Euro-Med: Gazans Now Have Less Space Than Guantanamo Detainees Amid Ongoing Genocide

DaysofPal – The Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor has revealed alarming new data showing that Palestinians in the Gaza Strip are now confined to less than 15% of the territory, around 55 square kilometers, leaving each individual with under 24 square meters of space. This is less than the space allocated per inmate at the U.S. military prison in Guantanamo Bay.
In a statement shared with SAFA, the organization said roughly 2.3 million Gazans are being crammed into a shrinking area under continuous Israeli bombardment, siege, and the near-total collapse of essential services, including food, water, shelter, and healthcare. Most are also blocked from returning to their original homes, which have either been destroyed or declared off-limits by Israeli forces.
Euro-Med described this situation as 'part of a deliberate Israeli policy constituting an act of genocide aimed at uprooting the population and erasing their physical and demographic presence.' The statement stressed that Israel's campaign in Gaza is no longer confined to destruction or mass killing—it amounts to an effort to erase the Strip and its people altogether.
The Monitor highlighted that more than 85% of Gaza's territory has been declared closed military zones, either through direct military occupation or forced evacuation orders. As a result, the entire population is effectively detained in what the organization called 'a massive internment camp,' with population densities in some areas—such as Al-Mawasi—reaching over 47,000 people per square kilometer, the highest anywhere in the world.
The human toll of this confinement is compounded by the catastrophic damage to infrastructure. Over 92% of homes have been destroyed or severely damaged, along with more than 80% of schools and 90% of hospitals. All universities in the Strip have been completely demolished. Israeli forces are reportedly removing rubble and transporting it into Israel, further obstructing any possibility of rebuilding or return.
The statement classified mass displacement and destruction as both war crimes and crimes against humanity, particularly given the absence of military necessity and the failure to provide protection or humane alternatives.
Euro-Med urged the international community to recognize that what is happening in Gaza is not an evacuation—it is 'a systematic erasure of an entire people.'
The organization called for immediate and meaningful global action to halt the genocide. This includes imposing sanctions on the Israeli government, facilitating unrestricted humanitarian access, and launching criminal investigations and prosecutions targeting those responsible for war crimes.
The Monitor further called on countries with universal jurisdiction to issue arrest warrants for Israeli political and military leaders implicated in the atrocities and to initiate legal proceedings in line with international obligations.
Finally, the statement urged the International Criminal Court (ICC) to expedite its investigations into Israeli crimes in Gaza, explicitly including genocide and forced displacement within its mandate, and to expand its list of arrest warrants to hold all perpetrators accountable.

30 Palestinians Killed Overnight in Escalating Israeli Attacks Across Gaza

DayofPal– At least 30 Palestinians were killed since midnight in a wave of deadly Israeli airstrikes and artillery shelling targeting multiple areas across the Gaza Strip. The attacks, which spanned from the north to the south of the besieged territory, primarily hit residential homes, civilian gatherings, and displacement camps, according to local health officials and eyewitnesses. In northern Gaza, Israeli warplanes carried out a series of intense airstrikes on Jabalia town, while artillery targeted the town's eastern outskirts. Heavy drone presence and continued aerial bombardment were reported throughout the northern region. In Gaza City, Israeli forces demolished several residential buildings in the eastern Al-Zaytoun neighborhood, coinciding with artillery fire on Al-Zaytoun and Al-Tuffah neighborhoods. Airstrikes also targeted Al-Shawa Square in Al-Daraj and areas near Al-Shamaa in the city's south. One of the deadliest attacks occurred in Deir Al-Balah, in central Gaza, where Israeli forces bombed a crowd of displaced Palestinians waiting in line to receive nutritional supplements for children. The strike killed 13 people, mostly women and children. Another airstrike hit the central area of the city near Al-Tayyara roundabout. In Al-Bureij refugee camp, two brothers, Mohammad and Hussein Samir Abu Jild, their sister and a wife of them, were killed when their home was bombed. A separate strike on another Abu Jild family home in the same area caused further deaths and injuries. In nearby Al-Nuseirat camp, one Palestinian was killed and others wounded when a home belonging to the Thabet family was hit. Southern Gaza was also subject to intense bombardment, particularly in Khan Younis. Tanks shelled tents sheltering displaced families in the Al-Maslakh area, while drones dropped gas canisters, leading to dozens of suffocation cases. Gunfire was also reported at Al-Rahma camp in western Khan Younis, alongside airstrikes on the Al-Batan Al-Samin and Western Camp districts. In the eastern area of Bani Suheila, seven members of the Abu Shab family, including children and women, were killed in a strike on Al-Bursh School, which was housing displaced civilians. In another attack, a child named Hassan Mohammad Lafi was killed in an airstrike, joining his father who was killed a year earlier. Child Yousef Hassan Al-Amour also succumbed to injuries sustained in a prior airstrike on a civilian vehicle near Asdaa Junction. Israeli airstrikes further hit homes belonging to the Arefa, Qannan, and Mukhaimer families in the Western Camp area near Al-Shafi'i Mosque. Artillery shelling around Bir 19 in the Al-Mawasi area west of Khan Younis killed four displaced persons, while two others from the Zorab family died in a similar strike west of Rafah. Since the beginning of the war on October 7, 2023, Israel, backed by the U.S. administration, has been accused of committing genocide in Gaza, with ongoing mass killings, destruction of infrastructure, forced displacement, and deliberate starvation of the population. The war has led to over 195,000 Palestinians killed or injured, the majority of whom are women and children. More than 10,000 remain missing, and hundreds of thousands have been displaced amid a worsening famine that has already claimed the lives of dozens of children. Shortlink for this post:

Save the Children Severs Ties with BCG Over Role in Gaza Displacement Plans

DayofPal – Save the Children International has terminated its long-standing relationship with the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), citing the firm's involvement in controversial Gaza-related projects that include plans to forcibly relocate Palestinians and militarize aid operations. In an internal email to staff on 8 July, CEO Inger Ashing referenced explosive revelations by the Financial Times about BCG's role in designing and launching the so-called Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), a project widely condemned by humanitarian groups for serving Israeli war aims and undermining independent relief coordination in Gaza. 'The modelling of a plan to forcibly relocate Palestinians from Gaza and the calculation of a per-person cost for displacement, devoid of any humanity, disregards fundamental rights and dignity and raises serious ethical and legal questions,' Ashing wrote. The Financial Times investigation, published Sunday, revealed that BCG signed a multimillion-dollar contract to develop the GHF, which is backed by both the US and Israeli governments. The report found that more than a dozen BCG employees worked on the project over seven months, including top-level executives in the company's risk and social impact sectors. The project included comprehensive financial modeling for rebuilding Gaza after the war, with a focus on relocating more than 500,000 Palestinians. One proposed scenario involved offering displaced Gazans a 'resettlement package' of $9,000 per person, with the assumption that roughly 75 percent of them would not return. The idea of calculating a 'cost per displaced person' has sparked outrage among human rights organizations. For Save the Children, which has operated in Gaza for decades, this crossed a red line. 'Such actions are incompatible with our values,' Ashing told staff. 'There can be no neutrality when basic human dignity is on the line.' The GHF has also come under fire for its reliance on armed security contractors. According to the FT, BCG assisted in establishing ties between the foundation and a U.S. private security firm tasked with protecting GHF aid sites, raising alarm over the militarization of humanitarian space in a war zone. Critics warn that GHF, positioned as an alternative to UN relief coordination in Gaza, not only erodes international humanitarian standards but also enables policies of forced displacement under the guise of aid. Save the Children's move to sever ties with BCG marks one of the most significant breaks between the humanitarian sector and corporate consultancies accused of facilitating Israeli and U.S. objectives in the war on Gaza. 'Any involvement in planning or supporting the displacement of Palestinian civilians is a betrayal of the very principles that define humanitarianism,' Ashing stated. 'We will not be complicit.' UN Rapporteur: Torture against Palestinian Prisoners Has Become Widespread

DaysofPal—Francesca Albanese, the UN Special Rapporteur on the occupied Palestinian territories, stated on Wednesday that torture and rape against Palestinian detainees have become widespread and systematic in Israeli prisons since October 7, 2023. In a tweet on her official X account, Albanese confirmed that Palestinian prisoners have been subjected to rape and sexual violence, noting that the documented gang rape at Sde Teiman detention center is not an isolated case—it's part of a pattern. She emphasized that these violations against Palestinian detainees amount to acts of genocide, adding that it is time to build a new global system following the collapse of the Western-led moral order. Albanese also called on three European countries to clarify their decision to provide a 'safe air corridor' for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu—who is wanted by the International Criminal Court for war crimes—during his visit to Washington, despite the ongoing crimes committed by his far-right government against Palestinians, which she said constitute war crimes. On November 21, 2024, the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu for committing war crimes and crimes against humanity against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. Earlier this month, the European Commission stated that it supports the ICC and that all EU member states are obligated to execute arrest warrants issued against Netanyahu. Shortlink for this post:
