No entry for two-wheelers, ricks, tractors on key e-ways in Gurgaon
The restrictions — which follow directions from NHAI — requiring listed vehicles to use service roads took effect on Wednesday.
NHAI's directions were aimed at preventing accidents on the two major expressways. On Wednesday, the traffic police initiated a challaning drive against violators and installed new warning and sign boards.

The speed limit for cars is 80kmph, while trucks must adhere to a 60kmph limit on NH8.
Traffic police said bikes, scooters, tractors, e-rickshaws, three-wheelers, e-carts, multi-axle hydraulic trailers, quadricycles and non-motorised vehicles such as cycles are prohibited on these high-speed highways.
DCP (traffic) Rajesh Mohan said, "These are high-speed corridors where extra caution is necessary. The speed limit on National Highway NH8 and the expressway is higher and the speed of the aforementioned vehicles is relatively lower, which poses a risk of accidents and a constant threat of unfortunate incidents."

"We have conducted awareness interactions at key junctions along these routes under the supervision of ACP (Highways) Satyapal Yadav. The sign boards have been installed at key locations to inform restricted vehicles not to use these highways. We will start issuing challans rigorously," the DCP said.
Another police officer said the arrangement followed Punjab and Haryana high court's decision. "Someone filed a public interest litigation seeking restrictions on slow-moving vehicles that cause accidents on high-speed corridors.
After the concerned court asked NHAI to restrict their entry, a notification regarding the same was recently released. Upon being informed of this, traffic police initiated awareness drives and restricted the movement of these vehicles from June 25," a traffic police officer said.
The move will increase traffic volume on already overburdened service lanes, for which authorities are considering infrastructure enhancements.
Rohit Sharma, a resident, said the authorities first need to widen the service roads before restricting slow-moving vehicles on national highways. "Now there will be mad traffic on these service lanes," Sharma said.
Even when the two-wheelers are banned on the national highways, there are fewer checks causing frequent accidents.
Two men heading for work died after their bike crashed into a truck from behind on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway on June 16 morning in Faridabad.
Although two-wheelers are banned on the expressway due to speed differences with heavy vehicles, bikes and scooters are often found on the speedway in the absence of proper signboards or deployed police at entry points.
On April 10, a motorcyclist died after being hit by a car near Sector 64 in Faridabad. While Dinesh died, his friend Dharmender suffered grievous injuries as both fell 15 feet from a flyover onto the road below.
In Gurgaon, a Delhi Police head constable died and five others were injured on June 21 when a Rajasthan Roadways bus overturned while attempting to avoid hitting a car that had suddenly entered the Delhi-Jaipur highway from a service road. The accident occurred at the notorious Panchgaon Chowk, which has reported at least 10 deaths in the past three years.

Nashik To Akkalkot In Just 4 Hours? The Link On The Chennai-Surat Expressway Gets A Green Signal
Last Updated: Once complete, the travel time between Nashik and Akkalkot will drop from 9 hours to just 4 hours. The long-awaited Nashik–Akkalkot highway is finally set to roll out. After facing several delays, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has now decided to move forward with this key stretch under the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model. The final proposal has been submitted to the Centre, and tenders will be floated once it gets the green signal, as per Swarajya. Why Is This Highway So Important? The Nashik–Akkalkot corridor is part of the massive 1,271 km Chennai–Surat Expressway, which links six Indian states – Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu. This route connects major cities like Surat, Nashik, Solapur, and Tirupati, boosting trade and travel. The 374-km Nashik–Akkalkot stretch is considered one of the most vital segments of the expressway. It will have six lanes and will be built in two parts: Earlier, the project was floated under the hybrid annuity model but didn't take off due to technical and financial challenges. This led NHAI to adopt the BOT model instead, allowing private players to take a more active role. Now, with the Public-Private Partnership Appraisal Committee giving its nod, the project is back on track. How Will This Benefit Travellers? Once the road is ready, travel time between Nashik and Akkalkot will drop from nine hours to just four. And when the full expressway is complete, Nashik to Surat could be done in as little as two hours. Additionally, the route will connect to the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway at Navsari, providing better access to the national capital and strengthening transport links between the west and south of India. view comments Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. NEPMU restarts oil transportation to Mizoram after govt prod
1 2 Aizawl: The Guwahati-based North East Petroleum Mazdoor Union (NEPMU) has decided to restart oil transportation to Mizoram from Friday, following a direct request from the state govt, Mizoram home minister K Sapdanga said on Thursday. Sapdanga provided an update on the current fuel supply, stating that as of Thursday morning, 46 oil transporters were en route to Mizoram, carrying 3,60,600 litres of diesel and 2,73,000 litres of petrol. Additionally, trucks laden with 8,004 cylinders of cooking gas were also entering the state. "The transporters likely reconsidered their decision to suspend operations after witnessing the Mizoram government's commitment to the ongoing repairs of National Highway-306," Sapdanga said. He also expressed gratitude to the Zoram Drivers' Union, the Truck Drivers' Association and the Oil Tankers' Drivers' Association for not supporting the strike planned by the Guwahati-based transporters. Meanwhile, Mizoram PWD minister Vanlalhlana on Thursday said the ongoing repair work on NH-6, particularly the stretch from Sairang to Buichali and Kawnpui, was progressing steadily. Vanlalhlana himself was inspecting the repair works, accompanied by sports & youth services minister Lalnghinglova Hmar, MLA Lalchhuanthanga and other PWD officials, including engineer-in-chief H Zoramliana and chief engineer (roads) David Sapzova. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like No annual fees for life UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo They were overseeing the work alongside local residents of Kawnpui and Khamrang. The Minister emphasized that these highways were crucial for the state's economic lifeline and their delayed repairs have caused significant difficulties for the public. The repair work on NH-6 has been divided into three sections: section 1 from Sairang to Buichali, section 2 from Khamrang to Kawnpui-Aizawl, and section 3 from Kawnpui to Aizawl. BR Goyal Infrastructure, operating under the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), is managing the repairs, with close coordination from the Mizoram PWD. In recent days, PWD engineers, including Eddie Superintending Engineer, Highway Circle-I, Executive Engineers, and Junior Engineers, have been actively monitoring the repairs on the ground. The road works are essential, as previously, sections of the highway had fallen into disrepair, causing severe disruptions. Authorities also reported a recent operation to clear large boulders, involving 152 trips, and the deployment of towing trucks to clear vehicles stuck in difficult portions of the road. Despite the ongoing challenges posed by the road conditions, authorities have stressed that repairs are progressing well and are expected to be completed soon, alleviating the supply chain issues.
