Long-awaited Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab is open for stays from March 14. Promising elevated stays in an oceanic-inspired setting, the property is set in perfectly landscaped gardens and will house an array of room categories with balconies, pampering Talise spa and gourmet restaurants. A fine dining collection of almost a dozen places to drink and dine will include a sleek new steakhouse, The Cullinan; Japanese-Mediterranean fusion fare at Kira; and Kinugawa, a modern Izakaya that hails from the South of France. Opening this month at St Regis Gardens is Hanu, a new homegrown concept from Sunset Hospitality – the culinary creators behind Signor Sassi, Sushisamba and Mott 32 in Dubai. While the city may be saturated with Italian, Japanese and Mediterranean restaurants, Hanu promises a new take on contemporary Korean cuisine, a largely untapped market in Dubai's dining scene. At the culinary helm, chef Kyung Soo Moon, responsible for making Sushisamba one of Dubai's most talked-about dining destinations, who promises to present bold takes on Korean classics. Tables featuring charcoal grills will allow for interactive dining, where guests can grill their own meat to order.

Started by influencer Emily Oberg a decade ago, Sporty & Rich is the elevated athleisure brand inspired by the images of the jet-set enjoying sporting pursuits from the 80s and 90s. Graphic logos and slogans adorn soft cotton pieces that include hoodies and sweats and sports and tees, ideally for dressing up or down. You've been able to shop Sporty & Rich at Bloomingdales online for some time, but you can also visit the brand's cafe and pop-up at Bloomingdales Dubai Mall for a limited time.

The emporium of all things fitness and wellness in Al Quoz is teaming up with chic Verde Beach to offer new yoga classes by the beach every Tuesday and Sunday. Wake up with a session so serious stretching backdropped by Burj Al Arab views and the sounds of the gently lapping waves with a 9am class on the beach. You'll need to bring your own mat and water, and can stick around afterwards for a healthy breakfast of avo toast or an acai bowl with coffee or healthy juices (paid separately). Burj Al Arab's first ever Ramadan tent, Al Dina, promises to be a dazzling setting for iftar this Holy Month. A collection of three rotating iftar menus have been curated by chef Solayman Hasan, Al Iwan's head chef, and promise elevated Arabic cuisine laced with contemporary flair. Guests can look forward to live cooking stations serving chicken shawarmas and mixed seafood barbeques, plus regional dishes like vegetable tagine, chicken biriyani and veal harries.

Newly opened in Jumeirah is Plume, a two-floor space that's transformed a whitewashed villa into a beautifully zen wellness studio. On the ground floor, quiet spaces for relaxation and remote work feature alongside a Bali-inspired plunge pool and yoga studio, while upstairs, reformer Pilates classes take place in a lovely and bright studio. There's also a space for private Pilates classes and sports massage. Get your first class for AED89, then AED190 thereafter.

Saadiyat Nights may be over, but the beautiful open-air venue in Abu Dhabi remains open this month for Layali Ramadan, a suhoor under the stars from 9pm to 3am. An array of dining options have been arranged for visitors to enjoy treats from Lento, Aptitude cafe, Glaze Bakehouse and more, as well as being able to shop at a souk-like experience and enjoy local performances and games. On weekends, activities like calligraphy and henna offer more local flavour.

For two weekends this Ramadan Alserkal Avenue presents Interrupting Patterns. Expect live performances at The Yard, a tatreez circle where guests can stitch their own stories at Kave, special screenings at Cinema Akil, plus there's creative workshops for writing, illustration and photography. It's happening 8pm to midnight both weekends.

An Ibiza icon is reawakened with a touch of Dubai magic as two iconic hospitality brands come together for the reimagined Destino FIVE Ibiza The story After creating its own league of high-octane hedonism, gourmet dining, and lifestyle-driven hotel stays in Dubai, FIVE Hotels & Resorts acquired Ibiza's Pacha Group in October 2023. This strategic expansion saw the Dubai-born hospitality brand snap up some of Ibiza's most renowned icons, including Pacha nightclub, El Hotel Pacha, and Destino. While much of the Pacha-branded parts have remained the same, over winter 2024/25 Destino – the adults-only hilltop escape in Cap Martinet on the island's east coast – has been transformed into Destino FIVE Ibiza, lacing Destino's legacy and FIVE's signature enigmatic touch into a new era for the hotel. Just days after opening, we checked in to check it out. The stay We're greeted at check-in into a beautifully bold and modern lobby, flooded with natural light thanks to French doors lining either side, their blinds billowing in the welcome island breeze. To our left, the iconic Pacha shop and hostess desk for Playa Pacha – suitably adorned with a melted disco ball. To the other, check-in desks manned by friendly staff, many of whom are born and raised on the island, and all eager to welcome us. We're greeted with a welcome drink of hierbas, a local island spirit, and quickly shown to our room. Guest rooms are dotted throughout beautifully whitewashed casitas nestled within the hotel grounds. Some offer prime views of Playa Pacha's inviting swimming pool – ideal if you want to be in the heart of the action. Our own room is nestled within the grounds, set a little further back to evoke a sense of boho-chic serenity. Inside the room, crisp linen sheets and spongy mattresses ensure that, no matter how many (or few) hours of sleep you get, they're deep and restorative. A circular mirror above the bed and a not-so-mini minibar stocked with premium liquor are standout features that lean into the brand's hedonistic reputation. FIVE Hotels' eco effort is a welcome addition throughout, with plastic bottles replaced with recyclable Pacha water cans, and all the bathroom amenities are plastic-free. FIVE's fluffy dressing gowns are the perfect accessory for getting ready for a night out, and a smart TV with Chromecast allows us to choose the soundtrack to each evening with ease. The dining While FIVE may have created its brand around high-octane events, it must also be credited for its impressive culinary offering. At Destino FIVE Ibiza, that translates into Cielo all-day dining restaurant and Playa Pacha, a luxe poolside spot where vibrant beats and Mediterranean flavours backdrop sun-drenched days under the Balearic sun. We spend lazy mornings at Cielo, where soulful acoustic sets and an in-house magician are welcome surprise additions to breakfasts of fresh fruits, baked pastries and cherry sweets (an ode to the iconic Pacha symbol) from the continental buffet, and a la carte omelettes and acai bowls. Balmy Balearic afternoons are best enjoyed under the dappled shade of a cabana gazing out to the Mediterranean, or in the heart of the action with a lounger by the DJ booth at Playa Pacha. We sip glasses of Cava sangria, graze on fresh sushi rolls, Padron peppers and tempura shrimp, and listen to resident DJs that play high-octane sets right until the sun starts to set. The verdict Bringing together the best bits from two renowned brands creates a stay that curates the perfect balance of thrill and chill. Room rates start from Dhs1,840. @destinofiveibiza_ The new spots Clap House A new lifestyle experience that's newly touched down on the white isle for summer 2025 is Clap House. A first-of-its-kind beach club iteration of the acclaimed Japanese restaurant, it brings with it alfresco dining, beach club imbibing and holistic wellness to a serene setting in Talamanca. Dubai-born SEVEN are behind the fitness and wellness spaces, while at the inviting pool and signature CLAP restaurant guests can look forward to luxurious and gourmet experiences under the beating Balearic sun. @claphouseibiza UNVRS Ravers in the 80s and 90s will know it as Ku Klub, while those who hit it up between the early noughties and pre-Covid will know it as Privilege. Renowned Emirati artist, broadcaster Razika passes away at 71
The esteemed Emirati artist Razika Al Taresh, one of the pioneering female media figures in the UAE, has passed away at the age of 71. Known for her impactful contributions to the artistic landscape, she leaves behind a legacy of memorable works in television and theatre. Emirati artist Habib Ghuloum mourned her passing on his Instagram account, writing: "Our colleague, the esteemed artist Razika Al Taresh, has passed away. May Allah Al Mighty have mercy on you, Umm Saif, and forgive you. Our heartfelt condolences to her family and the artistic community in the UAE.' Razika had been battling health issues for an extended period, with Habib Ghuloum previously calling for prayers for her recovery in 2024. Considered a trailblazer in Emirati media, Razika began her career in 1969 as a radio presenter on Abu Dhabi Radio. In the 1970s, she transitioned to acting, starring in numerous television series, plays, and films. One of her most iconic roles was "Mitha" in the popular series "Ashhafan.' Her theatrical works include "Allah Ya Al Dunya," "Al Sabr Zein," and "Tib Al Awal Tahawul." In cinema, she appeared in three films: "Eqab," "Al-Khitba," and "Dhill." Additionally, she contributed to the world of writing through several works. Tributes continue to pour in for the iconic actress and beloved national figure.
