'Minecraft Movie' anthem 'Steve's Lava Chicken' makes history as the shortest song to chart on the Billboard Hot 100
The 34-second track from A Minecraft Movie has debuted at No. 77 on the Billboard Hot 100, setting a new record as the shortest song ever to chart on the prestigious list.
The song, co-written by Black and the film's director Jared Hess, features whimsical lyrics and sound effects of sizzling lava and clucking chickens.
It humorously explores what happens when lava meets chicken, complete with playful lyrics and sound effects like chicken bawking and sizzling.
"Steve's Lava Chicken" also reached No. 10 on the Hot Rock Songs chart.
The song breaks the previous shortest-charting record held by Kid Cudi's 37-second "Beautiful Trip."
Other short songs that have broken the Hot 100 include "Pen-Pineapple-Apple-Pen" by Piko-Taro (45 seconds), "Little Boxes" by The Womenfolk (one minute and two seconds), "Deck the Halls" by Nat King Cole (one minute and six seconds), and "Pete Davidson" by Ariana Grande (one minute and 13 seconds).
Black co-wrote the track with director Jared Hess, and it's produced by longtime collaborator John Spiker.
It marks Black's second Hot 100 entry, following "Peaches" from The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which peaked at No. 56 in 2023.
"Steve's Lava Chicken" is one of four tracks Black contributed to the film's soundtrack, including "Birthday Rap" with Jason Momoa and "I Feel Alive" featuring Dave Grohl.
The top-billed track, "I Feel Alive," features Foo Fighters lead singer Dave Grohl on drums, Queens of the Stone Age's Troy Van Leeuwen on guitar, and Jellyfish's Roger Joseph Manning Jr. on keys.
Following its debut on April 4, A Minecraft Movie has become a commercial bombshell, grossing over $800 million worldwide.
Starring Black, Jason Momoa, Emma Myers, Jennifer Coolidge, Sebastian Eugene Hansen, and Danielle Brooks, the film follows a brother and sister as they team up with a legendary crafter named Steve to save the world of Minecraft from an evil sorceress.

Disney's ‘Lilo & Stitch' Becomes 2025's highest grossing MPA Film with $957M+ worldwide, overtaking ‘A Minecraft Movie'
Disney's Lilo & Stitch has overtaken Warner Bros and Legendary's A Minecraft Movie to become the highest grossing MPA film of 2025 so far, reaching $957.6 million worldwide and $553.9 million internationally. A Minecraft Movie has achieved $954.9 million globally, with $530.9 million from international markets. Both titles are currently the only films this year to surpass the $900 million mark at the global box office. Now in its sixth week of release, Lilo & Stitch, directed by Dean Fleischer Camp, remains on track to potentially become the first Hollywood title of 2025 to cross the billion-dollar mark worldwide. While A Minecraft Movie retains the highest grossing position in the United States with $423.9 million, Lilo & Stitch follows closely with $403.7 million. Lilo & Stitch has performed particularly well across international markets, with top territories including Mexico ($66.1M), the UK ($47.1M), France ($39.8M), and Brazil ($36M). The film opened domestically to $182.6 million over the four-day Memorial Day weekend, marking the largest opening for that holiday period ahead of Top Gun Maverick. This live-action adaptation of the 2002 animated classic has benefited from the franchise's strong presence on Disney+, where the original film and series have amassed over 579 million viewing hours globally. Following the film's success, Disney has announced a live-action sequel to Lilo & Stitch, continuing the franchise's momentum at the box office.

Foo Fighters drop new single 'Today's Song' – an emotional reflection and recollection
Foo Fighters have dropped their latest track, "Today's Song," marking their first original music since the 2023 album But Here We Are. The release comes nearly two years after the band's last single and follows a challenging period for the group. It is their first music since the death of drummer Taylor Hawkins in 2022 and the departure of drummer Josh Freese earlier this year. "Today's Song" features a typically anthemic Foo Fighters sound, with frontman Dave Grohl reflecting on personal struggles and existential angst. Grohl sings, 'I woke today screaming for change,' capturing the band's journey of reinvention. The track is accompanied by artwork from Grohl's daughter, Harper. Grohl also shared a heartfelt message acknowledging the contributions of past band members, including Freese, who was replaced after Hawkins' death. Freese, who was let go in May, expressed disappointment over the split but stated he was "not angry." The band's lineup remains unchanged, with Grohl on vocals and guitar, alongside Nate Mendel, Pat Smear, Chris Shiflett, and Rami Jaffee. However, the drummer for the new single has not been revealed. Grohl's message also touched on the loss of Hawkins, stating, "Your name is spoken every day, sometimes with tears, sometimes with a smile, but you are still in everything we do." In a statement, Grohl referenced recent personal challenges, including his infidelity scandal, and explained that life's difficulties often signal the need for change and growth. The band plans to return to live performances this October, with several shows scheduled in Asia and Mexico. Earlier this week, the band released a cover of Minor Threat's 'I Don't Wanna Hear It,' recorded in 1995 with new vocals added this year.

Alex Warren continues chart momentum as Rosé duet gains radio traction
Alex Warren's single Ordinary remains at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 for a fourth consecutive week, supported by strong streaming numbers and widespread radio play. In parallel, his latest release On My Mind, a collaboration with BLACKPINK's Rosé, is beginning to chart its own course. The track, released on June 27, has been named the most-added song at Hot Adult Contemporary radio for the week, with 33 US stations adding it to their playlists, according to Mediabase. It is also scheduled to impact pop radio formats beginning July 1. On My Mind features acoustic instrumentation and dual vocals from Warren and Rosé, and serves as the third single from Warren's upcoming debut album, You'll Be Alright, Kid, which is slated for release on July 18. Warren gained attention earlier this year when Ordinary became his breakout hit. The track topped several major charts globally, including the Billboard Global 200 and UK Singles Chart, and has since received platinum certification. The new duet marks a continued expansion of his musical collaborations and genre reach. As both songs gain traction, Warren's upcoming album is expected to draw further interest upon its release.
