'Ronaldo Is No Longer 25 Years Old...': Algerian Coach Slams Al-Nassr's Tactics

Algerian coach Noureddine Zekri has emphasised that Al Nassr should build a strong attack around Cristiano Ronaldo.
Algerian coach Noureddine Zekri has said that while Cristiano Ronaldo is a top-notch goalscorer and is still at his very best even at 40 years old, Al Nassr need to realise that he isn't 25 and need to build a full-proof attack around him, rather than leaving Ronaldo to do the entire job.
Since joining Al Nassr in January 2023 as a free agent, Ronaldo is yet to win an official trophy at the club. Despite this, he has thrived, scoring 93 goals and 19 assists in 105 matches across all tournaments.
'The Portuguese star is a goalscorer and can finish off all attacks with great ease, despite his advanced age. Ronaldo is no longer 25 years old, so you can't ask him to perform defensive roles," Zekri said while speaking on the On White podcast.
'He needs to build a system around him by having strong wingers and a strong midfield, and leave the task of scoring goals to him. Ronaldo, without the full support of Al-Nassr's players, managed to win the top scorer award twice in a row, so the club must sign players who can serve him," Zekri added.
Al Nassr signed Jhon Duran from Aston Villa six months back for a transfer fee of £64 million, reportedly, to turn their season around.
Duran moved to Turkish team Fenerbahce on a season-long loan earlier this month.
Meanwhile, earlier this month, Hong Kong football fans queued for hours to snap pictures of Ronaldo's trophies and jerseys at an exhibition billed as the first of its kind outside the superstar's native Portugal.

Harmanpreet's Century, Gaud's 6-Fer Helps India Beat England, Clinch Series 2-1

Harmanpreet Kaur's 84-ball 102 and Kranti Gaud's 6/52 helped India beat England by 13 runs in the third ODI, clinching the series 2-1. A splendid 84-ball 102 from skipper Harmanpreet Kaur and a brisk fifty from Jemimah Rodrigues propelled India Women to 318/5 as Kranti Gaud starred with 6/52 to bowl out England by 13 runs in the third and final ODI to clinch the series 2-1 on Tuesday. Harmanpreet's fluent innings featured 14 boundaries and key partnerships, leading to her seventh ODI century overall and third against England. Despite Harmanpreet's efforts, India's score fell short of their highest ODI total against England, 333/5, achieved in September 2022 in Canterbury. What Record's Did Harmanpreet Break? Harmanpreet showcased her skills particularly on the off-side, hitting most of her boundaries there, with a few driven down the ground and one behind the wicket. She formed crucial partnerships, adding 81 runs for the third wicket with Harleen Deol (45) and a rapid 110-run stand off 77 balls with Rodrigues, pushing India past the 300-run mark. Richa Ghosh then provided the finishing touches with a quickfire 38 off 18 balls, including three fours and two sixes, capping off an all-round performance for the visitors, who had earlier won the five-match T20I series. The foundation was laid by a solid 64-run opening stand between Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal. Mandhana played the aggressor, scoring 45 off 54 balls with five fours, while Rawal played a supporting role, making 26 off 33 balls with two boundaries. Mandhana's innings ended when she pulled a short and wide ball from Sophie Ecclestone straight to Sophia Dunkley at midwicket in the 18th over. Rawal was dismissed in the 13th over, edged behind to 'keeper Amy Jones off Charlie Dean, a decision confirmed on review. Rodrigues found her rhythm with three consecutive fours off Dean in the 41st over and two more in the next, but couldn't advance beyond her 45-ball 50, which included seven fours. Harleen Deol appeared set for a significant score before being bounced out by seamer Lauren Bell for 45 off 65 balls, hitting four boundaries. 2nd Youth Test, Day 3: England U19 In Control Despite Vihaan Malhotra's Century

Last Updated: Vihaan Malhotra's century couldn't prevent India U19 from struggling against Ralphie Albert's 6/53, as England led by 123 runs at the end of Day 3. Vihaan Malhotra scored a fluent century, but the India U19 batters struggled against left-arm spinner Ralphie Albert, allowing England to gain the upper hand after Day 3 of the second four-day Youth Test on Tuesday. Malhotra (120 off 123 balls) and Ayush Mhatre (80 off 90 balls) fought valiantly for India, but they were bowled out for 279 in their first innings, conceding a lead of 30 runs. By the end of the day, England were at 93 without loss in their second innings, with an overall lead of 123 runs. Adam Thomas (50 not out) and BJ Dawkins (42 not out) were at the crease. What Happened In India Vs England, Youth Test? India, overnight at 51 for one, looked poised to gain a substantial advantage as Malhotra, who resumed at 6, and Mhatre, starting from 24, added 133 runs for the second wicket in just over 24 overs. At 170 for 1, India seemed in control, but Mhatre's dismissal shifted the momentum. England, led by left-arm spinner Albert (6/53), placed the visitors under significant pressure. India briefly rebounded with a 61-run partnership for the fifth wicket between Malhotra and Harvansh Panglia (28). However, Albert decimated the Indian lineup, as they lost their last six wickets for just 37 runs. Brief scores: England U19: 309 all out and 93 for no loss in 25 overs vs India U19: 279 all out in 58.1 overs (Vihaan Malhotra 120, Ayush Mhatre 80; Ralphie Albert 6/53). view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Rain Can't Stop Sai Sudharsan From Shadow Batting Ahead Of 4th Test

Last Updated: Sai Sudharsan practices batting in the rain at Old Trafford ahead of the fourth Test in Manchester. Sai Sudharsan was spotted going through the motions of batting at the crease even as rain poured down at Old Trafford Stadium in Manchester. India trail England 1-2, ahead of the fourth Test of the five-match series for the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. As India gears up for the crucial Test in Manchester, all attention will be on captain Shubman Gill and his reliance on pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah. Bumrah's ability to turn games with short, sharp spells could be pivotal. With Akash Deep and Nitish Kumar Reddy out due to injuries, India is likely to bring back B. Sai Sudharsan at No. 3, while Prasidh Krishna or uncapped sensation Anshul Kamboj might be considered as the third seamer. Kamboj made headlines last Ranji season by taking all ten wickets in an innings. The conditions may also favour seam-bowling all-rounder Shardul Thakur over off-spinner Washington Sundar. India's batting unit blends youth, determination, and current form. Yashasvi Jaiswal remains consistent, KL Rahul returns to open, and Gill leads the side from No. 4. However, Rishabh Pant's form is under scrutiny. After a costly mistake at Lord's and a courageous, injury-hit knock, the wicketkeeper-batter has had time to recover, but his fitness and mindset remain uncertain heading into the Test. India has previously come back from 0-2 deficits—in 1974-75 and 1977-78—but lost both deciders. This Test offers a chance to change history. England, on the other hand, knows they've only once failed to convert a 2-0 lead into a series win—back in 1936–37 when Don Bradman led a remarkable comeback. Ben Stokes returns fresh after a brief break and leads a battle-hardened England side. Jofra Archer impressed with genuine pace despite limited game time over the past four years. With Shoaib Bashir sidelined by injury, Liam Dawson returns to the Test fold after eight years, buoyed by strong domestic form—three ten-wicket hauls and 12 five-fors since 2021. Zak Crawley continues to evolve; once a fearless stroke-maker, he now shows discipline, though his average is dipping. Joe Root, ever-reliable, is nearing Ricky Ponting's all-time run tally, needing just 120 more to become the second-highest run-getter in Test history. The Manchester pitch promises bounce and pace, but early showers on days one and two could impact proceedings.
