Ramayana Actor Ravie Dubey Celebrates 'Queen' Sargun Mehta's 10 Years In Punjabi Cinema
Sargun Mehta marked 10 years in Punjabi cinema, transforming it with hits like Angrej and Qismat. Her husband Ravie Dubey called her the 'Queen' of Punjabi industry for her vision.
Actor Sargun Mehta has completed 10 years in Punjabi cinema — a decade that has not only redefined success but also reshaped the very foundation of the regional industry. Marking the occasion, her husband and creative partner, actor Ravie Dubey, who plays Laxman in Ranbir Kapoor-led Ramayana, shared a deeply moving note on social media, calling her the 'Queen of Punjabi Industry" and crediting her vision for building a creative ecosystem in Punjab.
'The Queen Sargun Mehta completes 10 glorious years in Punjabi cinema. But she didn't stop at being an actor, she went far, far beyond that," Ravie wrote, expressing pride in her transformative contributions both on and off screen.
Sargun's journey began after a successful stint in Hindi television with shows like 12/24 Karol Bagh and Balika Vadhu. In 2015, she took a bold leap into Punjabi cinema with Angrej, which went on to become a major box office success. Since then, her filmography has been marked by critically acclaimed and commercially successful projects including Qismat, Love Punjab, Lahoriye, Qismat 2, Jind Mahi, Saunkan Saunkne, and this year's blockbuster hits Saunkan Saunkanay 2 and Sarbala Ji.
But Sargun's impact goes beyond her on-screen presence. In 2021, she co-founded Dreamiyata Entertainment with Ravie Dubey, becoming the first actress to produce Punjabi-language television content for a national channel. Their show Udaariyaan, aired on Colors TV, became a long-running success and set a precedent for regional storytelling on mainstream platforms.
'She has built an unprecedented ecosystem for the Indian television industry right here in Punjab," Ravie wrote. 'For the past five years, hundreds of people have been working, creating, thriving — because of one woman's vision, faith, and relentless prayers."

'She has Maa Annapurna's blessings. Wherever Sargun steps, that place begins to prosper. My life included," Ravie added, concluding his post with a heartfelt message: 'I'm the luckiest man alive — to be her partner in life, both personally and professionally. May God bless you always, my darling. This is just the beginning."
An overwhelmed Sargun wrote in the comment box, 'You celebrate me like no other… I am queen only because I am your queen my king."
As Sarbala Ji continues its successful theatrical run and Saunkan Saunkanay 2 stands as the biggest Punjabi hit of the year, Sargun Mehta's legacy only grows stronger.

Rajesh Khanna, Dilip Kumar, Dev Anand: Stars Who Won Hearts But Not A National Award
Last Updated: Some of Bollywood's biggest legends never won a National Film Award despite delivering unforgettable performances. The 71st National Film Awards were announced on August 1 and it was a big moment for Shah Rukh Khan fans. After 33 years in the industry, SRK finally won his first National Film Award for Best Actor for his powerful role in Jawan. Atlee's film Jawan featured Shah Rukh Khan in a dual role and his performance in both characters won widespread praise from audiences. His win has made headlines, but it also brings attention to some other legendary actors who, surprisingly, never received this prestigious honour. Here is a look at some iconic stars who ruled hearts and box offices but never won a National Award. Rajesh Khanna: Often called Bollywood's first superstar, Rajesh Khanna gave us unforgettable films like Anand, Haathi Mere Saathi and Kora Kagaz. Despite his stardom and long list of hit movies, he was never honoured with a National Award, which many still find hard to believe. Sunil Dutt: Known for his intense and meaningful roles, Sunil Dutt delivered classics like Mother India, Milan and Mujhe Jeene Do. His acting and contribution to Indian cinema were remarkable, yet he too never received a National Award during his lifetime. Dilip Kumar: The legendary Dilip Kumar, often referred to as the 'Tragedy King', is still remembered for his outstanding performances in films like Mughal-E-Azam, Ganga Jamuna and Naya Daur. He passed away in 2021 at the age of 98, but shockingly, he never won a National Award. Even so, his legacy and the admiration he received from fans are unmatched. Dharmendra: Dharmendra was a massive crowd-puller, known for his charming screen presence and action-packed roles in movies like Sholay, Chupke Chupke and Satyakam. While he won many hearts, the National Film Awards jury never recognised his talent officially. Dev Anand: Dev Anand With hits like Guide, Jewel Thief and Hum Dono, Dev Anand became a style icon and one of the most beloved actors of his time. Despite being multi-talented and giving some of Indian cinema's best films, he too missed out on a National Award. These stars have played an unforgettable role in shaping Indian cinema. Their films continue to inspire, entertain and touch lives, even without the National Award tag. First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
