‘I Guess if It Works, It Works:' Mechanic of 23 Years Works on Ford Ranger. He's Never Seen Something Like This
The TikTok account for Xerowerx (@xerowerx) went viral after the mechanic, Trevor Farid, shared what he found while working on the car. He claimed he had never seen anything like it in all his time as a 'mechanic of all things automotive.'
In the video, the autoworker speaks directly into the camera and explains, 'I've been a mechanic for 23 years now, long time. And I've seen some stuff. … I've seen some stuff that you just wouldn't think was physically possible that works.'
'But I want to show you something I never seen before,' he continues.
Farid explains that while he was trying to get the mileage off the truck he was working on, he happened to notice a fix the owner had done. But what stopped the professional in his tracks was the unusual nature of the DIY repair job.
'Let me show you,' he says before walking over to the truck.
'Got a Ford Ranger,' Farid says, and moves in closer on the driver's side. He then zooms the camera in toward where the headlight controls are usually located and reveals the strange fix.
'Got a valve stem for his headlight knob,' the mechanic exclaims. He then clicks it over a few times to show that the valve stem is completely functional as the headlight knob.
'I guess if it works, it works,' Farid says, while wondering how many people not in his profession would know what the valve stem really is.

Was the Fix a Bad Idea?
The video garnered over 11,000 views, and several viewers found the repair as unusual and amusing as Farid. However, they all seemed to agree with him, a fix that works, works.
'Improvise-adapt-overcome,' one person commented.
'Gotta fix it somehow and cheap,' another wrote.
The mechanic replied, saying that he somehow liked the valve stem even more than a normal knob.
Several mechanics also expressed their surprise in the comments section, while some also shared unusual things they had encountered on the job themselves.
'Forty years as a mechanic, never seen that,' one wrote.
'Ingenuity at its finest,' said another.
'I've seen someone actually take wood and use them for brake pads,' a third recounted.
Tips for Simple At-Home Car Repairs
A trip to the mechanic can quickly add up to hundreds of dollars in repairs. But there are a number of
fixes that car owners can do
safely and easily by themselves. These DIY maintenance checks ensure that their cars continue to run smoothly, while also saving drivers money.
Checking the engine's oil is a simple task, and doing so regularly can help catch major problems before they begin. Locate the oil dipstick and pull it out. Use a clean rag to wipe it off.
Reinsert the dipstick and remove it again. The level of the oil should be between the two markings on the stick. If the oil is too low, add the type of oil specified in the car's manual.
Check the engine's belts and hoses while looking at oil levels. If there are any leaks or strange noises, it might be a good idea to have the engine looked at by a professional. Once a month, it's also recommended to check the car's tire pressure.
Changing the cabin filter, cleaning battery terminals, and replacing wiper blades are other simple tasks that car owners can do by themselves. However, if the car's check engine light comes on, or if it requires a more complicated repair like brake or transmission fixes, it's best to call a professional mechanic to do the job.

With a 120bhp Rover engine and Ariel's now-iconic exposed tubular space frame, it embodied an entirely fresh vision: extreme lightness, ultra-minimalist design, and a thrilling, highly configurable driving experience. The 'No Doors, No Windscreen, No Roof' ethos made the Atom a true driver's machine and helped cement its legend among purists. The second-generation Atom switched to Honda power, adopting the high-revving 220bhp Civic Type R K20 engine. From 2005, Ariel offered an optional supercharger pushing power to 275bhp, adding another level of performance, and introducing that unforgettable supercharger whine. Engineering and design updates further refined what was already a visceral driving experience. The Atom 3 brought a significant overhaul. A revised chassis, upgraded suspension, and updated bodywork made the car even more capable. Standard output rose to 245bhp, while a supercharged option lifted power to 300bhp. In 2010, Ariel built a very special edition: the Atom V8. This 25-car limited run boasted up to 500bhp and a spine-tingling 10,000rpm redline, taking the Atom philosophy to the extreme. Refining the Atom 3 platform, the Atom 3.5 improved engine management, steering, suspension, and bodywork, while retaining the same fundamental chassis. A year later, the even more hardcore 3.5R arrived with 367bhp, a sequential gearbox, and further suspension upgrades, cementing the Atom's place as a benchmark for raw, lightweight performance. Every part of the Atom was reimagined for the Atom 4, apart from the fuel filler cap, steering wheel, and pedals. As the first turbocharged Atom, it utilized a 2.0-liter Honda Civic Type R engine, producing 320bhp with switchable boost, and was backed by a stiffer chassis, advanced geometry, and adjustable driver aids, including traction control and launch control. With a stunning power-to-weight ratio and exceptional handling, the Atom 4 raised the bar for lightweight, road- and track-oriented sports cars. In 2023, Ariel further advanced the Atom 4 platform with the introduction of the 4R. Continuous turn lane project on SH 34 set for July 14 start
PARIS – A roadway improvement project on State Highway 34 in Hunt County is set to begin this month, Texas Department of Transportation officials announced Wednesday. The $4.1 million project will add a continuous left-turn lane between Traders Road and Farm-to-Market Road 1570 on SH 34. The construction will include culvert extensions, roadway widening, pavement overlay and new striping, TxDOT said. Baker & Company Construction LLC has been given 144 working days to complete the job, weather permitting. The contractor is scheduled to begin setting up barricades and message boards Monday to alert drivers of upcoming construction. Work is expected to begin the following Monday, with a target completion date of February 2026. Lane closures are expected throughout the duration of the project.

Forza Motorsport Could Be in Trouble Following Microsoft Layoffs
It might be the end of an era for racing fans. Microsoft has allegedly slashed the staff at Turn 10 Studios, the developer behind the Forza Motorsport video game franchise. It's unclear how many people the studio laid off, but reports indicate that nearly half the staff has been let go. The Verge is reporting that around 70 people were fired, and it's unclear how this will affect future installments of the Forza Motorsport franchise. The studio launched the franchise's latest installment in 2023, simply named Forza Motorsport , for the Xbox Series X/S and PC. It garnered tepid reviews , with some disliking parts of the game's newer elements, like the RPG-style progression system, which the studio attempted to address.
