Egypt: Canal Shipping Agencies logs 65% YoY higher profits in H1 FY2024/25
Sales hit EGP 62.01 million at the end of December 2024, up 22% year-on-year (YoY) from EGP 50.76 million.
In the first quarter (Q1) of FY2024/25, Canal Shipping Agencies posted 136.84% YoY higher net profits after tax at EGP 33.325 million, compared to EGP 14.071 million.
The EGX-listed firm is a Holding Company for Maritime and Land Transport's subsidiary that provides marine port services and shipping services to international commercial fleets.
The company operates four agencies: Asswan Shipping Agency, Assuit Shipping Agency, El Menia Shipping Agency, and Damanhour Shipping Agency.

Egypt: EGX ends Sunday's session with positive performance
Arab Finance: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) ended Sunday's session with collective gains after the EGX30 index went up by 0.22% to 3,4272.16 points. Likewise, the Sharia-compliant index, EGX33 Shariah, rose by 0.41% to 3,510.62 points. Both the EGX70 index and the EGX100 index finished the session higher by 0.22% at 3,730.28 points and by 0.85% at 10,312.08 points, respectively. EGX's turnover reached EGP 3.913 billion through the exchange of 1.424 billion shares in 102,764 transactions, while the market cap hit EGP 2.407 trillion. The Egyptian investors controlled 86.56% of the trading transactions, while the Arab and foreign traders accounted for 11.11% and 2.33%, respectively. Individuals took over 79.7% of the total trading, while the institutions equaled 20.29%. Arab and foreign investors were sellers with EGP 115.112 million and EGP 83.397 million, respectively. USD/EGP exchange rates drop at Egyptian banks
Arab Finance: The USD exchange rate to EGP plunged on Sunday, hitting EGP 48.62 for buying and EGP 48.72 for selling at Banque Misr at 12:02 PM. It recorded EGP 48.59 for purchasing and EGP 48.69 for selling at the Commercial International Bank Egypt (CIB). At the National Bank of Egypt (NBE), the US dollar traded at EGP 48.6 for purchasing and EGP 48.7 for selling at 2:13 PM.
