Tottenham Hotspur Are Keeping Tabs On This Bundesliga Forward: One For The Future?

Yahoo08-07-2025
In a recent report, The Sun mentioned that Tottenham Hotspur are keeping tabs on Mainz forward Nelson Weiper. It has been stated that Spurs would have to rival Brentford and West Ham United in the race to sign the German striker this off-season.
Weiper's Impressive Rise In German Football
Weiper managed to shine at times for the German club in the previous campaign when he put in a few impressive displays for them in the final third. The 20-year-old banged in four goals and grabbed two assists in 28 appearances for Mainz last season in all competitions.

The Germany international deserves a pat on the back for averaging 2.81 shots per 90 minutes in the Bundesliga. He kept 54.5% of his attempts on target. However, Weiper was a bit untidy when distributing possession in the opponent's half based on his pass success rate of 67.1% in league football (stats via fbref.com).
Weiper's current contract at the German club will run out in the summer of 2026 which could open the door for Spurs to land him in this transfer period.

Tottenham Hotspur Are Keeping Tabs On Weiper: Is He A Prospect For The Future?
Weiper can find a yard of space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He has got the eye to create the odd chance for his teammates in the final third and is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet.

The Germany U-21 international can even use his robust 1.92m frame to win his fair share of aerial duels in the opponent's half. However, he is still quite inexperienced at the highest level and would need time to prove his worth in Premier League football if Spurs manage to snap him up this summer.
Weiper is already good enough to fight for regular first-team football at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next season. He would bring more energy and dynamism to Tottenham boss Thomas Frank's frontline.
At 20, Weiper is undoubtedly a prospect to watch out for in the future. Therefore, Spurs would be wise to bring him on board before the end of this summer transfer period. However, Frank has to be patient with his development before he can unlock the best out of the talented striker at the North London club.

Brighton striker Evan Ferguson joins Roma on loan

Brighton & Hove Albion striker Evan Ferguson has joined Serie A side Roma on a season-long loan. The Athletic reported on Sunday that the 20-year-old was flying to Italy ahead of the move. The deal contains an option to make the transfer permanent. Ferguson will wear the No 11 shirt in the Italian capital. Roma had been in the market for a new striker after Tammy Abraham joined Turkish side Besiktas on loan, which will become a permanent deal if certain conditions are met. 'Evan had a challenging period across the past season and a half, and it has been one disrupted by niggling injury issues which hasn't allowed him a run of games,' said Brighton head coach Fabian Hurzeler. 'He is over those injuries and has come back in great shape. Now he really wants to play regularly. This is an exciting opportunity in a strong league and with the prospect of European football. 'We wish Evan well for the season ahead and will be watching his progress closely throughout the season.' Kerolin helps Brazil to Copa America semi-finals

Kerolin played the first half of Brazil's comfortable 4-1 victory over Paraguay in Quito on Tuesday to help her nation qualify for the final four of the 2025 Copa America. After a hat-trick last time out in an emphatic defeat of Brazil, it was a more subdued appearance for our 25-year-old in this one. Her side were already two goals to the good at the break, leading to our attacker being rested for the second period. It made it three wins from three in Group B for the eight-time winners, who will now play Colombia in their final group game on Friday before a semi-final tie next week. WATCH: WATCH: Jeglertz checks out the Joie Stadium Real Madrid's Yasmim made the difference in the first half, breaking the deadlock with a free-kick in the 27th minute before doubling the lead in near identical fashion as half-time approached. Paraguay's task got even harder early in the second half as captain Camila Arrieta was sent off for a foul on Marta. Amanda Gutierres and Duda Sampaio put the finishing touches on the game for Brazil, either side of a consolation strike from Claudia Martinez. After three matches in the competition, Brazil have scored 12 times and conceded just the once. They'll now seek to go on and defend the crown in a tournament they've dominated since its inception. As always, we'll have reports on and our official app from every international match this summer featuring City players, including the Copa America and European Championship.
