11 New Albums to Stream Today
It's New Music Friday, and the weekend brings an exciting batch of new albums to stream.
Miley Cyrus is back with her highly-conceptual, Pink Floyd-inspired visual album Something Beautiful, while The National's Matt Berninger returns for his second solo effort, Get Sunk. Plus, there's new releases from yeule, Garbage, and Mt. Joy, as well as a collaborative project between Low's Alan Sparhawk and Trampled by Turtles.

After sharing the experimental White Roses, My God last year, Low's Alan Sparhawk returns today with a collaborative album made with the folk band Trampled by Turtles. It's a fitting combination, as both acts emerged from the Duluth, Minnesota area and have shared the stage together dozens of times over the years.

Singer-songwriter Ben Kweller returns to music with Cover the Mirrors, his first project since the tragic passing of his son Dorian Zev in 2023. The new album, releasing on Dorian's 19th birthday, is a raw, emotional journey through grief and loss, with support from Waxahatchee, MJ Lenderman, The Flaming Lips, and Coconut Records. Three years removed their self-titled debut album, London eight-piece band Caroline have returned with the aptly-named Caroline 2. To keep things as 'Caroline' as possible, the group recruited Caroline Polachek for lead single 'Tell me I never knew that' and included a song on the album called 'Coldplay cover' that, in fact, is not a Coldplay cover.

While Garbage are often masters at depicting darkness, Let All That We Imagine Be the Light searches for a more uplifting message. 'This record is about what it means to be alive, and about what it means to face your imminent destruction,' said the band's Shirley Manson. 'It's hopeful. It's very tender towards what it means to be a human being.' They're also supporting the album with their first headlining North American tour in seven years.

The National frontman Matt Berninger is back with his sophomore solo album Get Sunk, a rich, sorrowful exploration of the human experience. The single 'Bonnet of Pins' showcases Berninger's knack for storytelling, offering a taste of the hero's journey to the self that Berninger delivers on Get Sunk.

These US states are most likely to produce cheaters — and it's very bad news for New York
It turns out a Coldplay concert isn't the only place cheaters cheat. While New York might be best known for its bustling boroughs and look-at-me landmarks, the national treasure can now add 'player's paradise' to its resume, per new data that's crowned it the No. 1 state most likely to produce two-timers. 'Cheating-related search activity in the state is 18% above average, and it also ranks among the highest for manipulation-related searches, which are 29% higher than average,' revealed study authors from Kalon, a risqué AI-image generating hub. 'This points to a strong online interest in deceptive behavior within relationships,' continued the experts. 'What truly sets New York apart is its top position in interest related to affair websites, with search activity 29% above average.' 'Altogether, the state shows the strongest online signals of infidelity in the country.' If your romance can make it there, it'll make it anywhere — but don't hold your breath. The Empire State's gone soft on adulterers. Governor Hochul recently decriminalized cheating, formerly a class B misdemeanor with a penalty of up to 90 days in jail, making it perfectly permissible to sleep with someone without your sweetheart's consent. Thankfully, however, insiders with the scoop on infidelity have unveiled the top telltale signs one's partner is a pig, including their weird use of emojis in text messages to random phone numbers. But researchers for Kalon were determined to tech a deeper dive into the digital habits of low-down adulterers from coast-to-coast. '[We] collected keyword data across three search behavior categories to identify which U.S. states are most likely to engage in infidelity,' investigators explained. 'All data was sourced from Google Keyword Planner and analyzed across three core metrics: Online Searches Related to Cheating, Online Searches Related to Manipulation, and Online Searches to Affair Websites,' they said. 'Each metric was adjusted for the number of coupled households in each state, using data from the U.S. Census Bureau's 2023 American Community Survey.' Combining the results, the specialists generated a 'Cheating Search Score,' which was used to rank all 50 U.S. states. Alaska secured the No. 2 slot on the inglorious roster. Much like New York, the state boasts a surprisingly high rate of cheating-related and manipulation searches. 'This suggests a relationship climate marked by secrecy and control,' warned the professionals. 'While its interest in affair websites is not as strong as in other top-ranking states, Alaska's elevated activity across cheating and manipulation topics is enough to place it firmly in the number two spot.' Rounding out the top five are Nevada, Wyoming and Hawaii. Still, the analysts noted that infidelity tendencies are also rampant in Vermont, Rhode Island, Georgia, California and Oregon. Residents of Mississippi, however, can breathe a sigh of relief. 'Mississippi ranks last in the nation when it comes to online interest in infidelity-related topics, placing at the bottom across nearly every metric,' said the pros. 'The state shows minimal engagement with cheating-related content, while searches related to manipulation are 21% below average,' added the authorities. 'Interest in affair websites is even lower, with activity 34% below the national norm.' Trailing closely behind the Magnolia State are Arkansas, Idaho, Kentucky and West Virginia. Representatives for Kalon say the findings serve as a peek into the nationwide divide on faithfulness and fidelity. 'Whether driven by temptation, dissatisfaction or quiet curiosity, the search patterns offer a striking look at how infidelity shows up across different parts of the country,' a spokesperson said in a statement provided to The Post. Lennon's, a new restaurant with a ‘come and stay' philosophy, opens this weekend
A new restaurant concept is set to open its doors in downtown Naperville this weekend. Lennon's at 16 W. Jefferson Ave. offers a mix of dining and entertainment in the three-story space previously occupied by Latin-inspired AltaVida, owner Jeremy Stolberg said. The concept they're going for is 'come and stay,' he said. 'I know for myself, a lot of times we'll go out to dinner with a couple of other couples or friends or groups of friends, and it's sort of like, 'OK, we had a great dinner. Now what?'' Stolberg said. 'And this, to me, was an opportunity to capture the whole night. So come in, have dinner, stay for some cocktails, have a leisurely dessert, watch some entertainment, and really be able to go somewhere and have an entire night rather than just simply having dinner.' Similar to AltaVida, Lennon's will use multiple floors to bring different experiences to its guests. The first floor will be for patrons ordering small plates meant to be shared. One floor up, Lennon's Lounge will features upscale bar food and live entertainment. The third floor, which will open two or three months from now, will be have a steakhouse concept. There is no singular cuisine the small plates at Lennon's draw inspiration from, Stolberg said. Options include everything from Gulf shrimp ceviche ($18) and char-grilled Spanish octopus ($19) to spiced lamb meatballs ($14) and NOLA buttermilk fried chicken ($32). The dishes reflect the cooking style of Lennon's chef Luis Alvarez, Stolberg said. 'His specialty is just being creative, figuring out how we can take unique ingredients and maybe put them to a non-unique or not as unique dish, and add some unique ingredients and come up with something that's creative and delicious all at the same time,' he said. The second floor features a performance stage. A band is scheduled to play on opening night, but future entertainment could include magic acts, comedy shows and even bingo with music provided by a DJ. While he has worked in the hospitality industry previously, Stolberg said Lennon's is his biggest endeavor to date — and he's really excited to open a restaurant in Naperville. 'I grew up on the north shore in Highland Park. I live in Deerfield, and I was not familiar with Naperville,' he said. 'I fell in love with the downtown area, the people, the businesses, the vibe. It's got a great restaurant scene. … So very quickly, I just fell in love with Naperville. I thought, 'What a great place to put down some roots for the business.'' Already, he said, he feels the warmth of the Naperville community. As he's prepared for the restaurant's opening over the last month, Stolberg estimates as many as 100 people have stopped by to check out what they're doing. 'The community has been amazing. Just people stopping in and chatting and wishing us luck and saying they want to come in,' he said. 'I'm excited to be part of the community here.' In the future, Stolberg also hopes Lennon's can give back to the community through fundraising campaigns and hosting events in support of local nonprofits, schools and neighborhood initiatives. 'If people are fortunate enough to be able to come and dine out, I'd like to be able to think that we can give back,' he said. The first floor of Lennon's is open from 4 to 10 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, 4 p.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday, and 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday. Second floor hours are 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. Thursday through Saturday. More hours will be added in the coming weeks for brunch and lunch services.
