Princess Anne appointed president of Devon County Show
The Devon County Agricultural Association (DCAA) announced the appointment of Her Royal Highness, Princess Anne, during its annual meeting on January 31.
The DCAA, known for its flagship event, the Devon County Show, expressed its delight at having the Princess Royal as its figurehead, given her "longstanding commitment to food, farming, and the countryside".

The Princess Royal, the only daughter of the late Queen Elizabeth II and sister to King Charles III, runs her own farm and estate in Gloucestershire.
She was also the first member of the Royal Family to compete in the Olympic Games, riding the late Queen's horse, Goodwill, in the equestrian three-day event.
She succeeds celebrated Michelin star chef Michael Caines MBE DL as president.
The Princess Royal will be supported in her year of office by deputy president Roger Ellis.
Mr Ellis, a fourth-generation farmer from Dunchideock, took over the family farm at the age of 18 following his father's death.

He said: "I am honoured to take up the deputy presidency and will greatly enjoy supporting the Princess Royal during her year as our president, particularly given our mutual passion for horses and rural life.
"2025 also happens to be the year that my wife Mary and I celebrate our diamond wedding anniversary—60 years of marriage, which is quite a milestone.
"It's going to be quite a year all around."
The Devon County Show always provided Mr Ellis with a welcome distraction from the responsibilities and challenges he faced with the farm in the early days, in particular the hefty burden of death duties.
His connection with this annual celebration of rural life in Devon spans an impressive 60 years, most recently serving as chief steward of the horse section—an apt role given the Princess Royal's equine interests and connections.
The Princess Royal has been named the hardest-working royal of 2024 for the fourth year in a row, after carrying out 395 engagements in the UK and 79 abroad.
The Devon County Show takes place on May 15, 16, and 17.

Royal Victoria Yacht Club celebrates 180th anniversary
The Royal Victoria Yacht Club (RVYC) has celebrated its 180th anniversary. The milestone was marked at the Fishbourne clubhouse over the weekend of June 28 and 29 with a series of events, including a regatta sponsored by Mermaid Gin and featuring races for all types of craft. Advertisement Established on May 24, 1845, RVYC boasts a rich history, having hosted the 1908 Olympic yacht races for Eight Metre, Seven Metre, and Six Metre yachts. The club's journey has not always been smooth. RVYC previous commodores. (Image: RVYC) Social changes post-war led to challenging times, with the club facing the brink of closure. However, a merger in 1961 with Fishbourne Sailing Club and Wootton Creek Sailing Club revitalised the institution, leading to a new clubhouse being opened in Fishbourne in 1962 by Prince Philip. Advertisement Today, the RVYC is thriving, boasting a flourishing cadet section, an expanding fleet of MOCRA multi-hulls and Scows, and a growing membership. The club, which weathered the Covid lockdowns, welcomed HRH The Princess Royal in 2021 for its 175th anniversary. The RVYC remains a popular venue for open events and rallies, holding a prime position at the mouth of Wootton Creek with views across the Solent. On June 28, the regatta was followed by a barbecue and live music from The Accelerators, long-time favourites at the RVYC. The celebrations continued on June 29 with a welcome from Commodore Helen Vrba to visiting commodores from Brading Haven YC, Sea View YC and East Cowes Sailing Club, as well as some of the RVYC's longest-serving members. Advertisement A highlight was the celebration sail-past of members' boats, which was described as a spectacular sight. Vessels ranging from large cruisers and multi-hulls to paddleboards, rowing skiffs, and even two swan pedalos participated, sweeping past the pontoon to take the salute before heading out to sea. The weekend's celebrations concluded with afternoon tea on the lawn and a toast by former Commodore Alan Colville, celebrating both the club's past and its future. The RVYC, although transformed from its Victorian and Edwardian heyday, retains artefacts from its rich history on display in the clubhouse, a reminder of its prestigious past.

Michelin Bib stalls join in Raffles City's reopened food court
The reopening of The Food Place at Raffles City brings a 20-stall array that's bound to satisfy your cravings. The crowds were at an all-time high as I took in all the new stalls that had set up in the new storefront. A concept by Food Republic, The Food Place aims to combine Michelin-recognised brands with food court prices. Among these renowned names is Mon Kee Café, responsible for authentic Hong Kong cha chan teng-style recipes. They are especially famous for their scrambled egg rice, featuring various cooked meats enveloped within a layer of fluffy egg. The Scrambled Egg Rice with Homemade Sweet Sauce (S$8.50) was a plate of true indulgence. The soupy sauce was drizzled generously, coating the entirety of the omelette. Paired with the thick slices of char siew, each bite was a balance of sweet and savoury. I love how the scrambled eggs were still slightly moist, adding a velvety texture as they mix with the rice. A dish like this can only be called comforting! Ever wondered what stars like Jay Chou, Alan Tam and Bosco Wong enjoy during lunch? Well, come for a taste of Ju Xing Fish then! They're the first sauerkraut fish express concept by Ju Xing Home: a Hong Kong restaurant awarded the Michelin Bib Gourmand for 6 years since 2018. This Sauerkraut Fish Soup (S$13.80) features crunchy grass carp. The sour and slightly spicy soup whets the appetite. I was pleasantly surprised by the texture of the fish. It was meaty and light, enhanced by the acidity of the soup. Smash burger fans, you're going to love this one. Smash by BurgerLabo brings their juicy, umami-rich burgers to The Food Place's reopening. The Smash Burger (S$16.80) was filled with pickled onions, two thick beef patties, and a creamy sauce. It also came with a side of salted fries that were fried to crisp perfection. Seared on a griddle till a crust is formed, the minced beef turns an appetising caramel brown. So, if you're not sure of what to eat, why not pop by The Food Place? You're bound to find something that tempts you when you arrive! Princess Anne Just Debuted a New Hairstyle For the 1st Time in Decades
You know the saying Don't mess with what works. Princess Anne certainly does. The Princess has sported the same hairstyle for years, to the point where it has become synonymous with her. She is, after all, a public figure, which means people pay attention to things like what she's wearing and her hairstyle. And that means people have noticed that she has kept the same one for decades, and they certainly noticed the change. The Princess debuted her new look during a state dinner where King Charles and Queen Camilla welcomed French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte Macron. Alongside the new hairstyle, she was wearing a white gown and the Festoon tiara, while accompanied by her husband, Sir Tim Laurence. More from StyleCaster Princess Anne's Son Just Made a Rare Public Appearance After Report William Has Plans For His Cousins When He's King King Charles Just Hinted He's Officially Disowned Harry After Seemingly Claiming He Only Has 1 Son Related: Here's what each royal inherited from Queen Elizabeth Princess Anne's hair being a topic of discussion isn't surprising, considering she's had the same look for over five decades. When she was younger, Princess Anne was sometimes seen with her hair down, but she's kept the pretty consistent bouffant for years. Until now, when her hair was styled in more of a low chignon. Of course, the internet took notice. One user wrote on X: 'Lovely to see HRH switching her hairstyle up a lil bit and Sir Tim is wearing the traditional Windsor uniform/suit.' A second one was more enthusiastic: 'Ma'am!!!!!!!! Princess Anne is certainly serving looks tonight.' This news comes amid recent reports that the Princess had been advocating for her brother, King Charles, to reconnect with his youngest son, Prince Harry, amid his cancer diagnosis. She has also been trying to get his brother to play intermediary in the part of the feud that concerns Prince Harry and Prince William. 'The news that her beloved brother's cancer is incurable has forced her to face a devastating reality – there's a sense of urgency and time's running out,' a source told Woman's Day. Prince Harry recently said, in a BBC interview. 'I would love reconciliation with my family. There's no point in continuing to fight anymore. Life is precious. I don't know how much longer my father has.' But the Prince also revealed his father isn't speaking to him, which might have prompted Princess Anne to step in to try to help fix the rift between father and son. The Princess is said to be one of her brother's closest confidants and someone who isn't afraid to call him out when needed. 'As tough as it's been, Anne and Charles have been having serious discussions about his final wishes, all of which she has every intention of keeping – and it's Anne that's urging the King to pursue one in particular that right now appears to be impossible – finding a way to end this out-of-control feud between his sons, even if it's not in his lifetime.' Whether Princess Anne will succeed in her quest or not remains to be seen, but for now, it seems like one more person is looking for reconciliation. And she will do so with a new hairdo.
