The search is on for musicians, performers, visual artists and sculptors to showcase their talent on Royal Beach Club Paradise Island
NASSAU, The Bahamas, March 5, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Royal Caribbean has announced the expansion of its Artist Discovery Program from ship to shore, giving Bahamian artists—musicians, performers, visual artists, and sculptors—the opportunity to bring to life the region's vibrant culture through curated collections and performances. This next edition of the program will offer guests visiting the Royal Beach Club Paradise Island more ways to encounter the beauty of The Bahamas while enjoying the ultimate beach day.
"The Artist Discovery Program will ensure we authentically reflect The Bahamas' enduring creativity and essence at our Royal Beach Club," said Philip Simon, President, Royal Caribbean Bahamas. "We are excited to give our guests a deeper and immersive taste of The Bahamas by embedding local art at the center of the ultimate vacation experience."
Opportunities for artists include large-scale murals, dynamic dance performances, live music and expressive sculptures, each reflecting the vibrancy of The Bahamas. Artists will be prominently featured throughout the beach club, inviting guests to explore and celebrate Bahamian culture. Royal Beach Club Paradise Island will be designed to offer an immersive experience of Bahamian art through designated "art districts." The districts will introduce guests to Bahamian traditions, highlighting natural wonders, festivities and serene beauty.
Both individual and teams of artists living in The Bahamas are invited to apply for consideration with mural, sculpture, musical or performance submissions. Submissions must be completed by March 28, 2025. Applicants must send five work samples, a CV and an artist statement to RBCPIArtistDiscoveryProgram@rccl.com to be considered.
The first round of selections will be announced in April, and the final selections will be revealed in May. Final selections will be installed at the Royal Beach Club Paradise Island by July 2025, with a grand unveiling in December 2025.
The first of the Royal Beach Club Collection continues to take shape in the coming months ahead of its opening in December 2025, and at the heart of the experience will be the island nation of The Bahamas. From the idyllic location to the Bahamian food, culture, and staff, and a unique public-private partnership with The Bahamas, the all-new beach club combines the beauty and spirit of The Bahamas with signature Royal Caribbean touches across the experience, service and design.

Royal Caribbean passengers urge cruisers to pack key travel kit

Royal Caribbean passengers urge cruisers to pack key travel kit originally appeared on TravelHost. There's an abundance of advice online about what to pack for your first cruise, and while some of these lists can be helpful, others can lead you to pack more than you really need. Some first-time cruisers overpack because they listened to social media influencers who recommended certain cruise 'essentials' for the sole purpose of earning a commission from Amazon. Other people overpack simply because that's how they frequent cruisers advise against overpacking, however, because packing light for a cruise makes the overall experience better — from simplifying the embarkation and disembarkation process to leaving more room in your small cruise ship cabin. But while packing light for a cruise is generally recommended, there are certain travel essentials that could be worth overpacking. A recent discussion in the Royal Caribbean community on Reddit revealed that many experienced cruisers have learned that it pays to overpack when it comes to a key type of travel kit. Sign up for the Come Cruise With Me newsletter to save money on your next (or your first) cruise. Royal Caribbean cruisers say pack a well-stocked cruise medicine kit When one first-time cruiser reached out to the Royal Caribbean community for advice on often overlooked things to bring on a cruise, passengers delivered. Hundreds of experienced cruisers shared one or two things they didn't realize they should have packed until they needed it on board. The essentials most Royal Caribbean passengers wished they had packed? Over-the-counter medicines. 'Any OTC meds you could possibly need. We bring ibuprofen, DayQuil, NyQuil, Pepto, Imodium, and Prilosec. Do I need them? Not often but it's great to have them when I do. My friends laugh but when they need something, they know who to ask,' Top_Turnip4781 cruiser went on to explain that they started packing their well-stocked cruise medicine kit after being forced to pay a premium when they needed cold medicines during a cruise. 'We started this after my husband got a cold on a ship,' Top_Turnip4781 explained. 'He's a big baby when he's sick so he needed cough medicine, cold medicine and cough drops. We were docked in St. Maarten. It was $47!' Be the first to see the best deals on cruises, special sailings, and more. Sign up for the Come Cruise With Me newsletter. Over-the-counter medicine is expensive on a cruise ship On most cruise ships, the onboard gift shop stocks a limited selection of toiletries and over-the-counter medicines, and each item is sold at a significant markup. Most Royal Caribbean ships also have a vending machine on board that dispenses health essentials. 'You will spend less on all of it at Walmart than for one item on the ship,' spidernole pointed out in the thread about over-the-counter medicines. Some cruise line's onboard shops carry more medicines than others. If you need something that's not available in the gift shop or health vending machine, like medications for most stomach issues, you'll have to go to the ship's medical center, which charges even higher prices.'Last place you want to find yourself is ship medical for some OTC meds. Highway robbery prices,' JazzBassMan agreed. One passenger reported that they recently spent $250 at a Royal Caribbean cruise ship medical center for Phillips' milk of magnesia for cruise constipation relief. So, even if you're the type of cruiser who aims to pack as light as possible, you may find that overpacking is wise when it comes to putting together a cruise medicine kit. In addition to stocking your cruise medicine bag with pain relievers and first aid items, digestive aids, allergy medications, and seasickness remedies, don't forget to include sunscreen and aloe.(The Arena Group will earn a commission if you book a cruise.) , or email Amy Post at or call or text her at 386-383-2472. Royal Caribbean and Carnival Cruise Line face alarming incidents

Royal Caribbean and Carnival Cruise Line face alarming incidents originally appeared on TravelHost. Although cruises are most commonly associated with carefree vacation vibes, occasionally distressing incidents happen on board ships that leave some cruisers rethinking their vacation choices. But just like a serious crime or accident can occur at any resort you choose to visit, or even in your own neighborhood, cruise ships sometimes become the setting of unfortunate and unexpected events. They are floating cities after a regular city or a floating one, when you bring all kinds of people together, and especially when you add an abundance of alcohol into the mix, you're bound to have some accidents, violence, and crime happen. It's rare, however, to have passengers and news outlets reporting almost simultaneously about serious incidents on two separate cruise ships from two different cruise lines that occurred within a day of each other. But that's exactly what happened as word came from the sea to land about a shocking man overboard incident on Royal Caribbean's Icon of the Seas on July 24. Not long after that news broke, it was reported that the FBI responded to an incident aboard Carnival Dream that concerned many passengers when medical calls rang out on board in the early morning hours of July 23. Doug Parker shared more details on these troubling cruise ship events, and other cruise news, on the July 28 edition of Cruise News Caribbean crew member dies after violent on board altercation Cruise News TodayTranscript: This is Cruise News Today with Doug Parker. Good morning, here's your cruise news for Monday, July 28th. A man overboard incident aboard the world's largest cruise ship, Icon of the Seas, has left one crew member dead and another recovering from stab wounds. Bahamas police say a 35-year-old South African man stabbed a 28-year-old female colleague aboard Royal Caribbean's Icon of the Seas on Thursday night and then jumped overboard. The woman was sent to a hospital. The man did not survive after being Caribbean initially reported a man overboard, but later confirmed the violent altercation. In a statement, the cruise line said: 'Our crew immediately initiated a search and rescue operation, but unfortunately the crew member passed away. We extend our condolences to the crew member's family and loved ones.' The ship was sailing near The Bahamas at the time of the accident. It has since returned to Miami and started the next cruise. Incident aboard Carnival Dream cruise ship leads to FBI response In a story that is raising a lot of questions after multiple accounts on social media, an incident aboard the Texas-based Carnival Dream has prompted a federal response, but no criminal investigation has been confirmed. The FBI says it's aware of an event that happened on Carnival Dream last week and is working with the Coast Guard, Customs and Carnival. Passengers reported early morning alerts and an all call for medical help on the Serenity Deck. In a statement, the FBI local field office said: 'FBI Houston is aware of an incident that occurred on July 23, 2025 on the Carnival Dream cruise ship.' Despite what's being posted on social media and quotes given to news stations, Carnival Cruise Line denies any investigation into a suspicious death and says, quote: 'It's disappointing to learn that any guests might be spreading rumors about something they know nothing about.' It should be noted that the FBI has authority over most incidents at sea on American cruise ships, depending on location, departure points, and nationalities Beyond resumes cruises from Florida after repairs Following five days at the Grand Bahamas Shipyard in Freeport, Bahamas, the Celebrity Beyond returned to service yesterday. Propulsion issues sidelined the ship for a week, canceling the July 20th sailing of Beyond. The ship instead went to Freeport last Monday for repair, where it stayed for five days. The ship arrived in South Florida just after 8 p.m. on Saturday night ahead of its cruise yesterday. Beyond is currently sailing a Western Caribbean cruise with its first stop at Perfect cruise stocks were mixed on Friday.
