptation of the award-winning US series Monk. The series stars Ram Kapoor, Mona Singh, Shikha Talsania, and Kshitish Date in key roles and is currently streaming on JioHotstar.
