‘Here's What I Thought I Was Booking:' Woman Books Trip at RV Park. Then They Arrive
When people stay in an RV—whether they're living there permanently or for a short stint at a time—finding a place to park overnight isn't as easy as just picking a quiet street or a mall parking lot.
For one, the RV needs to hook up to essentials like water, electricity, and a sewer system. These are amenities that you're certainly not getting curbside.
On top of that, many cities have
cracked down
on overnight RV parking, citing safety, zoning laws, and neighborhood complaints.
That's where RV parks come in.
You can pay for a night, or for a weekly or monthly rate to secure your spot. And themed RV parks have started to take off, offering visitors not just a place to stay but an entire curated experience.
From retro tailor parks to tiki bars, these parks become part of the adventure. But not every adventure goes (or looks) as expected.
RV Park Gone Wrong
In a viral video with more than 1.5 million views, content creator and author of the book Confessions of an Unhappy Housewife: How I Changed My Bullsh*t Stories to Create a Life I Love, Kirstin Smith (@tacticaltrekkers) shared how she and her family were swindled into staying at a subpar RV park.
Smith lives in an RV full-time while homeschooling her four kids. Including herself and her partner, that's a family of six living the RV life.
In a recent video, she revealed that she and her family were 'catfished' by the RV park they paid for.

In the video, Smith shows the park they thought they were going to. It appears to have some kind of beaver theme going on and a beautiful pool to enjoy.
But when they arrived, the place looked abandoned.
There was no water in the pool, and it instead looked like it was possibly in the midst of being repaired.
'Not every park meets expectations,' Smith pointed out.
'Luckily, I read the 2 [star] reviews before we arrived so I knew to set the bar lowwwwww. But sometimes you just have to laugh when you end up with the wish.com / Temu version of the park that's advertised!'
Commenters React
'I mean it looked like that….. Once,' a top comment read.
'God forbid a park go for the no makeup natural look,' a person joked.
'What's the point of being open if the main attraction isn't working,' another pointed out.
'Did they forget to mention it was haunted,' a commenter wrote.

The Summer Guide To A Road Trip That's Big On Fun And Light On Impact
Summer is a time for road trips From winding coastlines, lush national parks, to beautiful views on the mountain side road trips offer one of the most immersive ways to explore the world around us. American Automobile Association projects a record 61.6 million North Americans will take road trips this year, a 2.2% increase from last year, signaling a growing love for domestic, self-guided travel. Fortunately, the freedom of the open road doesn't have to come at the planet's expense. With a few mindful choices, you can chart a course that's low-impact, high-reward and still full of adventure. A well-planned route can significantly reduce unnecessary driving. Use route-optimization tools like Google Maps or Waze to help you to plan your trips. This is essential as mapping your route helps to prevent backtracking and congested routes. As a result, you not only cut fuel consumption but also reduce travel stress. According to transportation analytics firm INRIX, the average U.S. driver lost 43 hours to traffic congestion in 2024, an increase of one hour from the previous year, based on findings from its 2024 Global Traffic Scorecard, which analyzed peak travel times over a 22-month period. Even a fraction of those hours could be saved with better planning. Once you have mapped your stops, try to cluster activities geographically so you are not doubling back, wasting time and gas by zigzagging between locations. One of the first things you should do before setting off, is give your vehicle a proper check-up. A well-maintained car burns fuel more efficiently and emits fewer pollutants. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, fixing serious maintenance issues, like a faulty oxygen sensor, can improve mileage by up to 40%. For your trip, ensure your tires are inflated, your air filters are clean, and your engine is tuned. It is one of the easiest ways to lower your footprint without changing your travel style. You can find more car tips to ensure better fuel economy in this comprehensive guide. Ditch the disposables. Pack a kit with reusable water bottles, cutlery, food containers, and cloth napkins. The World Economic Forum report expressed that of the 40 million tons of plastic waste generated in the U.S. in 2021, only 5% to 6%, or about two million tons was recycled. To reduce your plastic usage on your trip, a simple stainless-steel bottle and a stocked cooler can help you avoid roadside plastic waste, unnecessary food packaging and also help avoid overpriced roadside snacks and packaging waste. Additionally, remember to pack reusable shopping bags, and biodegradable wipes which are also essential for your trip. Another item that is often forgotten is garbage bags for collecting waste along the way, especially when passing through remote areas without public bins. Finally, remember to pack a portable battery pack or car charger which are must haves to keep your phone powered in case of emergencies or when navigating off-grid. Excited black family packing their car trunk for a trip to the beach. Every pound counts when it comes to fuel efficiency. Avoid overpacking, and skip bulky roof racks unless absolutely necessary. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, storing items inside your car or trunk instead of on a roof rack can significantly improve fuel efficiency, reducing drag and improving mileage by up to 8% in city driving and as much as 25% on the highway. It is also wise to travel light because carrying around an extra 100 pounds could raise your fuel cost by roughly 3 cents per gallon. Furthermore, streamlined packing also means less unpacking and repacking at each stop, so your trip runs more smoothly overall. If you will be staying overnight on your trip, support accommodations that practice sustainability. Use platforms like or the Global Sustainable Tourism Council to find certified green accommodations. If you will be camping, follow Leave No Trace principles which is simply: dispose of waste properly, respect wildlife, and leave natural spaces better than you found them. While fast food is convenient while on your road trip, sustainable travel invites you to explore local flavors instead. Seek out farm-to-table restaurants, regional farmers' markets, or even food trucks that use local ingredients. This not only ensures that you enjoy fresher meals, but also support local farmers and reduce the carbon cost of long-distance food transport. You can still pack homemade snacks and sandwiches, but try to diversify your dining with local gems whenever you stop. Outdoor farm to table meals. What is a road trip without fun activities? So plan activities that minimize environmental impact and maximize community benefit. Opt for walking tours, nature hikes or other low-emission experiences. Better yet, hire local eco-guides who are knowledgeable about the land and invested in protecting it. This ensures that your money goes back into the community while deepening your connection to the places you explore. Even the most conscious travelers will generate emissions. To mitigate against this, you can consider purchasing verified carbon credits through platforms like Gold Standard, Cool Effect, or Climate Action Reserve. Offsetting 1,000 miles of driving in a gas-powered car can help fund climate solutions like clean cookstove projects or reforestation in underserved regions. Conclusion Road trips are an essential summer activity and we can do it sustainably without eliminating fun and adventure. You can elevate it with intention because when you travel consciously, every mile becomes more meaningful. Your trips becomes more than just sightseeing and you become a part of a global movement redefining what it means to explore responsibly. Road trips offer freedom, but with intention, they can also offer environmental responsibility.

With Influencer Marketing In Flux, Runway Influence CEO Ernest Sturm Isn't Retreating, But Recalibrating
When MGM Grand's Palm Tree Beach Club (a new day club by Palm Tree Crew and Tao Group) debuted in May 2025, Runway Influence helped turn the opening into a social media sensation. Runway Influence From a recent Fast Company feature declaring that 'influencer marketing has lost its edge' to a New York Times report on brands ditching creators in favor of in-house talent, it's clear that the era of picture-perfect sponsored posts is evolving. Add to that the rise of AI-generated influencers, now accessible to anyone with tools like Veo3 feeding viral Instagram Reels, the rules of engagement are being rewritten in real time. In this shifting landscape, Ernest Sturm, CEO of Runway Influence, isn't retreating, but restrategizing. From luxury carmakers to boutique beauty labels, Runway Influence has managed more than 850 projects. Sturm and team have activated hundreds of influencer partnerships and developed long-term campaigns for clients such as Adidas, McLaren Automotive, Ferrari, Hyatt Hotels, Wildfox Couture, Vivaia, El Silencio Mezcal, cosmetic treatment brands like Morpheus8, and more. With its most lucrative deals having topped out at around $500,000, Runway Influence is known for pairing top celebrity, supermodel and influencer talent with luxury brands. Just this May, his agency was charged with generating influencer presence at the grand opening of the Palm Tree Club in Las Vegas. Formerly known as the Wet Republic, the 60,000 square-foot pool club was relaunched by Palm Tree Crew and Tao Group Hospitality, aiming to redefine the Las Vegas dayclub scene. To amplify the launch, Runway Influence booked mega-influencers with millions of followers, such as Rachel Cook and Georgina Mazzeo, to attend and promote the venue across Instagram and TikTok. 'These influencers created stunning content from the event, generating buzz both online and on the Las Vegas billboards,' says Sturm, who founded Runway Influence in 2017. Originally, it was a company that staffed events with model servers, bartenders and waiters. 'The result was a viral grand opening that put Palm Tree Beach Club on the map for the summer season, showing how strategic influencer invites can augment traditional PR in the hospitality nightlife space.' Sturm is doubling down on authenticity, hybrid strategies, and even AI-powered personalities to shape what he calls an 'ecosystem of influence.' Here, Sturm unpacks how his agency is adapting to industry skepticism, tech disruption, and the growing demand for real storytelling. Some media reports have suggested that influencer marketing is losing its edge. What's your take? Kylie Rae for Adidas + Urban Outfitters Influencer Marketing Event Los Angeles, CA Runway Influence Influencer marketing isn't dying—it's maturing. The old playbook of one-off, cookie-cutter posts is becoming less effective. At Runway Influence, we've responded by being highly selective and prioritizing long-term partnerships with influencers who have real credibility and engagement. We align brands with voices that truly reflect their values, fostering trust through ongoing content rather than quick hits. What do you make of the trend of brands creating in-house influencers, such as employees or founders? I welcome it. We've seen brands humanize themselves by showcasing their own teams—designers, engineers, even IT staff—as brand ambassadors. It's an effective way to build authenticity. Rather than competing with this trend, we help brands combine it with external creator campaigns. It's all about building an ecosystem of influence: external reach paired with internal credibility. For the launch of Tequila Dahlia (a premium cristalino tequila from the makers of Mezcal El Silencio), Runway Influence harnessed the star power of supermodels Sara Sampaio and Alessandra Ambrosio. Runway Influence What is the future of micro vs. macro influencers? Both are critical, but their roles are evolving. Micro-influencers have smaller, niche audiences but often see engagement rates as high as 7–20%. They're trusted voices within communities and ideal for relationship-driven marketing. Macro and mega-influencers offer massive reach and cultural impact. They're perfect for big, splashy launches where broad awareness is key. The smartest brands, or the brands with sufficient budget, use both. We often run year-round micro-ambassador programs for consistency and community-building, while bringing in macro-influencers for key tentpole moments. With better analytics, we can now measure the specific ROI each tier brings—whether that's conversions or brand lift. What are the key influencer trends companies should pay attention to? Here's what we have noted at Runway Influence: Community-driven campaigns using nano- and micro-influencers. Hybrid strategies that blend internal brand voices with external creators. Long-term partnerships over one-off posts. Data-driven decisions on influencer selection and campaign performance, often powered by AI. How is Runway Influence approaching the rise of AI-generated influencers? We've been working with AI influencers for years. Our agency has developed hundreds of virtual influencer accounts that engage with real people—commenting, messaging, and building organic relationships that drive curiosity toward our clients' brands. What sets us apart is our hybrid approach is we use AI for reach and efficiency, and real creators for storytelling and emotional resonance. That said, AI is here to complement—not replace—human influence. Transparency is key. Audiences should know when they're engaging with a virtual persona and brands should disclose this. We also use AI behind the scenes to power our targeting, content planning, and performance analysis. The goal is to combine AI's precision with the human touch that makes influencer marketing truly effective. What has been your priciest campaign to date? That would be the Candice Swanepoel x Vivaia campaign. It was one of our most high-profile and successful luxury collaborations. In a campaign bridging fashion and sustainability, Runway Influence teamed up with shoe brand Vivaia to introduce its eco-friendly line of women's footwear. The agency secured Candice Swanepoel and Emily DiDonato – both world-famous supermodels – as the faces of Vivaia's social media launch . Candice Swanepoel for Vivaia. Runway Influence Swanepoel and DiDonato, known for their work with Victoria's Secret and high-end fashion houses, brought instant credibility to the upstart brand. They shared stylish content wearing Vivaia's chic flats and heels, emphasizing the products' blend of style and comfort. The campaign reached millions of fashion-conscious consumers and reinforced the brand positioning as a luxury sustainable brand, with coverage that extended from Instagram feeds to glossy magazines. By partnering with top-tier talent who genuinely supported its mission, Vivaia earned both eyeballs and trust – a textbook example of Runway Influence's ability to craft campaigns that 'captivate and convert.'
