Some songs aren't just meant to be heard — they're meant to be felt . They stir memories, trigger unspoken emotions, and give voice to things we've lived but never managed to put into words. That's the power behind Addicted to the Way You Love Me , the latest single from Italo-Brazilian artist EMS. With its heartfelt lyrics and layered Pop Rock foundation infused with subtle R&B tones, the track speaks directly to the universal experience of love, surrender, and emotional vulnerability.
Born and raised in Limeira, Brazil — a city shaped by industry and resilience — EMS grew up surrounded by stories of hard work and quiet ambition. His childhood wasn't spent in playgrounds or game arcades, but rather with a pen in hand, filling notebooks with poetry and lyrics. Songwriting was never a calculated choice. It was a way of understanding life — a natural outlet that later matured into a deeply personal form of storytelling.
For over 14 years, EMS has been living in London, where those childhood verses evolved into full songs that explore longing, identity, and connection. His music doesn't chase trends. It chases truth — and Addicted to the Way You Love Me is a perfect example of that honesty.
The song was born not in a studio but in a moment of stillness after chaos. During a holiday trip with friends to the Brazilian coast — a place filled with youthful romance and the glow of summer — a near-tragic pool incident shook the festive mood. While others were intoxicated or overwhelmed, EMS stayed present, looking after his then-girlfriend with quiet care. Later that night, while she slept beside him, he brewed a strong coffee, opened a blank notebook, and wrote the song's first verses as the rest of the house fell into silence.
The next morning, she found his lyrics and whispered, 'It's beautiful.' In that moment, the song was no longer just his — it belonged to a shared memory.
The lyrics evoke the intensity of emotional dependence with poetic simplicity. Lines like 'You walk in, and the world turns slow' and 'You're the thrill I chase, the calm I crave' reflect the duality of a love that feels both like chaos and safety. The chorus captures the essence of this emotional storm:
'I'm addicted to the way you love me / It's a fire that owns me, slow and lovely.'
There's a spoken-word bridge that gently breaks the structure — revealing raw emotion with R&B undertones:
'You're the hit I take, the high I trust / This ain't just lust—it's soul and wildfire.'
It's a love that refuses to be categorized. One that isn't polite or manageable — but deeply human. The kind that leaves a mark.
This song isn't background noise. It's a trigger for old feelings and a mirror to your most intimate memories. You don't just listen to it — you relive something through it.
Let the music speak for itself. EMS's single is available on all major streaming platforms. For the best experience, listen when you're alone, calm, and open to whatever memory it might awaken.

Food Network star Anne Burrell died from drug overdose suicide: NYC Medical Examiner

NEW YORK — Food Network star Anne Burrell committed suicide by ingesting a mixture of drugs, the New York City Medical Examiner said Thursday. Burrell, 55, was found collapsed on her shower floor inside her Brooklyn apartment about 1 a.m. June 17. An autopsy has determined she died of the 'combined effects of diphenhydramine, ethanol, cetirizine, and amphetamine,' a Medical Examiner autopsy has now found. Her death has been deemed a suicide, a spokeswoman for the city Medical Examiner said. The 911 dispatcher told Burrell's husband, Stuart Claxton, to perform CPR on the 'Worst Cooks in America' host while awaiting first responders, though her body was already cold. EMS personnel also attempted lifesaving measures when they got there but could not revive the chef. Burrell married Claxton in 2021 and was stepmother to his son, Javier. 'Anne was a remarkable person and culinary talent — teaching, competing and always sharing the importance of food in her life and the joy that a delicious meal can bring,' the Food Network said in a statement after her death. Burrell became a fan favorite at the Food Network for her signature spiky blonde hair and energetic personality on 'Worst Cooks,' doing her best to shape floundering chefs into respectable recipe followers. -------------

Underground Music Showcase preps for its swan song

The sun will soon set on the Underground Music Showcase. The big picture: The indie music festival announced earlier this year its 25th edition would be its last — and organizers are planning an epic swan song starting this Friday. What they're saying:"We can't predict the future — but we can promise this: The final UMS in its current form will be legendary," its website reads. Why it matters: The musical spectacle on South Broadway will be sorely missed in a city with few major music festivals, and one that made it its mission to elevate independent and new, rollicking voices. State of play: More than 200 artists will perform across four stages and 12 venues over the weekend. Three local acts to check out: DeVotchKa: Founded in Denver, these UMS headliners playing Sunday on the Showcase Stage are perhaps best known for providing the uplifting sound behind the popular indie film "Little Miss Sunshine." Nina de Freitas: The Brazilian-born singer will perform Friday and Sunday, serenading the crowds with her soulful, longing ballads. Keenan TreVon: Hailing from Aurora, TreVon makes his UMS debut this year, bringing his upbeat, poppy, occasionally bedroom-rock to the Hi Dive on Friday. If you go: Weekend passes are still available starting at $150, including ticket and fees, while single-day tickets start at $88, including fees. The festival runs along South Broadway between Sixth and Alameda. Hours will vary from Friday (4pm–2am), Saturday (2pm–2am) and Sunday (2pm–11pm).

I paid less than $200 for a one-star hotel in a top beach destination — here's what I got for my money

How much comfort are you willing to forgo for a cheap vacation? A British tourist spent less than $200 for one night at a one-star hotel in Miami, Florida — and he took viewers along to see what he got for the very low price. Simon Wilson, who regularly shares his travel adventures on social media, posted an Instagram Reel with over 2 million views documenting his stay at the unidentified establishment in the high-end area of South Beach, where rooms regularly rent for upwards of $500 per night. 3 South Beach is notoriously expensive and one of the priciest areas in Miami. miami2you – Wilson walked into the establishment without a reservation and asked the receptionist for a room with one bed. He revealed that he had looked at reviews online, finding that they were all negative. When he asked why the hotel had such poor reviews, the worker replied only with a sly shrug. The cost of the room with one bed for one night was $149 plus tax, which came out to $184.86. On top of that, the hotel charged a $50 deposit that would be refundable at checkout. In total, Wilson had to dish out $234.86 upon arrival at the one-star hotel. The budget lodgings were revealed to have 80 rooms — and only nine of them were occupied the night Wilson showed up. When Wilson asked the receptionist about amenities, he discovered that there were none — no swimming pool, sauna, breakfast or coffee. All he was getting was the room. 'I have no idea what to expect here,' he said as he opened the door to his room on the first floor. 3 Wilson asked the receptionist, a Brazilian man named Celso, about the amenities at the hotel. @simonjwils/Instagram 'This isn't too bad,' he said. He showed viewers around the room, which included a 'lovely' and small dining table with one chair, bedside cabinets and a remote for the TV on the wall. Moving on to the bathroom, he said the shower/bath looked 'fairly clean' and pointed out that there was a decent amount of soap provided. 'The main thing and the most important thing though is the bed,' he said. 'What's this gonna look like?' After inspecting the pillows and sheets, he deemed it suitable for sleeping. 'I think we might have just had a bargain in South Beach, Miami,' Wilson declared. But people in the comments begged to differ. 'Our man was getting rinsed,' one wrote with a laughing emoji. 'Even half that price would be a rip-off,' someone else said. 'That is a hell of an expensive room considering it is very basic and not even a breakfast or a cup of coffee with it !!!!,' a commenter said. 3 'This isn't too bad,' he said as he entered the room. @simonjwils/Instagram However, many people in the comments also reasoned that the hotel seemed pricey because of its location in South Beach. 'Y'all complaining about the price, but it's expensive in Miami. If you're in South Beach, that's about what it's going to cost,' someone said. 'The price is very normal at last minute in Miami, Florida.. You can't find cheaper than that, either one star or 3 stars,' another wrote. South Beach is notoriously expensive and one of the priciest areas in Miami. According to Radical Storage, premium oceanfront hotels could cost anywhere from $400 to $1,000+ per night during high season. However, booking earlier can result in better prices for visitors. Hotel star rankings are widely used to determine a hotel's quality. In the U.S., a one-star hotel typically means there are only basic room options available with basic accommodations and minimal amenities. These hotels are more about functionality and affordability.
