BBC EastEnders star breaks silence after on-screen soap exit
The actress' exit marks the final nail in the coffin for the Taylor family, who have now all left the show.
Breaking her silence on the exit, she said the role, which she first took on in 2017, was the "best" and that it "changed my life".
Bernie left on screen alongside her cousin, Felix Baker, after a theft storyline played out.
It was revealed Bernie had been stealing from the Panesars, and despite them trying to catch her in the act, she was already planning to leave to avoid facing any consequences.
After packing her bags, she and Felix left in a taxi to leave Walford.
Following the exit playing out on screen, Norris took to social media to post a heartfelt message and goodbye to EastEnders.
She said: "My last ep airs tonight and with that comes a flood of memories.
"EastEnders was my first audition, and my first job. Having come from college and having no experience in this industry, Julia, Wayne and Sean all took a chance on me to play Bernadette Taylor and for that, I can't be thankful enough.
"Eight years later and honestly, this job has changed my life.
A post shared by Clair Hayley Norris (@clair_norris)
"It's true what they all said at the beginning, EastEnders is one big family & I'm so lucky to have met and worked with some amazing people.
"I will always have an attachment to Bernie, she represents so many girls out there who wear their hearts of their sleeves and don't quite fit in…no offence to anyone who wears purple coats.
"I have adored playing her and she will forever hold a special place in my heart. This has been the best first role ever."
A number of EastEnders co-stars have wished the actress well after posting her farewell message on social media.
Lorraine Stanley, who played Bernie's mum Karen Taylor in the BBC soap from 2017 to 2024, said: "It was an honour to play your Mum. You're Amazing!!.
"Wishing you all the best! Love you lots."
Goodbye Clair and Bernie! Always bringing both the tears and the laughter, she's been a brilliant resident of Albert Square - we'll miss you dearly! ❤️ #EastEnders pic.twitter.com/UwJrWzqdeG
Balvinder Sopal, who plays Suki Panesar-Unwin, said: "An absolute honour to have shared the screen with you, Claire. You are phenomenal!!.
"Here's to you and all the brilliant things about to come your way."
Navin Chowdhry, who is Nish Panesar, said: "You've been brilliant Claire! What an exciting journey ahead!!"
Molly is not the only star to leave the show this year.
Bobby Brazier is leaving popular BBC soap EastEnders after four years.
Molly Rainford, known for playing Queen Vic barmaid Anna Knight on the BBC soap, will also be leaving.
One of the biggest departures of the year was Natalie Cassidy, who played Sonia Fowler in EastEnders, and left the show after 32 years.

Speaking about her exit, she said: 'It felt very final but also very good. It's a nice place to leave Sonia after so much has happened to her.
'Sonia feels like she's never going to live down what happened with Reiss, so the only thing to do is leave the Square.
'I'm never going to say goodbye to her because, after 32 years, Sonia is ingrained in me. So, while I'm saying goodbye on screen, for now, Sonia is always there, knocking about!'

Danny Dyer and Louis Tomlinson among famous faces at Oasis' Cardiff comeback
Friday, July 4, 2025, will go down as one of the biggest nights in British music history as Oasis graced a live stage for the first time in 16 years. The Mancunian Britpop heroes formed in Burnage in the early 1990s and quickly became—for better or worse—the defining band of their generation. But singer-songwriter brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher had a famously frosty relationship, and the band shockingly split when Noel quit in August 2009. After waging a cold war in the press for more than a decade, the two siblings kissed and made up in 2024 and announced a string of live dates for summer 2025. The Oasis Live 25 Tour kicked off in Cardiff on Friday night, with the 75,000 tickets sold at the Principality Stadium among the hottest in the world right now. But it's not just regular folks who've descended on the Welsh capital for a bit of the action—half a dozen famous faces have been spotted in the crowd as well. 📝| 'Louis is a huge Oasis fan and has been extremely open about failing to secure tickets in the queue. He's said to have found himself on tonight's guestlist, which promises to be one of the most exciting concerts in music history.'— The Mirror can reveal that the cheeky… — World Tomlinson (@LouisWT91World) July 4, 2025 The first to pop up was This Is England actress Vicky McClure, who joined the BBC's live coverage of the build-up to the Oasis gig and then went to grab a spot in the crowd. From the BBC itself, Radio 2 host Vernon Kay popped along, despite being called a 'lanky b*****d' by Liam Gallagher himself during a tense meeting between the two years ago. And MailOnline photographers spotted Gavin & Stacey star Rob Brydon in the crowd, with the Welsh actor not having to go too far from home to see his musical heroes. But stealing the headlines were none other than actor Danny Dyer, who was spotted in Cardiff earlier on Friday, and former One Direction singer Louis Tomlinson. Danny opted for dark sunglasses and a moustache to keep his identity a secret, but fans still managed to spot him walking along a road near the stadium. He was seen wearing a smart casual navy blue jacket as he walked alongside a friend (or bodyguard), with hundreds of onlookers none the wiser. And reports in The Mirror earlier today speculated that Walls hitmaker and Oasis superfan Louis had managed to secure himself a spot on the guest list. Louis had apparently tried and failed, along with thousands of others, to get his hands on those prized tickets earlier last year when they went on sale. He said at the time: 'I didn't [get tickets]. I was in the queue, but I never got a number. I did try. I did try. I have my fingers crossed.' Fellow musician Serge Pizzorno—of the Leicester-based rock band Kasabian—was also apparently spotted by reports, with Kasabian owing a lot to the Manchester band. Everton FC's manager, Sean Dyche, also sat on the BBC's sofa outside the Principality Stadium before taking his place among the thousands witnessing history. And it seems he set a bit of a trend, as fellow Premier League boss Nuno Espirito Santo, in charge at Nottingham Forest, was also rumoured by The Sun to be in attendance on Friday. At the gig, Oasis rolled back the years by playing some of their biggest hits, with some fans in Cardiff reckoning Liam sounded 'biblical' and better than ever. @ShaneRyanOneil exclaimed: 'Liam hasn't sounded this good in years. Biblical,' while @Jahvasconcelos said: 'Liam's voice sounds absolutely BIBLICAL. Unbeliveable.' More Trending The two brothers held hands as they walked onto the stage in Cardiff, with their gesture being greeted by huge cheers from the over 70,000-strong crowd. Bang on 8:15pm, Noel and Liam launched into their tune Hello, which opened their second album (What's the Story) Morning Glory? all those years ago. After this, they went into Acquiesce – which originally appeared as the B-side to Oasis' first number-one single Some Might Say, in 1995. The words 'This is not a drill' appeared on the screen in giant letters, with the crowd—decked out in Mancunian bucket hats, sunglasses, and Oasis merch—sending cups flying by jumping in the air. Danny Dyer and Vicky McClure lead the way as Oasis reunite after 16 years
A string of famous faces have been spotted at Oasis' first reunion gig in Cardiff, the first time the brothers have been seen together on stage in 16 years A string of famous faces are in the crowds as Oasis reunites after 16 years. Tonight's gig in Cardiff marks over a decade since Noel and Liam Gallagher performed with one another. The band were seen walking to the stage with their song 'F**king in the Bushes' before they then started performing their song 'Hello'. The crowd welcomed them with cheers at the sold out gig. In the audience was the likes of EastEnders star Danny Dyer as well as Line Of Duty actress Vicky McClure. Vernon Kay also posed for pictures outside Principality Stadium. "Hey, beautiful people, it's been too long," Liam told the crowd, which has also included the likes of Glastonbury founder Emily Eavis as well as Dominic Mohan and Andy Goldstein. Click here for the Mirror's live updates on the Oasis tour. Meg Mathews - Noel's ex-wife - was also spotted at the gig, The Mirror can exclusively reveal. Noel and Meg's daughter Anais was also seen at the venue. Earlier today, Meg shared a string of snaps of her and Noel, writing alongside it: "TODAY IS THE DAY 4th July 2025 Finally here ….OASIS REUNION TOUR, Britpop was a British music and cultural movement that peaked in the mid-1990s, characterized by a revival of British guitar pop from the 1960s and 1970s, in contrast to American grunge. "It was not just a genre, but a reactionary and patriotic cultural response, celebrating British identity, working-class roots, and everyday life. To everyone who's there when they walk on the stage at 8.15pm will be a piece of history." Referencing the photo, she added: "That night was a lot of fun can't remember what after party gig it was .. back then there was always one which I was in charge of organising through @creationrecords money and fun had no limit back then." Meg had recently been forced to deny they were back together after she posted snaps of them kissing. During a 2020 interview with the Irish Mirror, Meg admitted she used to get terrible PTSD. She said: "I came through the marriage. Everything was public. At the end of the day I did not have the cog or the PR world that that person (Noel) had. "I was just the ex-wife. I had nobody. I didn't know what to do. I didn't have a press agent, wasn't famous, I just had a daughter. I used to get terrible PTSD. In 1997 I was the third most written about woman. It was Lady Diana, The Spice Girls and me." For those fans hoping to get a last minute ticket to Oasis' reunion gigs, the band are set to release a few final tickets. In a statement, they said: "As the shows are getting closer, Oasis promoters may be able to release a very limited number of additional tickets for sale once final sight lines are checked and the production is fine tuned. These final production releases will happen over the coming days."
