Dagnall double as St Helens dominate Castleford
St Helens (28) 40
Tries: Percival, Dagnall (2), Feldt, Clark, Robertson, Sailor Goals: Feldt (6)
Castleford (0) 0
Owen Dagnall continued his remarkable start to life in Super League with two tries as St Helens strengthened their play-off chances by hammering Castleford Tigers.
The 19-year-old made it seven tries in eight games, capping a hit-and-miss Saints display at the Totally Wicked Stadium with a brilliant solo effort for his second.
Saints made it five wins from their past six games by streaking away in the first half as tries from the returning Mark Percival, Dagnall, Kyle Feldt, Daryl Clark and a stunning length-of-the-field effort from Harry Robertson blew the visitors away.
The second half was littered with Saints errors, while Cas improved, but Dagnall fired it up with a terrific second try, with Tristan Sailor adding another to make it one win in six for the Tigers.
The win means Saints leapfrog Leeds Rhinos into fourth place on points difference.
Saints needed to hit back after the five-match winning streak which had re-ignited their season was ended by a home loss to Leigh Leopards in their last outing, and struggling Castleford were easy meat.
Percival missed that defeat with illness but announced his return with a fine run on to Moses Mbye's pass to streak over, and Dagnall quickly added a second try when Sailor's chip over the defence bounced kindly for him.
The one-way traffic continued as Sailor broke through and flipped a pass out of the back of his hand for Feldt to score, and then Clark was allowed to scoot over from the base of a scrum by some slack defence.
Cas finally put together an attack but Josh Simm was denied a try when video referee Liam Rush spotted a foot in touch, and when the Tigers attacked again, it led to Saints' fifth try as Chris Atkin's kick was seized by Robertson, who then sprinted from deep in his own half to go over.
The bubbling atmosphere inside the stadium went flat as Saints took their foot off the accelerator, symptomatic of their in-and-out season, but Dagnall fired them up again by carving through a gap, and then launching an ambitious kick for the corner which he somehow reached first and gleefully dived on for his second try.
Castleford cracked again and two minutes later Sailor capped a fine game by supporting a break by Ignatius Paasi and easing over the line for a try to which Feldt added his sixth conversion.
St Helens: Sailor; Feldt, Robertson, Percival, Dagnall; Lomax, Mbye; Walmsley, Clark, Lees, Sironen, Whitley, Knowles.
Interchanges: Paasi, Wingfield, Delaney, Burns.
Castleford: Rooney; Simm, Cini, Senior, Djeukessi; Asi, Atkin; Singleton, Lawler, Amone, Stimson, Mellor, Westermann.

Real Madrid forward leaning towards Liverpool, but move unlikely
Real Madrid are not planning any more groundbreaking arrivals this summer for they have already signed enough stars to elevate the squad from last season. A big sale, however, has not been ruled out. While Los Blancos are under no compulsion to sell, moving away players who are not in the manager's plans would help the books and Rodrygo Goes is seen as one who can make a move in that sense. The Brazilian youngster, while im[important for the club in recent years, saw his prominence fall last season. Now, his future is being called into question after it has become clear that the new manager prefers a system with only two forwards. England is calling Rodrygo has always been one to prioritise the Real Madrid crest over anything else but his forced position leaves him open to considering external offers. The Premier League, in that sense, is one that tempts him and he may well move to England. As relayed by Rodra in a recent report, the club that Rodrygo is most attracted to right now is Liverpool. However, a move right now looks unlikely. What does the future hold for Rodrygo? (Photo by) The player sees the project at the Merseyside club to be one where he can shine and continue to compete at the highest level on all fronts, for the club have done well not only domestically but also in Europe in recent seasons. The hurdle, however, is Arne Slot's team's sudden interest in splashing the cash on Alexander Isak this summer which will be very fund-intensive. Liverpool have already signed a striker this summer and could well drop the interest in Isak soon, something that will reopen the door to Rodrygo's arrival. At this point, however, the move looks unlikely. The Brazilian phenom has also received interest from Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and other top Premier League clubs. While the former refuse to meet his wage demands, the player does not fancy the latter option from a competitive standpoint. Given the situation, it is not entirely ruled out that Rodrygo ends up staying put at Real Madrid this summer despite all the speculations.

Panthers down Titans in golden-point thriller
Penrith five-eighth sensation Blaize Talagi has scored a golden-point try for the ages to down a brave Gold Coast 30-26 in a drama-charged classic at Robina. Panthers halves Talagi and Nathan Cleary orchestrated a 24-0 lead by halftime before the Titans hit back in stunning fashion in front of 18,174 fans. Gold Coast fullback AJ Brimson and half Jayden Campbell turned it on with sheer individual brilliance as the hosts scored five tries in 25 minutes to take a 26-24 lead in the 74th minute. Cleary, as only he can, landed a 41m two-point field goal in the 79th to take the match to golden point. He then missed his first field goal shot from 30m out before 20-year-old Talagi started and finished a 60m attacking raid in the 83rd minute.. The Panthers secured an eighth consecutive victory to leave the four-time defending premiers on 29 competition points, just one behind the fourth-positioned Warriors. In an ominous omen, Penrith have made the grand final on all five occasions (2003 and 2020-2024) they have previously won eight in a row. The Panthers are capable of challenging for a fifth straight title but will need to heed lessons from their great escape. They were cruising at halftime but the Titans had other ideas. Talagi seals the game in golden point! 💥Telstra Moment of the Match — NRL (@NRL) August 2, 2025 Brimson sent centre Brian Kelly in before Campbell intercepted a Cleary pass to race 90m and get the 16th-placed Titans on the board. Campbell was at it again to step and weave his way through and hooker Sam Verrills dived over from dummy-half. Minutes later Phil Sami finished off a Brimson bust and the lead had been cut to two. Sami was in again after Penrith muffed a Kieran Foran bomb and Gold Coast led 26-24 with six minutes to play. The high drama continued when a Panthers trainer ran in front of Campbell as he was preparing to line up the conversion. He missed after re-setting. The Titans scored three tries when centre Izack Tago was in the sin bin for a professional foul on Brian Kelly. It was Cleary and Talagi brilliance that then saved Penrith. Talagi has been a revelation in 2025 after filling the big shoes of club legend Jarome Luai. His confidence and decision making have grown each week, and the 20-year-old's skillset and speed are top notch. Panthers winger Thomas Jenkins has enjoyed a breakout year and he leapt high above opposite number Jaylan De Groot to snaffle a pinpoint Talagi bomb to open the scoring in the 19th minute. Cleary genius with the ball in hand deceived the Titans defence to lay a pass on for fullback Dylan Edwards to score. Cleary, again, bombed away and Talagi leapt high above Brimson before streaking away under the sticks. Centre Casey McLean then rocketed 55m to score on the cusp of halftime. The fireworks then exploded after the break in what was a sensational confrontation.
