March Madness: Oklahoma vs. UConn odds, picks and predictions
The Sooners draw the 2-time defending national champions looking to do what no one has been able to do recently — send UConn home early.
Oklahoma lost 85-84 to the Kentucky Wildcats in the SEC Tournament, but it covered as a 6.5-point underdog. That's been a theme for the Sooners lately, as they've rattled off 7 consecutive covers despite going just 3-3 straight up (SU) in the past 6 games. The Sooners are also just 4-8 SU in the past 12 games since Feb. 4, and 7-13 SU in 20 outings since ringing in the new year.
Oklahoma G Jeremiah Fears and F Jalon Moore were a nice two-headed monster in the regular season. Fears had 17.0 points per game (PPG) with 4.1 rebounds per game (RPG) and 4.1 steals per game, while Moore posted 16.0 PPG and 5.8 RPG, hitting 39.1% from behind the 3-point line.
UConn went 6-0 SU/ATS in the NCAA Tournament last season enroute to a second straight title. The Under was 6-0 in those games. In 2023, the Huskies were also 6-0 SU/ATS, while the Over was 4-2. UConn hasn't lost in the NCAA Tournament since March 17, 2023, at KeyBank Center in Buffalo, when it was ousted by the 12-seed New Mexico State Aggies 70-63.
As far as the total, the Over is 5-1-1 in the past 7 games for Oklahoma. For UConn, though, the Under has cashed in 5 in a row.
UConn freshman Liam McNeeley was a great addition this season, going for 14.5 PPG and 6.1 RPG, just behind G Solo Ball for the team lead with 14.6 PPG. F Alex Karaban was also right there with 14.4 PPG, while posting 5.2 RPG, 2.9 assists and 1.6 blocks per game.

Oklahoma vs. UConn picks and predictions
Prediction
UConn 76, Oklahoma 69
UConn (-235) is a little on the pricey side, and you cannot bet that straight up. However, if you were to toss the 2-time defending national champs into a multi-leg parlay, that is certainly OK, especially with a boost.
PASS.
UCONN -5.5 (-110) is worth a look laying nearly 3 buckets.
While Oklahoma +5.5 (-110) have been pesky, this isn't likely a team to dethrone a dynasty. The Sooners have a dismal 7-13 SU record since the ball dropped to ring in 2025. Oklahoma is consistently ticking off covers, but UConn is also 12-0 SU/ATS in the past 12 NCAA Tournament games. Are you betting against that type of dominance?
UNDER 147.5 (-105) is the lean, but don't get too carried away.
The Under has connected in 5 straight games for UConn, and the total went low in all 6 NCAA Tournament games for the Huskies enroute to their second straight title last season.
For Oklahoma, the Over is 4-1 in the past 5 games, but we're banking on UConn's suffocating defense to shut things down.

USC women's basketball announces nonconference schedule for 2025-2026 season
While the start of the 2025 college football season is just around the corner, college basketball is also not all that far away. On Tuesday, USC women's basketball released its nonconference schedule for the 2025-2026 season. The Trojans will certainly not be shying away from high-profile opponents this year. USC's nonconference slate includes matchups with the two teams who played in last year's national championship game in South Carolina and UConn, as well as a trip to South Bend, Indiana to take on annual powerhouse Notre Dame. Let's take a look at the Trojans' full nonconference slate: Vs. New Mexico State, November 4 USC will tip off its season at Galen Center in early November. Vs. North Carolina State (in Charlotte), November 9 It will not take long for Lindsay Gottlieb's team to face their first real test of the season. Less than a week in, the Women of Troy will travel across the country to take on NC State at Spectrum Center in Charlotte. Vs. South Carolina (at Arena), November 15 USC will take on the defending national runners-up in Dowtown Los Angeles in an early season showdown. Vs. Portland, November 18 The Trojans will return to Galen Center for a matchup with Portland on November 18. At Notre Dame, November 21 After falling to the Irish at home last season, USC will make the trip to South Bend in 2025. Vs. Tennessee Tech, November 25 The Trojans will spend Thanksgiving week at home with a matchup against Tennessee Tech. Vs. Pepperdine, November 28 The Waves will come to Galen Center for a Southern California showdown on Black Friday. Vs. Saint Mary's, December 2 The Women of Troy will host a West Coast Conference foe to kick off the month of December. Vs. UConn, December 13 In a rematch of the past two Elite Eights, USC and UConn will square off at Galen Center. Both teams will be without their respective superstars from last season, however, as the Huskies' Paige Bueckers is now in the WNBA, and the Trojans' Juju Watkins will almost certainly still be recovering from the ACL injury that she suffered during last year's NCAA Tournament. Vs. Cal Poly, December 18 In one final tune-up game against a mid-major opponent, the Trojans will host Cal Poly. Vs. Cal (In San Francisco), December 21 USC will close out nonconference play with an old Pac-12 showdown in the Bay Area.

SEC Network analyst 'all-in' on Oklahoma Sooners QB John Mateer
.@ChrisDoering is ALL IN on Oklahoma's John Mateer 👀📸 @OU_Football Oklahoma Sooners quarterback John Mateer has received plenty of hype and recognition since signing with OU last winter. However, after being one of two Sooners named to the Maxwell Award watch list earlier this week, there's one college football expert who thinks Mateer will take home an even more prestigious award. SEC Network analyst Chris Doering has big expectations for Mateer this season and believes he'll be named the best player in the SEC and in all of college football by the end of the season. "I'm high on him for a number of reasons," Doering said. "This guy has amazing athletic ability. He's comfortable in the offense that he's already been running at Washington State with Ben Arbuckle as the two come over to Norman together. But I look at his arm strength and his ability to move outside of the pocket and make plays when things break down. Everybody knows that he can run the football, so what do defenses have to do? They have to play vision coverage." Doering went on to describe several plays in which Mateer worked outside the pocket and made deep throws on the move to create big plays. "I'm all in on him," Doering said. "I think this guy is going to be the SEC Player of the Year, and I also think he's going to win the Heisman Trophy," Doering said. If Mateer does in fact win the Heisman Trophy this year, he'll be the eighth Sooner to do so, following running backs Billy Vessels, Steve Owens, and Billy Sims and quarterbacks Jason White, Sam Bradford, Baker Mayfield, and Kyler Murray. Even a season where Mateer plays well enough to be a Heisman Trophy finalist would be absolutely massive for Oklahoma in 2025. Besides their four winners since 1999, OU has had four other players that made the cut as finalists over the last 26 years, but never took home the coveted bronze trophy. Josh Heupel, Adrian Peterson and Jalen Hurts all finished as runners-up, while Dede Westbrook placed fourth. Mateer follows his offensive coordinator, Ben Arbuckle, over from Washington State to Oklahoma. The pair will navigate their first season in the SEC side by side as they look to right the ship on the offensive side of the ball at OU. Mateer has impressed many this offseason with his confidence, demeanor, leadership and ability since arriving in Norman. It's simply hard to overstate how far a Heisman Trophy-level season out of the QB position could potentially take this team in 2025. The Sooners are counting on Mateer to be the centerpiece of their offensive bounce-back this year. ESPN's preseason bracketology places Auburn basketball in South Regional
Is Auburn in a position to repeat last season's success in the NCAA Tournament? A heat wave is currently occupying Auburn, leaving fans wishing for cooler days and action on the hardwood. The Tigers are about three months away from tipping off the 2025-26 season, but preseason projections are scratching the itch of fans everywhere. ESPN's Joe Lunardi has contributed to the preseason chatter by releasing his early "Bracketology" following a wild offseason that featured strong transfer portal movement, recruiting efforts, and stars entering the NBA draft. Early on, at least, Lunardi does not project Auburn to repeat last season's success where they grabbed the No. 1 overall seed. However, the NCAA Tournament guru expects Auburn to have a great season in which they take the No. 4 seed in the South Region, the same region in which the Tigers began their postseason run last season. The early projection places Auburn in a bracket that features plenty of teams they will see during the season. Auburn will face Purdue, the South's projected No. 1 seed, in Indianapolis this season. The Tigers will also see Arizona (No. 3) and Oregon (No. 7) in non-conference play, while battling No. 8 Missouri and No. 10 Vanderbilt in SEC action. Auburn will also face Memphis in an exhibition game in October. The Memphis Tigers are the No. 11 seed in the early forecast from ESPN's Lunardi. Projections of any kind this early are almost destined to be wrong by season's end. However, the field that Lunardi projects for Auburn will be a great litmus test to determine just how strong the team will be this season. Auburn will enter the season with low expectations following the departures of key players such as Johni Broome, Denver Jones, Miles Kelly, and Dylan Cardwell to graduation, and the transfer of Chad Baker-Mazara to USC. Tahaad Pettiford will get the chance to take over the Tigers' starting point guard role, and will have a great supporting cast that features Mississippi State transfer Keshawn Murphy, UCF transfer Keyshawn Murphy, JUCO talent Abdul Bashir, and International player Filip Jovic. While the potential is there for Auburn to keep its momentum from last season's Final Four run, there is plenty of uncertainty surrounding the team and they will need to play at a high level early to solidify their status as a high-seed caliber squad. Lunardi projects the other Final Four teams from last season, Florida, Houston, and Duke, to occupy the No. 1 seeds of the three remaining regionals. Other teams of note include Alabama (No. 5 seed in the Midwest Region), Tennessee (No. 3 in the Midwest Regional), and Arkansas (No. 4 in the East Regional). The SEC is slated to produce 14 NCAA Tournament teams in Lunardi's preseason projection, which is the most among all conferences.
