
Man dies after allegedly being hit by car performing burnouts near Kurri Kurri
A car doing burnouts allegedly hit and killed a man in the Hunter Valley overnight.
Emergency services were called to a fire trail off Haul Road, Stockrington, 22 kilometres east of Kurri Kurri, at about midnight on Sunday, June 29, after reports of a crash.
NSW Police were told that a modified Ford Fairmont sedan was performing a burnout when it hit three people before driving from the scene.
A 53-year-old man suffered critical head injuries and died a short time later.
Two women, who were also reportedly hit by the car, left the scene before emergency services arrived.
The sedan alleged to be involved was found burnt out on McFarlanes Road, Chisholm, about 2.40am.
Police have seized the vehicle and will undergo forensic examination.
Police have established a crime scene at both locations, and detectives have started an investigation into the incident.
Detectives were hoping to speak to the driver of the Ford, or anyone else who witnessed the incident, or who may have mobile phone or dashcam vision relevant to the investigation.

Six teenage boys arrested after police pursue stolen car
Six teenage boys have been arrested after a 5km car chase across Sydney's southwest. Officers tried to pull over a reported-stolen hatchback in Erskineville in the early hours of Sunday morning, but the driver allegedly failed to stop. Police pursued the vehicle from Erskineville Rd to Botany Rd in Mascot, where the car careened into a pole. Six teenage boys – five aged 14 and one aged 15 – fled from the vehicle, police allege. All boys were found nearby after a police helicopter was flown into assist. The 14-year-old driver was treated by paramedics at the scene and taken to Sydney Children's Hospital in a stable condition. The other passenger were also taken to hospital as a precaution, and all six remain under police guard. The car had initially been reported stolen some time between Friday and Saturday. After searching the stolen hatchback police found a balaclava, gloves and mobile phones, all of which will be examined further. Police are investigating the incident and have asked anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.
