
Punjab PA Speaker distributes cheques among sanitation workers
LAHORE: Punjab Assembly Speaker, Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan distributed award cheques among hardworking sanitation workers in Kasur under the 'Suthra Punjab Programme' initiated by the Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, in recognition of their excellent cleanliness arrangements during Eid-ul-Azha.
On this occasion, the Speaker not only distributed the award cheques on behalf of the Punjab government but also announced an equal amount of personal reward for each worker — a gesture that was warmly appreciated by the attendees.
Addressing the workers, Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan paid tribute to the leadership of the Government of Punjab and stated that the vision of public service envisioned by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif is now being implemented in letter and spirit. The successful execution of the 'Suthra Punjab' initiative is a prime example of this.
The Speaker commended the efforts of the Suthra Punjab workers, stating that hardworking individuals are the backbone of a province's progress and development.
'Loyal and dedicated individuals like you are our pride,' he said.
'The true beauty of our society lies in the hands that serve silently and selflessly.'
Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan especially acknowledged the commitment, discipline, and sense of duty demonstrated by these workers during the Eid holidays. 'Their performance is truly commendable,' he said.

FBR misses revised target by Rs178bn in FY25
ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has provisionally collected Rs 11,722 billion during July-June (2024-25) against the downward revised target of Rs 11,900 billion, reflecting a shortfall of Rs178 billion. The FBR has also missed the tax collection target of Rs 1667 billion set for June 2025. The government had downward revised the FBR's annual tax collection target from Rs 12,913 billion to Rs 12,334 billion for 2024-25. The tax collection target was further reduced to Rs 11,900 billion for the last fiscal year (2024-25). Despite taxation measures amounting to Rs. 1.8 trillion for 2024-25, this revised target of Rs 11,900 billion was also not met by the end of June 30, 2025. FBR misses May target by Rs206bn Till Monday (June 30) evening, the FBR's tax collection stood at Rs11,706 billion for 2024-25. The amount increased to Rs 11,722 billion till 10pm Monday night for the period of July-June (2024-25). A significant shortfall in tax collection has been reported in the FBR's tax collection figures. In the past, the shortfall was increased from Rs 703 billion during July-March (2024-25) to Rs 821 billion during July-April (2024-25). The shortfall was further increased to Rs 1027 billion during July-May (2024-25) period. Tax machinery faced an impossible task to collect Rs 1667 billion during last month of 2025-25 i.e. June 2025. HSD price up by Rs10.39, petrol's by Rs8.36
ISLAMABAD: The federal government Monday announced a massive increase in the prices of petroleum products with effect from July 1, 2025. The price of petrol has gone up by Rs 8.36 per litre, whereas, High Speed Diesel (HSD) price has also increased by Rs 10.39 per litre. The price of petrol has gone up from Rs 266.79 per litre from Rs 258.43 per litre and HSD's jumped from Rs 262.59 to Rs 272.98 per litre for the fortnight starting July 1, according to the Finance Division's statement. The Finance Division said the decision to increase the prices of petroleum products have been taken in line with the recommendations of Ogra and the relevant ministries. Sources said that the government adjusted the petroleum levy (PL) on petroleum products to levy carbon tax with a rate of Rs 2.50 per litre. The PL on petrol has reduced from Rs 78.02 per litre to Rs 75.52 per litre and HSD also witnessed a reduction in Pl from Rs 77 to Rs 74.51 per litre, sources said. Copyright Business Recorder, 2025
