Jury retires to consider verdicts in Christmas Day stabbing murder trial
Kirsty Carless, 33, is accused of plunging a knife into 31-year-old Louis Price's heart in the early hours of December 25 2024 in an attack 'motivated by anger and jealousy, and fuelled by cocaine and alcohol' after a friend sent her a picture of his Tinder profile, Stafford Crown Court heard.
Prosecutors allege Carless, of Haling Way in Cannock, Staffordshire, took a kitchen knife in a taxi from her home to Mr Price's parents' address in Elm Road, Norton Canes, where she expected to find him with a woman.
CCTV showed Carless running up the front path into the house and then 'stalking' him around the garden before he was later found with a single stab wound to the chest on the conservatory floor.
The court was told Carless had called Mr Price 45 times between 2.15am and 2.44am while she waited for the taxi to take her to his address and called the cab company two more times during that time to find out where it was.
She is said to have asked the taxi driver to wait outside while she went in the property to stab Mr Price at around 3am, before fleeing minutes later in the cab to her parents' address, where she was arrested.
Father-of-six Mr Price had been considered by police to be 'at very high risk of domestic abuse' and Carless was on police bail at the time of the fatal stabbing after allegedly strangling Mr Price on November 11 2024.
In her evidence to the trial, Carless said she had no recollection of stabbing him, was 'not a violent person' and had only gone to Mr Price's address as she believed he had taken money from inside a card she had in her home.
She said she picked up a knife with intent to destroy the caravan he was staying in in his parents' back garden and had 'panicked' after Mr Price was stabbed and fled.
She denies murder and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place in relation to the fatal stabbing, and intentional strangling and assault occasioning actual bodily harm in relation to the incident in November.
The jury were sent out to start their deliberations by judge Mr Justice Choudhury at 11.41am on Monday.

The investigation into the family's killings in Tiptonville began after an infant in a car seat was found in a front yard in the Tigrett area, roughly 40 miles (65 kilometers) away. The Dyer County Sheriff's Office said in a statement that a caller reported that a minivan or midsize SUV had dropped the baby at a 'random individual's front yard.' The sheriff's office later said they were working with investigators in neighboring Lake County, where four people had been found dead. Officials determined those people were the child's parents, grandmother and uncle. Why was the baby found so far from the crime scene? That is not clear. Detectives believe Drummond drove the baby about 40 miles from Tiptonville, where they say he fatally shot the four adults, to the town of Tigrett, where the baby girl was left in a front yard. They haven't said publicly why Drummond chose that house. Dyer and Lake counties District Attorney Danny Goodman declined in an interview with The Associated Press to elaborate on what detectives know about this aspect of the case. He said only that the baby girl is safe now and in the custody of other relatives. What was the motive? Investigators have not revealed why they think Drummond carried out the killings. Goodman said Drummond knew the four people he's charged with killing and that Drummond's girlfriend is the sister of the child's grandmother, but it's unknown if he has any connection to the baby. According to court records, Drummond spent years in prison for robbing a convenience store as a 16-year-old and threatening to go after jurors. He was tried as an adult for the July 2013 robbery in Jackson, Tennessee. During the robbery, he pointed a pistol at the gas station store worker and ordered the cash register to be opened, taking the $44 inside, court records show. At a 2020 parole hearing, Drummond said he was on Xanax the night of the robbery and doesn't remember robbing the gas station. He said the firearm was a BB gun. After the jury convicted him of one count of aggravated robbery in August 2014, he made threats to go after jurors, Drummond said during the hearing. He pleaded guilty in February 2015 to 13 counts of retaliation for past action and was given a combined 13-year sentence. His sentence ended in September 2024, according to Tennessee Department of Correction records. As of the 2020 parole hearing, Drummond had more than two dozen disciplinary issues in prison, including possession of a deadly weapon, assault, refusing a drug test and gang activity. Drummond was charged for several activities inside the prison, including attempted murder, after he completed the sentence that originally put him behind bars, Goodman said at a news conference. Drummond was out on bond on the other charges at the time of the killings, Goodman said. What happens next? Drummond is expected in court in Tiptonville for an arraignment later this week. He faces four counts of first-degree murder, one count of aggravated kidnapping and weapons offenses, officials have said. Goodman said he's yet to decide whether to seek the death penalty, but said 'it is very likely' he'll pursue it. An attorney who represented Drummond in his case as a teenager did not return an earlier message requesting a comment. A vandal has been jailed after he threatened a Casino worker with a knife because the slot machines 'lied to him' during an unsuccessful afternoon of gambling. Constantin Lupo used a bar stool to smash five of the appliances in a fit of rage and assaulted the staff member with a lock knife in June last year. The thug caused the unlucky man to suffer multiple injuries, including cuts to his head, arms and legs at Cockhedge Shopping Centre in Warrington. A court was told Lupo, of Frederick Street, Widnes, inflicted £8,734-worth of damage - though he denied the charge. His encounter with the staff member came after he had attempted to intervene. Eventually Lupo's lock knife was prised from him, as colleagues and members of the public restrained the vandal until police arrived. Denying the charges of criminal damage, Lupo insisted he got angry at the slot machines, which had been 'lying' to him. He said the person who intervened tried to stop him from leaving, so he pushed him to the ground. He denied causing the injuries with the lock knife. Lupo was jailed for eight months after being found guilty of criminal damage; inflicting grievous bodily harm; and the possession of a bladed article in public following a four-day trial at Liverpool Crown Court. Man (35) charged in connection with fatal incident in Waterford
The man charged in connection with an incident in Waterford on Friday, following which a man died, has been remanded in custody pending DPP instructions. David Norris (35) of 8 Assumption Terrace, Rosbercon, New Ross, Co Wexford, appeared by video link before Judge Miriam Walsh at Waterford District Court on Tuesday, August 5th. Advertisement As The Waterford News & Star reports, Mr Norris is charged with assault causing harm contrary to Section 3 of the Non-Fatal Acts Against the Person Act 1997. Acting for the state, Sergeant John Phelan made an application for the defendant to be remanded in continuing custody to await further instructions from the DPP. Judge Walsh put the matter back to August 19th. On Friday, August 1st, at around 2:20 pm, uniformed gardaí responded to a call at a house in St Catherine's Grange Housing Estate. There, they found a male in his 70s unconscious. A second male in his 30s was arrested at the scene. An Garda Síochána say the investigation is ongoing.
